I'm an avid knitter and crocheter, who learnt throughout childhood, & have been teaching knitting & yarn based crafts since 2012. I hold workshops for all ages in Dumfries. I also have two wonderful children . My aim is to spread the love and joy of yarn based crafts to anyone who's willing to give it a try! And to help those who are already on their own crafty path develop and learn new skills!

Richard has been teaching this intro class since 2018 after realising that all the challenges of working with epoxy resin were bound to be frustrating aspiring makers around the world as much as they were for him. After realising that working with epoxy resin was actually quite easy once you knew a few simple tricks and the basic principles, he started inviting you to join him in the workshop to master the tricks of the trade for yourself.

Helen Miles trained in the art of mosaic making with master crafts people in Greece who taught using traditional methods with a focus on Byzantine iconography. She later became interested in Roman mosaics and now makes contemporary pieces for interior and exterior spaces.

With a degree in Graphic Design from the University of La Plata, Argentina, I worked in print production and logo design until I moved to the UK in 1999. I have always had a particular interest in Typography and Calligraphy, and gradually the latter took over. Since 2016, I have focused my career on teaching and producing calligraphy work. I co-founded Love Calligraphy, where I worked until April 2020. I worked with Kirsten Burke on special events through the North West for Jo Malone, Clinique, Molton Brown and La Mer during my time there. Additionally, I have collaborated with Simple Lettering Magazine in two articles about Traditional Copperplate. Now, I work independently from home to better fit my work around my family life. My efforts are entirely behind the CalligrAbility initiative. I am a member of NWCA [http://www.northwestcalligraphers.org.uk/], SSI [https://calligraphyonline.org/], SLLA [http://www.southlondonlettering.co.uk/] and CLAS [http://www.clas.co.uk/]. Since February 2020, I have been collaborating with Joy Daniels [http://joydanielscalligraphy.co.uk/] on the Copperplate Special Interest Group [http://www.clas.co.uk/copperplate-special-interest-group/]. I am also its representative on the CLAS's Management Committee. [https://www.clas.co.uk/committees/] I love travelling and attending calligraphy classes around the country. Meeting fellow calligraphers and great masters keep my motivation high and enrich my work.

We can also arrange one-to-one sessions if there's something specific you're interested in.  Sessions can be run at our studio in Altrincham, or at a venue to suit you. We bring everything so you just need to relax and enjoy a fun, making session!
