Learn to make colourful monotype prints without the need for a press. 
In this 3-hour private class, Lou Davis will take you through how to make a gelatin (vege-gel) printing plate which can be used to print beautiful and colourful works of art.&nbsp;We&rsquo;ll cover a number of techniques including using stencils and masks, adding texture with botanicals and found objects and using household items for mark making and using home-made foam stamps. Textures could be chosen to match the reason for the celebration.

Private class for up to 10 people (excluding materials)

On this, 3 hour or 5 hour introduction to macram&eacute; workshop with Edinburgh artist Lucy Wayman, you get the opportunity to work on longer projects.&nbsp;You can choose to create a plant or pot hanger, or stay on to work on a more larger macram&eacute; project, such as a double plant hanger, wall hanging or bag.&nbsp;
The workshop will start with the basic principles and techniques of macram&eacute;, allowing you to build your confidence by creating small projects such as a key ring, before moving on to designing and creating your plant hanger, bespoke wall hanging, or bag.
Once you feel more confident, you will learn how to calculate rope lengths and plan designs to create your chosen hand-crafted macram&eacute; project&nbsp;using 100% cotton rope and a selection of coloured twines. A helpful instruction manual will be provided to guide you through your project.If you opt for the plant hanger project your workshop will finish after 3 hours. The longer wall hanging and bag projects last for an extra 2 hours, i.e. a 5 hour workshop.
This three-in-one workshop gives extra time for people who feel confident with the basics to challenge themselves with more elaborate designs under Lucy&#39;s guidance.

Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. Immerse yourself in mosaic making on this introductory workshop with Jacky Cox from Mossy Mosaic.On this introduction to mosaic making workshop you will create two mosaics using vitreous (&#39;swimming pool&#39;) tiles, learning methods you can do at home. You will begin by designing, cutting your tiles and making a beautiful hanging heart. While the glue is drying ready for grouting, Jacky will show you how to create a simple, non-grouted drinks coaster.You will learn about how to mosaic safely, how to cut tiles using a wheeled nipper, explore design ideas and grout your hanging heart.You will take home two finished mosaic pieces, and have learned all you need to know to start your mosaicing journey.Mosaicing fits in perfectly with our vision of a world where recycling, repurposing and upcycling is the norm. Immerse yourself in mosaic making on this introductory workshop with Jacky Cox from Mossy Mosaic.
On this introduction to mosaic making workshop you will create two mosaics using vitreous ('swimming pool') tiles, learning methods you can do at home. You will begin by designing, cutting your tiles and making a beautiful hanging heart. While the glue is drying ready for grouting, Jacky will show you how to create a simple, non-grouted drinks coaster.
You will learn about how to mosaic safely, how to cut tiles using a wheeled nipper, explore design ideas and grout your hanging heart.
You will take home two finished mosaic pieces, and have learned all you need to know to start your mosaicing journey.
Mosaicing fits in perfectly with our vision of a world where recycling, repurposing and upcycling is the norm. Jacky works with a variety of materials including glass, recycled crockery and natural materials like slate and sea glass. In her other workshops you can explore working with these other materials and creating more lovely mosaics for your home, or as special, unique gifts.

Join artist Lou Davis for a relaxing painting session. Lou uses watercolour to create simple and approachable patterns that allow you to get acquainted with this medium in a way that helps you focus, shut out the outside world and simply create.&nbsp;In this workshop, we&rsquo;ll paint three watercolour projects, learning to use the paints to create a number of effects, we&rsquo;ll learn how to mix and blend colours on the palette or on the page, and we&rsquo;ll embellish our paintings with details in pen and with gold watercolour.This workshop is perfect if you&rsquo;re new to watercolour and offers a really beautiful way to explore the medium, it&rsquo;s also good if you&rsquo;re experienced in watercolour and are interested in using your painting and drawing time to relax and de-stress.

Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. This taster workshop will get you into the festive spirit, as our calligraphy artist Panna Chauhan teaches you how to hand-decorate a set of 3 Christmas baubles which you will take home to hang with pride on your tree, or as perfect, personalised gifts for family and friends.&nbsp;
In the first hour, you&nbsp;will concentrate on the&nbsp;traditional calligraphy letter-making&nbsp;and learn&nbsp;the basics. Then you will&nbsp;practice on acetate&nbsp;to get an idea of what it will look and&nbsp;feel like, so you&#39;ll have plenty of time to&nbsp;experiment and play with ideas.&nbsp;

Calligraphy

Create a set of three personalised, calligraphy Christmas baubles with local artist Panna Chauhan at The Arienas Collective in Edinburgh City Centre.

Personalised Christmas calligraphy baubles

Create two unique hallmark quality silver rings on this intermediate level workshop with Edinburgh-based silver clay jewellery expert Anna Campbell.
Using silver clay, a material made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water, you will learn how to make two different types of fine silver rings. Anna will take you through all the steps needed to create your own pieces ready for firing.&nbsp;
You will complete two projects: a flat band ring, and a D profile ring (as shown in the photographs). You will learn how to design your rings, calculate your size to take shrinkage into account, make your own bespoke pieces and embellish with textures and a gemstone. If you want to make a ring for someone else please remember to check their ring size before coming!&nbsp;
Your rings will be taken away for kiln firing at the end of the session and will be posted to you within one week (It is recommended that rings are kiln fired rather than torch fired). Alternatively, your rings can be collected from The Arienas Collective by arrangement.
This workshop is suitable for those that have completed our half day silver clay taster or full day beginners workshops, or have some experience of working with silver clay. If you are unsure about whether it&rsquo;s suitable for you, please contact us before booking.

Create your own silver rings: a full-day jewellery workshop.
You’ll be guided by Anna Campbell, one of the UK’s leading metal clay instructors, in this inspiring one-day workshop. Designed for those who have completed a beginner’s course or have some experience working with metal clay, this intermediate-level class will take your jewellery-making skills to the next level. 
Over the course of the day, you’ll craft two beautiful silver rings, each showcasing different techniques. This hands-on workshop will provide you with expert guidance as you explore new ways to create and refine your designs in silver clay.
Here’s what you’ll create and learn:
Flat band ring. Start by making a classic flat band ring, which is sleek and flat all the way around. This project will introduce you to essential ring-making techniques, including how to size your ring for a perfect fit and work with silver clay to shape and refine your design. You will be able to texture and embellish this ring to make it unique to you.
D Profile ring. Next, you’ll craft a D profile ring - a design that is flat on the inside and elegantly rounded on the outside. This sophisticated style will allow you to explore more advanced techniques and develop your skills in shaping and finishing.

Make two silver clay rings on this one day intermediate workshop in Edinburgh City Centre. 

Silver clay ring making

Suitable for beginners and those with more experience, in this workshop you will design and create your very own bespoke, slate garden mosaic with Jacky from Mossy Mosaic.Mosaic making fits in perfectly with our vision of a world where recycling, repurposing and upcycling is the norm. Old slate can form the perfect base for a garden mosaic, hanging from the shed or balancing on a border. Bring new colour and interest into your garden with your very own bespoke design using vitreous glass, old china and sea washed glass!In this workshop you will use a reclaimed slate base to make a gorgeous mandala mosaic. Suitable for beginners and those with more experience, in this workshop you will design and create your very own bespoke, slate garden mosaic with Jacky from Mossy Mosaic.
Mosaic making fits in perfectly with our vision of a world where recycling, repurposing and upcycling is the norm. Old slate can form the perfect base for a garden mosaic, hanging from the shed or balancing on a border. Bring new colour and interest into your garden with your very own bespoke design using vitreous glass, old china and sea washed glass!
