Clifton Learning Partnership

clifton learning partnership

Rotherham

The Clifton Learning Partnership is a Company Limited by guarantee with no share capital (Company No. 7566749) and a Registered Charity (Charity registration No. 1142675). Both were incorporated in 2011. The Company and Charity has evolved from over twelve years of work with the Clifton Learning Community of schools initially as an Education Action Zone, with, in addition, a multi-disciplinary Behaviour Improvement Programme Team, which included roles such as Community Development Tutor, Family Learning Tutor, and Mental Health Practitioner. As the political climate changed in 2010 the key stakeholders at the time; the Head Teachers from the nine schools with whom the EAZ worked, requested that the prudently managed funds from the time of the EAZ be invested into the local community in the most sustainable way possible, in order to help and develop the local community to be stronger, more resilient and to have equality of opportunity. They recognised our ability to work with key agencies outside the education structures to provide additionality for families and children beyond the school gates. In 2011 the Clifton Learning Partnership charity was formed. We are intensely proud of our ability to change, grow and develop; responding to a rapidly changing political climate; and continuing to address the presenting need in a form that is most appropriate. We have always been innovative and taken opportunities. Our practice as an EAZ was celebrated nationally, and it was at this time that we developed our highly successful EAZMAG, which we now sell nationally, with all profits coming to Clifton Learning Partnership.

Hove

Our vision is to make art and artists accessible; our mission is to be an exemplar of the democratisation of artistic expression and our values are those of a true labour of love. ENCOUNTERS 2019 EDITION It has been a decade since Encounters became an Open House. This milestone has provoked much reflection. Why is Encounters important? What did we do? What are the characteristics of a successful Open House? The book Encountering Encounters tells how our Open House was created with the goal of sharing an artistic dream with the people that visit the Brighton Festival each year. Our intent was to bring exceptional artists from overseas to mingle with local artists and makers, thereby creating opportunities for encounters that would not otherwise occur. We sought to facilitate encounters through the appreciation of art, thereby forging new connections between people. Encounters’ mission is to make a distinctive contribution to a city that is imbued with a deep artistic culture. Encounters believes in the democratisation of art. Today, this can be realised in new ways. The art Industry is impacted by social and technological innovation, creating never-before-available opportunities. We strive to be a trend-setting pioneer in bringing innovation practices to enrich encounters between viewers, artists, galleries, institutions and collectors. We use unusual art settings and adopt an inclusive curatorial practice to promote social engagement. We recognise that institutions and galleries play a vital role in art appreciation but they can be distant and overwhelming. Encounters is committed to fight against a belief that the appreciation of art is an elitist pursuit confined to a privileged few. This vision, mission and values have enchanted many visitors. Encounters is the most consistently successful Open House in the 35-year history of the Artists Open House Movement, being the winner or in the top three of all open houses for five years in a row. More than 10.000 visitors have enjoyed a unique blend of local and international work. In all, 56 artists from 20 countries have shown a vast and eclectic range of artwork and curated art educational projects. Many of Encounters’ artists come from Latin America, where there is a vibrant, exciting and dynamic art scene. They have brought a new artistic life force to Hove and mingle with our talented local artists who gain from being part of an international show. Encounters has developed beyond the Brighton Festival. In 2015 a new venture, Encounters-on-the-Road, was launched to work with kindred spirits and co-create inclusive art experiences in different parts of the World. Encounters-on-the-Road has shown work from leading Latin American artists in an exhibition in Busan, Korea and, more recently other galleries in the UK and Europe.

She has a shelf full of business awards and was in the top 100 UK female entrepreneurs list by F:entrepeneur as well as being a best selling author in the book ‘Inspirational Women Of The World’ “My life purpose is to save lives” Prior to creating her business Jenni was a police officer in London and experienced a vast number of real first aid emergencies including treating casualties at Edgware Road tube station during its bombing in 2005. In 2014 Jenni (a mum of 3) was sitting in a coffee shop chatting with a friend when her friend’s daughter choked, being an advanced first aider, Jenni knew just what to do. She quickly stepped in and successfully removed the blockage and the little girl recovered perfectly. It was this moment that she realised then that first aid was not something regularly offered to new parents and that so many parents didn’t have basic first aid skills that could so easily save their child’s life. When researching suitable first aid training classes she found that parents were restricted to longer certified classes aimed at the corporate market who often showed frightening videos and told distressing stories. Jenni felt she wanted to educate parents in a way that made them feel happy, confident and empowered rather than terrified and intimidated. Jenni has grown her business from table top to a being multi-award winning franchise with trainers running their own successful Daisy businesses UK wide. She is considered a paediatric first aid expert. She has featured in numerous publications, has a huge celebrity parents portfolio and volunteers her time at many national charity events. Jenni says “We train thousands of parents every year and when you get that call to say a parent saved their child’s life thanks to our class, that is the most unbelievably emotional feeling. We are all so passionate about the importance of first aid and absolutely love what we do.” Daisy First Aid offers fun and fear-free first aid courses designed specifically for parents and child carers. In a two hour class, which takes place in the attendees own home or local venue, the world of emergency first aid unfolds, as parents, grandparents and care givers interact and learn the skills they need to save a life and to treat the most common accidents and emergencies. Babies and breastfeeding are very welcome too. If you are interested in taking one of our paediatric first aid courses, please contact your local Daisy First Aid trainer. We serve many areas

maggie hollinshead Create - I have been creating things for as long as I can remember, my work is mostly mixed media and textiles. I share my creativity as commissions and artist-led garden design. Commission Client - “Wow, you’ve really understood us” Garden Design Clients - “I’m very impressed you have created something special, it’s a real garden” “I can’t believe that’s our garden” Inspire - I am passionate about my creativity and I enjoy helping others to find their creative side through creative workshops and classes Creative Workshop Student - “Maggie is the most inspiring artist/tutor, she is so generous with sharing her knowledge. She encourages you to search deeper to find your own style, she gives and receives lots of pleasure in the process.” Encourage - I also enjoy helping others through creative mentoring and my work delivering creative sessions within NHS Mental Health settings facilitated by Arts for Health Creative Mentoring Client - “I've been running my small, creative hobby-business for several years now with a relative degree of success. It's grown organically over the years without any real business planning and direction. However, in 2022, I decided that I wanted to try and change this approach so that I could start to develop a more sustainable lifestyle business and Maggie's creative mentoring sessions have been hugely beneficial in this process. The distant learning sessions encouraged me to really think about my business goals, strengths and weaknesses and understand more fully the barriers that have been preventing me from moving forward with the business. The one-to-one sessions then provided a safe space to share ideas and worries with Maggie as well as work on the all-important masterplan of things I need 'to-do-' to take the business to the next level from hobby business to professional business. We covered so much in such a short space of time from branding, product ideas and pricing structure to social media strategy and also drank a lot of coffee! It really is hard not to feel inspired in Maggie's company. Her enthusiasm, knowledge and experience is inspirational and hugely uplifting and true to her word, she does indeed have a warm and infectious smile. She really does encourage you to feel that anything is possible and I'm excited to be moving forward with my business plans as 2023 approaches. I would highly recommend Maggie's creative mentoring sessions to anyone just starting out on their creative business venture or to those who have reached a bit of a crossroads and are unsure what steps to take next. With Maggie by your side, you'll come away energised and enthused and with a list of actions to help you develop and grow your business.”
