Kunst is een vorm van communicatie. Het is niet altijd een neerschrijfbare boodschap, maar wel iets dat werd gecreëerd om iemand te raken. Kunst kan daarom moeilijk bestaan zonder een publiek. Hoe kan je dat publiek bereiken, wat kan je gebruiken om dat publiek te overtuigen om naar jouw werk te komen kijken en vooral welke hulpmiddelen biedt de hogeschool om je daarbij te ondersteunen. Dat zijn de aspecten die aan bod komen in deze workshop. Deze workshop staat open voor studenten, alumni en docenten van LUCA School of Arts.

Try out Reflective Writing - for creativity and clarity

Time: 4pm Date: Thursday 9th November Location: Studio A Writer and director Andrew Legge joins us via Zoom for this exclusive screening event, where we'll be showing his recently released film 'LOLA' in Studio A, followed by a discussion and Q+A. Set during World War 2, the film charts the amazing invention by two sisters of a computer that's able to show glimpses of the future. By altering events in the present, the world changes around the two women, as time and space reach near breaking point. One of the best underground films to come out this year, be sure to come and see it, and then get a chance to speak to the man who made it afterwards!

Date: Monday 11th December Time: 4pm Location: Studio A One of the most important British films of all time, Powell & Pressburger's Black Narcissus will be screened in advance of our December Professional Perspectives guest, Craig McCall, who will join us to speak about the career of Jack Cardiff, one of British cinema's most acclaimed cinematographers ever. Set in a mysterious monastery high in the Himalayas, the film focuses on the mental unravelling of a group of nuns trying to establish a school there, whilst erotic paintings on the ancient palace walls taunt their deepest, darkest desires. Come see the film that won Jack Cardiff the Oscar for Best Cinematography, and that lives on today as a prime example of psychological drama.

Date: Monday 6th November Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, one of the most acclaimed films of the 2000s, is about memory, love and the pain of heartbreak, whilst wrapped up in a brilliant, high-concept conceit: if you could erase someone from your memory, would you do it? This is the question faced by Joel and Clementine, following their relationship and breakup, as they navigate their past together and whether they want to hold onto their memories of each other, from once happy times that have now turned painful. Don't miss the best film ever made about longing for someone you can no longer be with.

DATE: Thursday 11th July TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Chris Jones is one of the lead organisers of the London Screenwriting Festival, and also recently served as Splinter Unit Director of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One. He will be discussing both how students can navigate film festivals and make their work stand out, and also his experiences working in a position of creative control on a large-scale blockbuster film. Be sure to book your tickets in advance for this event.

Date: 12th March 2024 Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Acclaimed actress Ruth Negga will be joining us in a Professional Perspectives session next month, discussing her career, experiences working with many famous directors (Neil Jordan, Jeff Nichols, James Gray & Duncan Jones amongst others) as well as on TV shows such as Preacher, Misfits and Agents of SHIELD. There will also be a Q+A session towards the end where students can ask her questions directly. Be sure to book tickets in advance so that you can secure your place for this exciting event!

Data Done Right - The Value of Good Communication Wouldn't it be great if you could see important textual and graphical information quickly and easily? What if it could be updated automatically or by using a simple refresh? What if you could easily change that information as needed, or see it right now with tools you already have, on multiple devices? In this presentation we will show you all of those things. You'll see reports that are produced in MS Project and MS Excel, graphical reports in Visio, and a dashboard that uses all of these tools. And we'll top it off with a discussion about what information to present and not present. This and other IIL Learning in Minutes presentations qualify for PDUs. Some titles, such as Agile-related topics may qualify for other continuing education credits such as SEUs, or CEUs. Each professional development activity yields one PDU for one hour spent engaged in the activity. Some limitations apply and can be found in the Ways to Earn PDUs section that discusses PDU activities and associated policies. Fractions of PDUs may also be reported. The smallest increment of a PDU that can be reported is 0.25. This means that if you spent 15 minutes participating in a qualifying PDU activity, you may report 0.25 PDU. If you spend 30 minutes in a qualifying PDU activity, you may report 0.50 PDU.

Onze studenten, alumni en docenten zijn ijzersterk in het bedenken van artistieke en creatieve concepten. Maar om van concept te gaan naar realisatie zijn er acht andere bouwstenen die even noodzakelijk zijn. Die bouwstenen vormen samen een business plan. Gelukkig is er met het Canvas Model van Alex Osterwalder een model dat je toelaat om die bouwstenen snel en accuraat te benoemen zodat je creatief concept geen volledig boekdeel nodig heeft om tot stand te komen. Deze webinar is bijzonder handig voor studenten en docenten die overwegen om een LUCAbreakoutsteun aan te vragen. Dit model wordt gebruikt in de beoordeling van de voorstellen.
