Giulia Manzoni is a Master Mosaicist who designs and makes bespoke mosaics for residential, artistic and architectural commissions in her central London studio. Classically trained at the renowned Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in Spilimbergo, Italy, Giulia has spent the last 10 years refining her craft working on projects between London and San Francisco. Using centuries-old techniques, Giulia’s work reflects the rich tradition of this ancient art form. Her studio practice spans a breadth of applications, from traditional mosaics for domestic and commercial settings to contemporary works of art for private commissions. Giulia specialises in recreating historically accurate mosaics for walls and flooring. Selecting the finest Italian marbles, her designs are sensitive to a building’s architectural heritage. Notable projects include Victorian marble flooring for a private Kensington townhouse, an entrance sign for Restaurant Vermuteria designed with a nod to the grand cafés of 18th century Europe, and a collaborative restoration project for the gallery floor of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Underpinned by the same rigorous training, Giulia takes a more free form approach for her art commissions. Applying the individual tesserae directly to a surface, she gradually builds texture and colour to create works of art with a three-dimensional quality, using a range of traditional materials and found objects. She has applied her artistic flair to a range of private commissions, from tables and picture screens to a large-scale abstract artwork based on the paintings of Sam Francis. Giulia established her eponymous mosaics studio at Cockpit Arts in Holborn. Where she offers her mosaic services and runs courses in mosaic techniques.

Introduction to the Garden Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden was created by a wealthy Warrington banker, Thomas Parr, around 1830 when he built a new house and estate for his family. The land nearest the house was designated as parkland to give a suitable setting to the mansion and the outer areas were farm land. The landscape that existed at that time was incorporated into the estate and many of the woodlands, ponds and avenues that formed the parkland then still remain in place today. As a whole these features form a significant record of a landscape designed in the manner of a gentry country estate. It appears, from historical records, that the estate was at its height from 1875 – 1899 and this is considered to be the most significant period for the design and productivity of the garden. The house was demolished in 1975 but the 4 acre walled garden was retained as a local amenity. English Partnerships refurbished much of the garden as part of their development of the area and new housing, working closely with the Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden Conservation Project charity, the Warrington Organic and Wildlife Gardening Society and the Woodland Trust. Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council took ownership of the garden in 2005 and, with the help of funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Friends of Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden, has developed the facility into a peaceful, well maintained and beautiful garden which is now a popular local visitor attraction and resource for horticulture, education and enjoyment.

Founded in 2014 by local young people who wanted to see more opportunities for their generation, Pondfield has grown into a thriving hub for our community. We grow food, we explore pioneering techniques to help ecosystems and biodiversity through regenerative land management. We offer space for volunteering and learning about various horticulture approaches whilst we continue to support the local community through providing opportunities for connection to the land, social health and true wellbeing.

At IPC we have been organising in-service teacher training courses for more than 25 years. In that time we have welcomed more than 10,000 teachers to Exeter from all over Europe. In spite of the very sad news of Brexit and the UK's withdrawal from the Erasmus + Porgramme with which we have worked for more than 20 years, we welcome groups of teachers with alternative funding. When I first heard that my grant was approved, I felt the luckiest person in my city. Because I would be the first English teacher in my small hometown who was able to visit England and get an academic training there. My teacher training course with IPC Exeter was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life and thanks to IPC Center and its marvelous trainers I feel confident enough to set on a path to a new life in an English speaking country soon. IPC Exeter made me dream more. Whenever I implement the activities and techniques which I acquired in the IPC Center in my classes, I feel gratitude for all the IPC instructors deeply.
