Divergent Brains is the culmination of our lived experiences as autistic individuals, our subsequent frustration at being so deeply misunderstood, and our desires to break down the societal barriers we’ve experienced so that others need not be limited by them. No two autistic people are alike and yet neurodiversity training so often focuses on one, generic portrayal of autistic experience. This reliance on stereotypes reinforces dangerous misconceptions and limits society’s understanding of what it actually means to be autistic. We take a tailored approach and place our emphasis on authenticity and lived experience as autistic people. We commit to delivering bespoke, practical solutions which take the breadth of diversity in the autistic and wider neurodivergent community into account. This community is at the centre of everything we do. We will never claim to be experts in anyone’s lives but our own, and firmly believe that it is not our place to speak for others; instead amplifying their voices and bringing attention to under-represented parts of the community. We combine our personal experiences with up-to-date, autistic-led research in order to share accurate, meaningful information and offer practical advice to drive and support change towards a more accessible and inclusive society.

The Research Ethics Association (REA) The Research Ethics Association (REA) brings together academia, industry and local organisations across all disciplines with the aim of opening up and applying cross-discipline research ethics, contributing to ethical practice and research. REA is led by a team of people across the South West of England and Wales consisting of academics, doctoral researchers, professional services and local and national organisations. Originally established as a conference, the REA was founded in 2020 by a team of volunteer academics from the South-West and Wales. The initiative was born out of the need to institutionalise an interdisciplinary response to ethical practice, beyond micro responses in the form of university committees and industry protocols. The REC2021 conference, which took place Online, was a massive success hosting over 400 attendees from across 53 countries worldwide. The interest academic, industry workers and government organisations showed in taking part in this conversation heightened us on the urgency of continuing this project on a biannual basis, establishing ourselves as an association (processes still in place). We want to encourage academics, industry staff and government employees to be part of the conversation, innovating, exploring and breaking down boundaries that surround and stiffen our perception of ethics, ethical research, and ethical practice.

About STOP STOP provides world-class teaching in all aspects of the Theatre of the Oppressed (TO), for people who want to incorporate it into their work, whether your background is activism, development, theatre, community, public or social sectors. Building on years of courses led by Augusto Boal and Adrian Jackson, STOP will be the first London organisation exclusively dedicated to the teaching of all aspects of TO. The emphasis will always be on the practice, with a deep grounding in the theory. STOP Co-founder Adrian Jackson enjoyed a close relationship with Augusto Boal during his lifetime. He translated five of Boal’s books into English and collaborated with him on many occasions. Sadly Augusto died in 2009 but his work lives on, and grows and multiplies, through teaching and development. Adrian founded Cardboard Citizens, a trailblazing organisation which used TO with homeless people and migrants for over 30 years. He will lead and oversee STOP courses open to all and with input from leading TO practitioners from all over the world. In our pilot season in autumn / winter 2022, Courses will include intensive training in Forum Theatre, the Rainbow of Desires and TO Jokering (Facilitation). We will also host one international TO practitioner to share their practice with the UK TO community.

Glena Art Studio opens in London on the 1st of November, 2022, following seven years old history of the Glena Art Studio project for art education, workshops, and creative events across the UK, Bulgaria, and internationally via online tutoring. The leader and teacher of the studio is Galina Hristova, a practising artist and educator, with BA and MA in Set and Costume design and MFA in Fine Arts. Her professional training started at the widely acclaimed National school of Fine Arts ‘Tzanko Lavrenov’, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and ended with the MFA Course at Wimbledon College of Arts, UAL, London, UK. Trained in the academic tradition of painting and drawing, Galina now works multidisciplinary with main focus on Painting and Performance art. Together with her teaching experience, she has led different workshops, presentations, and talks. Her practice expands in curation with the realisation of different art exhibitions and live events. Galina has six solo exhibitions and a great number of collective shows. Her purpose as an educator is to guide and encourage students to discover and release their creative potential, but also to support personal development. Through the formation of self-esteem and social integrity, raise values such as equality, compassion, and acceptance.

With over 25 years of experience in the fields of training and leadership development in both the retail and education sectors I know my stuff. My leadership career began when I worked for a bookshop chain in central London, working my way up to the role of store manager at branches in Baker Street, Earls Court and Holborn at the age of 20. This was followed by a period working as a training manager for Tesco at their first central London store on Oxford Street. My success in this role led to me being seconded to support the opening of Tesco’s flagship store in Kensington, where I helped to lead the recruitment and training of all new staff in preparation for the store’s launch. In 1999 I entered the education sector. I started as a volunteer in a pre-school, then secured a job as a Learning Support Assistant and eventually retrained as a class teacher. In my second year of teaching I took on a curriculum leadership role, which at the time was an unusual move for a new teacher. I’ve spent the last 19 years developing my career and I’m currently the headteacher of a primary school in south London. In 2014 I set up my own publishing company 9:10 Publishing. This was born out of an observation that there were very few books for young black people which were written from a black British perspective. Rather than rely on traditional publishing houses to take up my ideas, I looked into what was required to do it myself. As a result Letters to a Young Generation was born. The first book was aimed at boys and in 2016 I published another edition for girls. Visit the 9:10 Publishing website to find out more. I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring Practice from Oxford Brookes University, where I am also a member of their Coaching and Mentoring Society. I’m a professional member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC). I write regularly for TES and have delivered training as part of Teach First’s NPQ programme.

St Bonaventure’s has a long and distinguished history. Our school has been providing the very best education for Roman Catholic boys in this area since before 1875. The school was founded on its current site in 1877 by the Franciscan Friars, making St Bonaventure’s one of the oldest Catholic boys’ schools in the country – only the London Oratory is older. 2017 saw us celebrating 140 years of education in Forest Gate and although the World has changed immensely in that time, one thing remains the same and that is the love and care each student receives every single day by dedicated staff and teachers. Our school motto, “In Sanctitate et Doctrina” symbolises what we expect from all members of our school. This is a school that every member of the school community feels privileged to be associated with. We support charities on a local, national and international level. Our boys give freely of their time and their money. Our CAFOD group raises over £2000 each year and we support Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society, Caritas Anchor House, Richard House Children’s Hospice and other charities.
