This one day course will support teachers and RSE leads in special colleges and special schools with post 16 learners to deliver a meaningful curriculum through the Preparing for Adulthood outcomes. The course will explore key issues for older learners, including how to teach about practical aspects of relationships such as attraction and fancying people, starting relationships, negotiation and consent discussions, and how to keep yourself safe. Participants will leave with increased confidence to develop and deliver a skills-based, rights focused curriculum that will empower learners to be able to navigate their personal lives and relationships with autonomy.   Aim: To develop confidence to create and deliver an age-appropriate, rights based RSE curriculum for young adults with learning disabilities.   Outcomes: Participants will develop understanding of requirements for RSE for older learners, including the statutory guidance and preparation for adulthood outcomes, and how RSE can support independent living consider specific challenges young people with SEND may face in developing relationships and explore practical and creative ways to support relationship skill development explore strategies to address sexualised behaviour, and what to do if a learner begins or wants to masturbate in college   Who is this course for? This may include but not be limited to social workers, counselors, therapists, health care practitioners, life coaches and those who may be wishing to pursue EFT certification. It reviews and expands upon the basic aspects of the Art and Science of EFT taught in the EFT 1 course. Additional techniques are taught to expand your repertoire and offer skillful and effective ways of working with different client populations and expanding your ability to work with deeper issues. Of course, as in all EFT Tapping Training workshops, new material is presented using a variety of learning styles including partnered teaching methods, demonstrations, paired and small group experiential applications, video examples and more to ensure that no one walks away without fully understanding everything that is taught. Most importantly, this EFT Level 2 workshop will hone your practice skills. Greater attention and time will be spent on personal observation to assist you in mastering the techniques learned. This workshop gives you the unique opportunity to experience the basics of two crafts in 1 day in your own personal pairs workshop with one to one tuition. The studios are located in the cottage garden of our home on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border. Your experience is private to you and there will be no other students in the studios. The "2 crafts in 1 day" workshop is aimed at those who want to have a go at both of these fun crafts, and come away having learnt some basic techniques for both disciplines. As this is basically a private tuition experience, the course is focused but fun, so would make a fantastic gift. The day can also be experienced by just 1 person (to book this, please refer to our other workshop ""2 Crafts in 1 Day!" 1-2-1 woodturning & pottery experience in 1 day for 1 person" where each person could experience the crafts singularly or together.  This makes for a wonderful Valentine's or anniversary experience, and can also be enjoyed by a parent and child. The morning is spent learning the ropes of woodturning - how to cut and shape wood on the lathe, understanding a little about the different tools required, and making a few pieces to take home. After a light farmhouse-style lunch (which we provide and which we tailor to your dietary requirements), the afternoon then continues with a pottery session. Students can have fun with clay, focusing on some basic hand building methods to get them used to handling the material using the techniques of pinching, coiling, slab building and also throwing on the wheel.  A total of 3 pieces can then be chosen for us to glaze and fire once they have dried sufficiently. When ready, they can either be collected by the student (if they live locally) or I can post them on (I have to charge postage & packaging). Refreshments are provided during both workshops, and a light, rustic farmhouse-style lunch is also included - catering to all dietary requirements. Depending on the weather/time of year, lunch can be taken either out in the cottage garden or in our country kitchen. The sessions are hands-on with expert 1-2-1 tuition - and the student will be able to use all the studio facilities. Each student will also be provided with a certificate of participation for both crafts. About a week before your workshop date, we'll e-mail you again with more details about parking etc. We also offer accommodation in the form of our Crafter's Retreat cabin (www.craftersretreat.co.uk) or we can advise of other local B&Bs.

Complicated family dynamics, empathetic and smart approaches to controversial issues, stand out protagonists (like Elizabeth Zott in Lessons in Chemistry or Bernadette in Where D’You Go Bernadette), long buried secrets, complicity, the road to justice, and impossible decisions, are all themes she finds herself drawn to. In the horror space, she’s a sucker for amazing female-centric stories in the vein of Yellowjackets, and the kind of contemporary, accessible horror that Stephen King always nails. She wants to get lost in a world that feels within reach of ours. In the speculative and dystopian spaces, she’s interested in genius ideas that set up big questions or reflect the most broken (and sometimes hidden) parts of society. She loves Octavia Butler, Margaret Atwood, George Orwell, and also adored The Leftovers, Station Eleven, Wanderers, and The Power. The what-ifs of life and fiction fascinate her. In the grounded sci-fi space, she’d love to find a smart, immersive, and accessible story like The Martian. She doesn’t represent fantasy or romantasy. In regards to sci-fi, unless it’s very grounded and has crossover potential to a mainstream audience, it’s not for her. In the romance space, she’s particularly drawn to smart, complex and witty characters, where the chemistry is jumping off the page. She loves contemporary settings and all the tropes, though the voice and characters must come first to make the reading experience fully immersive. She wants to be cackling, and rooting for the characters with all her heart. She is very hands-on editorially, and loves working with her authors to shape their manuscripts, and brainstorm ideas. The best part of the job is discovering debut authors, and helping them find a home for their books.
