Founded in 1988 and based in Southend-on-Sea, Surgical Holdings is a trusted family-run business with over thirty years’ experience spanning four generations. Proudly ISO 13485 and CE Mark accredited, we are skilled Craftsman and suppliers of surgical instruments, specialist products and orthopaedic implants manufacturers to both the NHS and private sector organisations across the globe. However, it isn’t quite enough to say that we manufacture and repair surgical instruments and rigid endoscopes. At Surgical Holdings, we strive for the best possible quality in everything we do. This has been the foundation of our approach ever since George Poole established his own soon-to-be-successful business in 1910, making finely-crafted surgical instruments. George’s passion and commitment to excellence has remained in the family, as he ensured successive generations were taught his unique skills. Today, Philip Coole is Chairman of Surgical Holdings, with his son Daniel at the helm as Managing Director. Daniel is the newest generation of skilled instrument Craftsman in the family. The instruments we manufacture and repair at Surgical Holdings are responsible for saving lives, and this is a responsibility we take very seriously. We do not simply promote a bland list of products, we are passionate about the work we do, standards we meet and we genuinely care about the positive effects it has on our customers, patients and stakeholders. Our ongoing mission is to educate our stakeholders on what they should be demanding from their surgical instruments and standards of repairs they receive. Whilst continually supplying high quality instruments and products and ensure the repair services we offer are the highest in the UK marketplace. There is no compromise, we believe instruments should be repaired with the same care and value, as they were originally manufactured. This is why we only employ the most dedicated, highest-skilled surgical instrument technicians, and why we rigorously control every aspect of the products we repair and manufacture. We also only select the most innovative high quality esteemed products for distribution. Additionally, our carefully selected range of supporting distributed products are always serviced and repaired by our in-house team, to the same rigid specifications as were used in their construction. To ensure the very best service, we regularly refine and innovate our company processes and techniques. We like to use our expertise to elevate our products ranges, to ensure they provide a solution. This was the thought when we launched the Duo Finish Range and the introduction of unique performance coatings. ABC Paramedic Services was set up by our Training and Event Manager, Craig Gray. Craig spent fifteen years working in front line Emergency Services within the Scottish Ambulance Service in Edinburgh. The final six years of this was spent as a First Response Paramedic on a Rapid Response Vehicle dealing predominately with Class A / Red (i.e. potentially life threatening) emergencies. In 2011 Craig became the first Paramedic in the history of the Scottish Ambulance Service to be awarded ‘The Chief Executive’s Special Award’ for displaying the highest levels of commitment and professionalism in his job. Craig’s considerable knowledge and expertise extends to the private sector including delivering First Aid Training to Healthcare Professionals, courses at the Royal College of Surgeons, and providing Medical Cover at events such as ‘T in the Park’, ‘The Edinburgh Tattoo’ and the ‘Queen’s Garden Party’. In 2012, Craig provided Paramedic level cover as Chief Medical Officer at the ‘Urdd National Eisteddfod’ festival in Wales with over 100,000 spectators in attendance. Craig has also employed his medical skills for charitable causes, running a medical clinic in a remote part of North East India as well as being involved in a pioneering ‘out of hospital Cardiac Arrest’ study aimed at improving CPR skills. Craig takes a very personal, hands-on approach to the business and is actively involved in the strategic developments of all training, events, and projects.

The Survey Association, known generally as TSA, is the trade body for commercial survey companies in the UK. The association was formed in 1979 to give a focus for private sector businesses in land and hydrographic survey. It is important to realise, however, that it is not a regulatory body. The role of TSA is to promote best practice amongst its members, provide a forum for members for discussion, debate and continuing professional development and, to the wider audience such as engineers and architects, provide guidance on new methods and techniques and a list of suitably qualified and experienced companies. Today, the association has over 200 companies in membership as full, associate, supplier, affiliate or academic members directly involved in the geospatial profession. TSA is also involved in lobbying Government departments when appropriate and other agencies such as the Environment Agency regarding policies likely to affect or involve the survey profession. TSA meets regularly with RICS and CICES on a range of issues and has established a group called the SLG, or Survey Liaison Group. This body convenes at regular intervals to examine matters of mutual interest and to ensure that there is little or no duplication of effort by the three bodies. Representatives from the Geospatial Commission also regularly join SLG meetings. Advances in information technology have enabled the “personalization” of the learning experience by providing access to learning and assessment resources – anywhere, anytime. eLearn.Punjab aims to facilitate and encourage the use of educational technologies by providing digitized content, relevant supplementary resources, and online assessment tools for students and educators. As a first step, digitized versions of science subject text books for 9th and 10th grades are being made available online – along with links to a sea of supplementary material available over the Web. In future, the same content may also be pre-loaded into laptops or tablets, or made available in the form of CDs. The introduction of online self-assessment features as well as centralized course/content management tools for public schools is also planned.
