Knowledge Exchange (KE) is a collaborative, creative endeavour that translates knowledge and research into impact in society and the economy (a definition agreed by global KE/TT alliance, ATTP). PraxisAuril is the UK’s professional association for KE practitioners working in universities, private and public sector research organisations to manage IP commercialisation, collaboration and other types of engagement between researchers and external organisations to deliver social and economic impact through innovation and enhanced productivity and skills. Based in the UK but global in reach, our network includes 4000+ active KE practitioners from more than 182 member organisations as well as key sector stakeholders, industry service providers, and business representatives. Our core mission is to Develop, Promote and Connect our members and the work that they do to ensure that the UK derives economic, social and creative impact from its world-leading research base. Our national training programme is admired around the world for the quality of it content and the knowledge of the expert practitioners who deliver it. We have trained over 5,300 Knowledge Exchange practitioners from 40 countries, including 400 in China. PraxisAuril is a founding member of the Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals (ATTP), driving global professional standards and recognition through RTTP accreditation. Since 2002 the Cambridge-based executive team, led by Maxine Ficarra, has worked with hundreds of expert practitioner volunteers to extend the organisation’s professional development, membership and advocacy activities nationally and internationally. PraxisAuril is a company limited by guarantee. It generates income from membership fees, professional development training courses, conferences and other services and events. Any profits are reinvested strategically into projects and initiatives to develop, promote and connect the Knowledge Exchange community.

That’s how one of these ‘about me’ pages is meant to start isn’t it? I tell you an ‘X factor’ level (often very traumatic) story about how something in my past is why I do the work I do today. So yes I could tell you all about my experiences of having a breakdown from work, of being so completely burnt out that I wasn’t able to look after my kids. And how that led me to retrain as a Counsellor – work that made my heart sing – until all of my knowledge left me woefully unprepared for how terrified I was when my daughter experienced her mental health crisis. I could end the tale with an epiphany moment that didn’t come until my fifties when I was diagnosed with ADHD and finally saw how well I had masked my own struggles, how this diagnosis had opened up new understandings about myself. I don’t mean to be flippant. Of course traumatic events in our life do shape us and have to be healed and worked through. But they are absolutely not the whole story – and that is the story that I would rather tell you about. I have learned that looking to the past to make sense of the present is helpful to a point. I have discovered that if we continuously look to the past we are missing out on the present When we believe that circumstances, people, places even the weather create our experience we forget that everything we need is already inside us. This is where innate serenity, wisdom, peace and resilience live.

I am here as an eternal student. Yogic practices found a way into my life after graduating from Fashion Design and in want of a whole new direction. The path I’d been on until graduation felt unaligned and this new vision took me to India where I travelled and studied for 8 months. One conversation with a complete stranger early on in my travels stuck with me. I was waiting outside about to go into my first yoga class since arriving. A few of us got to chatting about why we were there. One girl said she just wanted to get her daily meditation practice back. She said, “life is just better when you meditate. I don’t know why, it just is.” Since then I have learnt many techniques and found reasons why meditation enriches anyones life who is willing to dive in but this simple and profound statement is what I come back to again and again. Life is just better. During this time I went on to complete Inteyoga 200 hour teacher training in Mysore. I then returned the following year to complete the 500 hour course. This path and solid foundation took me back to the Isle of Mull, Scotland where I grew up to start teaching Inteyoga, an integration of traditional Indian Hatha yoga practices from the Sivananda and Krishnananda lineages. Since then I have developed a strong meditation and intuition practice which led me to visit London to complete reiki levels 1&2. This has been a beautiful revelation that allows me to give distance healings using this powerful universal life force to YOU wherever you are in the world!

We are a volunteer led work with very few staff, but this does not mean we are a small organization. We can see as many as 300 people a day, looking for our assistance. We remain open every day Our impact remains high We can do this for a fraction of the cost of other day centres. We do this without any statutory funding. We recognize the true strength of our volunteers. And we recognize the value of everybody coming through our doors. First, we help people by meeting immediate needs: food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. In our recovery programs, we address deeper needs for life-skills and job-skills training, and addiction recovery. We measure our progress against four criteria, which indicate to us that a life has been transformed from homelessness to hope: connection to family, commitment to sobriety, a job and a place to live, and a plan for the future. Today, The Whitechapel Mission is a results-oriented organization that is recognized as one of London's most effective. We want to warmly welcome you to Boarding In UK. Boarding In UK’s journey began following the personal experience of a couple during their search for independent schools for their children in the UK. They’ve shared their story below: Having struggled in the past to decide which independent school was right for our two children, we took interest in finding out what really makes a good school for a child, how exactly one can make that judgement and subsequently make the right decision. We could remember the sad feeling that enveloped us when a prep school we desperately wanted our first child to attend declined to offer him a place. We asked so many questions but no clear answer, which led to many more questions. At that point all we focused on was how beautiful the facilities of the school was and their outstanding academic performance but did not even stop to ask if our son would thrive in that environment. We went back to the drawing board and by acknowledging our child's strengths and weaknesses, we were able to place him in the environment that not only helped him develop but also to thrive. Matravers School is a large, traditional 11-18 school pleasantly situated in the centre of the market town of Westbury. We occupy a very large, spacious 13-acre site. The school buildings are of mixed age, blending traditional with more modern buildings. Recently the school has benefited from state-of-the-art additions including: an £8.5million STEM (Science, maths, technology) Centre in 2019; a £1.5million upgrade to our English and Humanities block in 2020; a new Dance and Music block added in 2000; a Sports Hall and Dining Hall added in 2004; a Drama block added in 2008; and a new Sixth Form block added in 2012. Technology plays a central part in our school and we benefit from a range of technology and teaching facilities throughout the school. On-site facilities include specialist accommodation for Technology, Art and Ceramics and Photography. There is one large gymnasium for Physical Education alongside a new Sports Centre and a purpose-built fitness suite. The Sports Centre is also used by the community in the evenings. There are a separate Music and Drama building with specialised Dance Studios and Music Performance and Practice rooms. Specialised Science laboratories enable the School to offer a full programme in Science to every student. Our brand new Sixth Form building opened in 2012 to accommodate our Sixth Form offering an exciting and modern learning environment.
