A fine art woodcarver based in northern England and Wales. Carving nature inspired art spoons and jewellery by axe and knife with naturally fallen wood.”With a background in photography and graphic design but a lifelong love of woodlands and wilderness, I started teaching myself woodcarving in early 2015 as a way to spend more time in the small woodland that I manage in the mountains of North Wales. Using only the tools that I already had for looking after the woodland, my axe and a knife, I began carving wooden spoons from wind fallen trees and branches that I would find and forage for on the woodland floor. After twelve months I abandoned my life as a designer and photographer to pursue my wood carving full time.

After he worked as a newspaper reporter and climbing instructor, Paul became a freelance photographer in 1965. He photographed regularly for The Guardian and The Observer and became director of the Creative Photography course at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham in 1976 - forerunner to all current student-centred higher education courses in the medium. Another notable achievement around this time was the establishment, with his wife, Angela, of The Photographers‘ Place - the UK‘s first residential photography workshop - at their Peak District home.

I am a photographer and educator based in Hampshire, on the south coast of the United Kingdom with some 30 years experience combining photographic assignments with lecturing in Media and the Visual Arts. In addition to undertaking a range of professional photographic assignments for corporate and individual clients, I have been engaged by a number of colleges, education centres and other learning establishments in both the public and private sectors, working primarily with post 16 and adult learners. I have accumulated an extensive knowledge of photographic techniques and technologies along with additional specialist skills in new media such as video/moving image production, desk top publishing, graphics and design for the web. As a photographer I believe it is extremely important to sustain personal development, to continually extend my knowledge and refine my skills. I have always maintained a commitment to independent creative practice through self directed projects, a number of which have been exhibited in galleries across the UK. As a fully qualified teacher I am highly motivated to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for the visual arts and I fully subscribe to the ethos of lifelong learning.”
