We follow the structured examination syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance and pupils are entered for examinations from Pre Primary to Advanced 2 level. However exams are not compulsory, importance is placed on enjoyment and appreciation of dance as a physical and expressive activity and art form. Body conditioning is incorporated into all classes from Grade 1 to Advanced 2 level. Contemporary Dance is also offered and considered an important part of the training of a classical dancer. The new Rambert Grades training program was introduced in 2020. Pupils are accepted into the school from 3 years of age and all are invited to take part in the school’s own production which is held approximately every two years at the Nottingham Playhouse. Having trained full-time at LCDD and taught in this country and abroad, Dawn and husband Jeremy moved to Italy to teach at Centro Internazionale di Danza in Cosenza. On return to UK they started Gedling Ballet School at the community centre on Shearing Hill in 1985, transferring to its present home at the Memorial Hall in 1986. Both of their daughters, Sarah and Susie, progressed from Gedling Ballet School to train full-time at the Royal Ballet School (White Lodge) and at Elmhurst Assoc. School of Birmingham Royal Ballet. Alongside a passion for dance and teaching at Gedling Ballet School, Dawn trained at Nottingham University as a Physiotherapist and worked within the NHS for a number of years. Dawn attends training events held by the RAD and Royal Ballet School and has completed the Royal Ballet School Inspire Series 1 and the first seminar of Inspire To Be Series 2. A former member of the RAD committee for the Midlands and East of England region and awarded life membership of the RAD in 2020 after 42 years of membership. Susie King Former pupil of Gedling Ballet School, performed with Birmingham Royal Ballet in a number of productions notably as young Morgan le Fay in the Ballet 'Arthur' at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and on UK tour with BRB. A Royal Ballet Associate student Susie at age 14 accepted a scholarship place at Elmhurst Assoc. School of Birmingham Royal Ballet, and then completed her training at Rambert School of Ballet & Contemporary Dance, BA (Hons) followed by Rambert MA. Professional work includes Ballet Theatre UK, Ampersandance, Royal Shakespeare Company and Medea with English National Opera at the London Coliseum. Former ballet coach at the National Ice Arena and dance teacher at NCN, Susie now also teaches for dance schools based in London and Watford. Susie is a qualified and registered teacher with the RAD and BBO Dance, and is a member of the new Rambert Grades training programme (Rambert Grades is accredited by The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulations Ofqual). Contemporary Dance Jeremy King Trained London School of Contemporary Dance. Former member of Lynx Dance Company and English Bach Festival Company. Taught at Centro Internazionale di Danza Italy, and various schools and colleges in the UK including Welsh College of Music and Drama. Former company manger and choreographer for Nottingham Youth Dance in association with New English Contemporary Ballet. In addition to teaching, Jeremy is the administrator for Gedling Ballet School and also percussionist for contemporary classes. Susie King - see above Stage (Jazz & Tap) Lauren Parker Former pupil of Gedling Ballet School performed with Nottingham Youth Dance, youth company of New English Contemporary Ballet. Qualifications gained; BTEC National Diploma in Dance from New College Nottingham, BA (Hons) in Dance and Professional Practice (Performance Scholarship) from Coventry University and MA in Arts Management from Birmingham Institute for Art and Design. Lauren is a qualified and registered teacher with the IDTA. Lauren is also a certified teacher of PBT Adult Syllabus. Lauren teaches extensively across Nottingham delivering classes in settings such as Nursery/Pre-Schools, Primary Schools and Extra Curricula Dance Schools and Gymnastics Clubs. Lauren is now a teaching a mid week pre school class at Gedling Ballet School. We are open Monday to Friday from 8am until 6pm all year round and closed on bank holidays and the period between christmas and new year Clarence House Nursery, set in the leafy West End of Glasgow, has indoor and outdoor facilities. Shirley Hexley, the nursery owner, has been providing wraparound childcare since 1998 for 0-5 year olds. Clarence House has an excellent reputation for having a calm and nurturing environment that encourages children to be independent, develop social skills and explore new experiences. Staff are committed to understanding the individual needs of each child and work closely with parents to consolidate learning and help each child reach their full potential. Clarence House is a small nursery and recent comments from parents have included “higglety pigglety” and “quirky”. Most visitors comment on the nice feeling they get when they come in. As an artist I work with shared truth and autobiography to create theatre and improvised theatre with a sense of nostalgia that asks how perspective has changed us. I deep dive into genres like storytelling, science fiction and folk horror to create a mood and a washing line of tropes to build my original work around. I either make transient work through long form improvisation or write a script and edit through collaboration and audience reactions. There is always an element of audience involvement - small or large - that changes the piece each time. My artwork retells my personal history, my passions and my fears in a way that allows others to unlock theirs." Katy Schutte is one of the UK's original long form improvisers. She performs and teaches all over the world, is Head Teacher and Course Designer for Hoopla (the UK's largest improv school), was Co-Founder/Director at the International Improv Station and has been one of The Maydays since their founding year in 2004 with stints as Director and Artistic Director. She is half of legendary sci-fi improv duo Project2 and author of The Improviser's Way: A Longform Workbook, which is published by Nick Hern Books. Katy trained at Second City and iO Chicago and with teachers from the Annoyance, UCB, Groundlings, The Magnet and lots of other places. Katy also plays in slow burn longform show Katy and Rach, has toured with Fluxx, improvised musicals with Music Box, The Maydays and Baby Wants Candy, co-created the Destination podcast and has guested in countless shows including Messing with a Friend, Criminal, The Playground, the London and Liverpool Improvathons, Grand Theft Impro, Séance Fiction, Whirled News Tonight and The Armando Diaz Experience. Along with Chris Mead and Tony Harris, she was in the first ever improv show in Virtual Reality and continues to work on the bleeding edge of technology in The Galaxicle Implosions. She has performed in Hoopla's Saturday night shows Tightrope and Speechless, the West End show Yes Queens and toured festivals with WrongCom. Katy is thrilled to be a team member of London queer improv group Hell Yeah! and hip hop improv team Track 96.

The Jo Hyne Dance School is a friendly, local school, with classes in the Totton and Eling Community Centre, Totton, Southampton, Hampshire.photo_3 Jo Hyne Jo has been involved in dance from a young age and was one of an elite few trained by The Royal Ballet School and English National Ballet. Mrs Hyne is also trained and qualified in the ISTD Syllabus (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing), which enables children to be put in for ISTD examinations. The school has been established for 8 years now, and is continuing to grow successfully. We offer classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern Dance, Jazz , Musical Theatre and Street, in a fun but disciplined atmosphere, and the children often get to dance in local fund raising events, school fetes, join in the Carnival and as well as performing in the School Show, children can have the opportunity to audition for local /regional auditions for any productions that arise. BALLET (ISTD). AGE 3 – ADULT This beautiful classical art form is the basis and grounding of all Dance and movement. With its creative lines,artistic shapes and sheer strength, it is the main key to preparing the body to conquer all the other forms of Dance. MODERN DANCE (ISTD) FROM YEAR R- ADULT This is a more energetic, rhythmic dance style which was born in America before travelling worldwide. This is the form often seen in West End shows in the Musical productions and is known for its theatrical qualities too. These classes are structured, with set exercises and free work, which include isolations, jumps, and lyrical work. TAP DANCE (ISTD) YEAR R – ADULT This is where the dancer performs wearing special shoes which enable him/ her to strike the floor, beating out different rhythms to give a distinctive sound. This dance form is again found in Musical productions and is also a theatrical art.
