A two day knife making course is a great way to make yourself an item that will last a lifetime, on this two day course we forge a larger knife with a wooden handle, most students choose to do a kitchen knife but more elaborate bushcraft knives and athames have also been made. A knife is one of the oldest tools ever made by humanity and it is one that invokes many emotions to people when they see and use it for a productive task. When doing a knife making course here at Bearded Pig Forge we will discuss the fine details of a knife and how they are made as well as the history of forging them.  On the course you will learn the basics of forging a blade and how to effectively heat treat them in order to get the most use out of the blades as well as techniques for sharpening and honing blades. Courses are £300 Per person per two days. All courses must be paid for a minimum of 14 days in advance to secure the date.  I run a strict cancellation policy. If you cannot attend the date you have booked please contact me within three weeks and I will rebook your course for free, If you contact me after this deadline you will lose your place. Learn the basics of calligraphy using the foundational hand with local artist Panna Chauhan at The Arienas Collective and create a framed abstract piece to take home.

Our six week course starts each July and focuses on Men’s pattern drafting, block patterns, figurations, cutting, fitting, remarking and master patterns. Successful students will be awarded a certificate.

This workshop is open to beginners as well as intermediate-level students, so you can take your time and learn at your own pace. You'll be guided through all the steps of making jewellery from scratch, so you'll leave feeling confident in your skills whatever level you work at. The week is designed around you and you needs and aims. We'll have everything on hand that you need, including the silver clay and tools. We even provide the accommodation and endless tea and coffee to keep you refreshed throughout the retreat. The week will be an immersive experience that helps you feel like part of our family here at Gifted Crafts.

All artist at one time or another will feel the need for inspiration and motivation and what better way than immersing yourself in a painting break, Studio views overlooking the sea in Bournemouth. Inspiring scenery and our special breaks are a little different. You will receive help and guidance from Three professional artists over the course of the break. Covering different techniques and different subject matter. There will also be demonstrations to get those artist instincts tingling. This is a great way to rejuvenate and develop your art by immersing yourself in one of our much loved TRIO breaks. No Matter what creative stage you’re at in your artistic journey, there is something for every ability on offer.

A standalone 10 week/session course that will introduce you to the basic materials, tools, equipment and techniques used in paper crafting and mixed media work and to Craft4Smiles C.I.C and our tutors. You will be sent all the materials and equipment needed to complete the course. At the end of each lesson you will have a crafted item to take away to keep or show family and friends. You will be told about the other courses you offer so that you can make an informed choice about further learning.

This course is not suitable for total beginners. Summary of topics covered in the class: – Pattern making and development for two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes – Leather preparation, pattern placement and leather marking – Leather cutting, gluing and reinforcing – Pattern development, assembling and making for different clutch constructions By the end of the tuition, you will have: – Learnt how to develop patterns for three-dimensional shapes featuring gussets – Learnt how to create patterns for different types of lining – Applied the concept of seam, folding, and trimming allowances when drafting patterns – Created finished patterns, constructed, and completed up to 3 clutches (quantity may vary based on personal abilities) – Learnt how to use patterns to correctly cut your material, minimising waste and utilising the best parts of a hide/skin – Worked with a variety of tools for pattern making and leatherworking, as well as various types of leather – Developed essential leathercraft skills such as preparation, marking, finishing, cutting, and more – Obtained a basic understanding of the differences and best uses of reinforcements, stiffeners, and stabilisers Included in the course: You will receive useful paper handouts containing: – A list of tools and materials used during the lesson(s), with descriptions and usage instructions – A list of recommended suppliers for leather and fittings, both in London and online – A glossary containing pattern making terms and general guidelines for pattern drafting All materials are included, there are no additional costs.
