In 2008 Jo met and took refuge with Dharma King Dechan Jeuren – MahaVairocana Buddha, lineage bearer of the Esoteric and LinJi Chan schools in China. She received her Dharma name – Zhi Ling. In April 2015, the MahaAmita Temple was opened by the Mayor of Southend-on-Sea. The only Buddhist Temple in the Borough, Jo was then invited by the Mayor to present the Buddhist flags to him at the Southend Borough Annual General Meeting, which he accepted on behalf of the Borough. In 2016 she was invited to become the Buddhist representative for SACRE (Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education) for the Southend Borough and currently sits on the panel. The Founding Director of the Centre, Jo is an ordained Buddhist teacher and runs meditation and healing sessions weekly and Mindfulness courses monthly. She is a huge advocate of teaching and promoting the benefits of meditation and visits schools, groups and organisations within the local community giving talks and workshops. Her personal philosophy is to be as honest and truthful as possible and specialises in teaching how to open up the heart centre. The ASEAN Network for Green Entrepreneurship and Leadership (ANGEL) is co-funded with the ERASMUS+ programme of the European Union (Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education). ANGEL project is a convergence of ASEAN partner institutions’ responses to the strong need for capacity-building while confronting challenges of environmental degradation. In addition, ANGEL aims to support graduates as well as disadvantaged groups to attain a decent income which is derived from quality employment, and enhanced with entrepreneurial-leadership skills. Another goal is to help improve inclusiveness, because gender and other demographic divides exist and derail wealth creation across the ASEAN nations. The mission of ANGEL is to engender impact and transformation for two major target stakeholders of each partner institution in Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Vietnam and Malaysia. The first target group is the internal stakeholders, namely students, academic and non-academic staff, and top management. Within the context of Southeast Asian institutions, the green entrepreneurial mindset and transformational leadership skills and competencies are still new concepts and less implemented. The second target group of ANGEL are the disadvantaged groups within societies in Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Vietnam and Malaysia. This includes women and minorities, poor income groups in both urban and rural communities as well as people with disabilities (PWD). The Asian partners are supported by universities and institutions from Greece and Cyprus.

We hold many different events, where members and potential members can get to know each other, and become involved in all sorts of interesting activities. As a charity that focuses on education and opportunities for women, we are a group of over 8,000 women in Surrey that work together for our common goals. Each WI in Surrey is a member of the Federation and they meet at least monthly to engage in a wide range of interesting activities, including clubs, groups and events. At monthly meetings members enjoy practical workshops and lectures. However, it is important that we also have the opportunity to engage outside of our individual WIs. So as a Federation, we aim to put on events in different parts of the county so that all members have the opportunity to attend. We have a presence at agricultural shows, hold workshops and have two countywide meetings each year in Dorking. Our wide variety of events ranges from literary lunches, a day out in London either for Christmas shopping or for a walking tour with a blue badge guide, fiendish quizzes, cream teas, fashion shows, down to learning new crafts such as portrait painting or willow weaving. Everything is possible and the members are encouraged to send in their ideas for the committees to consider for future events.

Saturn is a canal “Fly Boat” (express delivery boat), built by the Shropshire Union Railways & Canal Company in 1906. She has been restored to her original working condition and is now both an outdoor classroom for schools and an 'eye-opening' historical experience for adults. Saturn's history is fascinating - & you could be part of her future! Fly-Boats Fly-boats operated regular schedules running 24 hours. More about Fly-boats Canal Life Boat peoples' lives were hard and very different to ours. More about Canal Life Horse Boating Horses could pull 50 times as much cargo on water. More about Horseboating Saturn - a concise history Saturn was built 1906 in Chester for the Shropshire Union Railways & Canal Company. Entirely wooden construction – oak sides, elm bottoms. Horse-drawn she would usually carry between 12 and 16 tons Worked on the Llangollen Canal in the early 20th century Only surviving Shropshire Union fly-boat in original condition Saturn specialised in carrying cheese from Cheshire and North Shropshire to Manchester Saturn remained a horse-drawn cargo boat into the 1950s, by then working around the Wolverhampton area Mid 1950s to 1980s she was converted to work as a hotel boat Fully restored in 2005. We are a true multidisciplinary society largely made up from the specialties of gynaecology, dermatology, genito-urinary medicine and pathology. Our membership consists of doctors and nurses and we work closely with allied health professionals aligned to vulval disease. This multidisciplinary approach to the speciality enables excellence in clinical outcomes and workforce training. We have a strong commitment to education and training working with our medical colleges striving to achieve high quality standards of care for patients. Our membership currently stands at 288 health professionals from a variety of different specialities. The objectives of the society The relief of suffering for patients with vulval diseases The promotion of research into the cause and management of vulval diseases The practice, art and science of understanding, diagnosing and managing vulval diseases Achievements include: Hosting clinical conferences. Our annual two-day meeting was held in Salisbury in April 2018 hosted by Dr Abi Kingston. It was an excellent conference and 146 delegates attended Guidelines on Vulval pain syndromes (published British Journal of Dermatology). Contribution to the NHS Clinical Knowledge on pruritus vulvae for primary care and first contact physicians. Completed a Cochrane review on lichen sclerosus treatment. Funding and clinically supporting the James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership to identify and prioritise the top 10 future research questions for lichen sclerosus.

After gaining her Arts Degree from Sheffield City Polytechnic, Janet set up her silversmithing business in London where she was based for ten years. She moved to Berkshire where she has stayed, initially becoming Jeweller in Residence at South Hill Park Arts Centre and now teaching her own classes in Woodley. She has been making and teaching jewellery for over 40 years and has had the pleasure of seeing her students enjoy learning about jewellery making and some of her students have chosen to go on to run their own jewellery business. Her designs concentrate on form and technique. Flow, texture and carving informs most of her work. She likes her work to be timeless, enhance the body and come to life when worn by the owner. Her work continues to be exhibited here in Britain and abroad, has featured in a variety of publications including Vogue and is part of the contemporary jewellery collection at the Dallas Museum of Art, USA.
