Mindfulness Connected Learning delivers mindfulness courses, events and workshops to organisations, schools communities, young offenders, parents and families. Veronica is a qualified teacher with over 25 years’ teaching experience. She has taught a variety of ages and groups of children and young adults both within mainstream and special education, including children with severe learning difficulties and with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Her motivation in teaching mindfulness is to create a space where people feel safe and valued and where they can explore and experience the benefits of mindfulness practices in a relaxed and comfortable setting. She is committed to teaching children and adults how to integrate mindfulness into everyday life. Veronica works with individuals and groups to embed mindfulness into the culture of organisations and the communities that they house, and she is committed to enhancing working and learning environments by exploring the more challenging aspects of life and work in a safe and supported context. She is motivated to teach people how to still their minds and enrich their lives by developing a curiosity and deep appreciation of life. Through the practice of mindfulness, she helps create working environments where people can flourish and where workers, teachers, parents, young people and children can develop more harmonious, meaningful and connected relationships. Fixation Performing Arts Academy is run by Academy Directors Laura Davitt & Carly Pryke. Fixation was founded in 2012 by Laura Davitt, who created an artistic company of trained performing arts professionals and youth workers to create opportunities for young people and adults to participate in the performing arts and develop new skills in a safe and collaborative environment. In 2014 now Academy Director Carly joined the team that Laura had created and together with over 30 years of combined teaching and performing experience, they formed what we now know as Fixation Academy of Performing Arts. Fixation Academy is a welcoming place for all to flourish, learn and grow. Our team of professionals use their extensive knowledge of the performance industry to provide quality training in disciplines acting, singing, dance, drama and musical theatre for ages 4-18 and adults. Our aim for each person that comes through our doors is to have fun, build confidence, make new friends, learn new skills and express themselves through the arts. Whether you see the performing arts as a fun hobby or potential career path, Fixation Academy is a place for students to discover and shine. We aim to give each child the skills and training necessary to turn their own dreams into a reality. At our Academy students benefit from weekly term time classes that work towards annual full-scale productions, in house shows and other public performances such as community festivals and competitions throughout the year. Fixation Academy of Performing Arts also gives students the opportunity to progress through their exam grades with LAMDA and the Royal Academy of Dance.

We offer full-time and part-time programs at our premises in Birmingham and online through ZOOM. Our alim program is comprehensive. The first two years focus on developing a strong foundation in Arabic grammar and morphology. Fiqh (jurisprudence), tafsir (Qur’anic commentary), hadith, history, and aqidah studies continue throughout. The program culminates with detailed coverage of the six canonical books of hadith. For those who have completed the alim program at our institute or have graduated from another reputable madrasah, we offer takhassus (specialization) courses in hadith and tafsir, as well as ifta (the science of giving Islamic legal rulings). Darul Ilm is actively involved in our local community, by offering short courses on a regular basis, engaging in community projects, and establishing activities for the youth. We offer alimiyah courses and other facilities for women to empower those members of our community who may otherwise not be able to acquire religious knowledge due to domestic needs and childbearing. At a global level, we work to establish links with Muslim communities across the world to develop our networks and promote unity and brotherhood. We also encourage our students to establish maktabs, institutes, and madrasahs to spread knowledge. We helped one of our students in Mexico establish the first Alim/Alimah course in the Spanish world, and also helped with a small maktab/institute in Sweden. Darul Ilm is based in Birmingham and is a registered charity. It runs with the assistance, du´as (prayers), and regular rectification of the senior teachers of Darul Uloom Bury.
