Lilyput Lane is a cute, child sized street perfect for role playing and imaginative play. The ‘Lane’ has a police station, house, beauty salon, café, shop, vet and doctors surgeries. All rooms are fully equipped with related toys so children can embrace each theme. In addition to the ‘Lane’ there is a child size road complete with road signs and traffic lights where children can ride on our number of different vehicles. There is also a train table where children can build their own train tracks to play with and a car table where they are able to drive the toy cars. A construction area is also provided with bricks and tools to play with and dress up area where children could be anything from a princess to a superhero. We also provide a designated baby area with plenty of baby toys and a lovely calm area with cushions to lie on and books to read. We have a small craft room where crafts will always be available to do and a lovely big display wall where our budding artists can display their work ! For the parents/carers there is a lovely café area where you can relax with a cuppa and bite to eat in the knowledge your child has a safe environment in which to play. The organisation was set up in 2000 as an independent charity to run a community facility. Since then it has gone from strength to strength by expanding the space available for activities and delivering its own services such as childcare, adult learning health and well-being projects. Outline below is our story: 1999 - In 1999, with the closure and demolition of the Foundry Street youth club, a meeting was held by representatives of local Ravensthorpe based community groups about the possibility of acquiring a building for general community use. After many meetings and discussions between them and Kirklees Council, it was agreed that if representatives could come together to form a group, Kirklees Council would support them in acquiring and running a community building through available European SRB Grant funding. With St Johns Ambulance Centre looking for new premises their building came up for sale, it was purchased by the newly formed group in 1999 and renamed as the Ravensthorpe Community Centre. 2000 - The building underwent a series of alterations to make it more suitable for use as a community centre, the building had disabled ramps put in and the rooms were changed to make then suitable for community use. In May 2000 the building was officially opened by Mayor of Kirkless. The building subsequently became very popular with regular users such as a wide range of community groups, the local further education college holding learning classes and a local provider delivering crèche facilities.

Our passion for climbing has inspired us to develop climbing walls that enable anyone and everyone to access the sport and develop the next generation of climbers. The Climbing Academy started in Bristol in 2008 when The Mothership opened. We delivered on our vision to build a bouldering wall that would appeal to as many people as possible, giving them the opportunity to take part in what we think is the best sport in the world. Soon after, we opened The Newsroom in Glasgow – based in an old newspaper printing works – bringing the city its first dedicated bouldering centre. In more recent years we took over Undercover Rock AKA The Church, Bristol’s original roped wall in St Werburghs. In late Autumn 2018, we opened a brand new climbing centre in Glasgow. The Prop Store came to life in an old BBC prop store and offers both bouldering and roped climbing. All of our climbing walls offer the very best in climbing facilities and courses, designed for climbers of all abilities. Our staff are always on-hand to offer advice to help you get the very best out of your experience climbing. National Taekwondo Club (NTC) was established more than five decades ago by Master Hetherington, making it officially the UK’s longest-serving Taekwondo Club. In addition to Derby, we have three branches in Nottingham (Nottingham Central, Arnold and OMAC-UK in Gedling), Coventry, Liverpool, London, and Rotherham. National Taekwondo Club – Derby (NTC Derby) is a non for profit organisation whose objectives are: Taekwondo Promotion The advancement of the sport by promoting the game of Taekwondo for the benefits of the residents of Derby and its environs. Life Improvement The provision of facilities for the learning, teaching, and playing of Taekwondo for the benefits of the residents of Derby and its environs with object of improving the condition of life. Many Taekwondo instructors will tell you that Taekwondo is an Olympic sport, which is true, but not all will tell you that we are the only Taekwondo Club in the city of Derby that practices Olympic Taekwondo as developed and practiced in South Korea and the only group that is a full member of the official national governing body for Olympic Taekwondo, and that is British Taekwondo which’s functions include responsibility for the selection of National Teams to compete at International and Olympic level. We have trained British and European champions. We have also had a number of students selected to train with and represent Great Britain. We also have dedicated children’s classes throughout the week at school venues across the UK.

Here in the Purbeck Workshop, we are a registered charity (no. 1161110) based in Wool, Dorset and we are dedicated to providing creative escapes to anyone whose life has been touched by cancer. Our relaxing and supportive workshop provides FREE activities and events throughout the year, where you can meet other people, carers and family members, who have all been affected by cancer. For us, it's not about you mastering new craft skills. It's about you taking some valuable time out, having fun and engaging with your creative self. We'll aim to take your mind off the worries and fears that cancer can bring, just for a couple of hours. If you have had a recent or previous diagnosis, if you have been bereaved through cancer or you are a family member or carer in need of a creative escape, you are all very welcome to attend our workshop. We are based a short walk from Wool Station, with off-street parking and disability accessible facilities including a lift for a wheelchair.
