Cambridge Gymnastics Academy CIC is a non-profit organisation, which was founded in May 2012. The company Director Kayleigh Plaza, had a vision to provide affordable gymnastics for all, no matter age, gender, income or ability/disability. The club has since evolved and with an incredibly dedicated staff team, together fundraised, saved and received grants from both the Council and Sport England totalling £250,000. In May 2016, CGA opened its doors to a dedicated facility at North Cambridge Academy. CGA prides itself on being a hub for the community. Sessions are available from 6 week old babies to adult, from recreational to elite, with the lowest priced classes in the area and we even offer a 10% discount for people on means tested benefits. After our pre-school classes, we offer free refreshments so families can build relationships with others. We offer classes for minority groups such as women’s only, over 50’s and specially designed disability sessions. We are an inclusive club, so in the evenings children with disabilities join in with our normal recreational sessions. We deliver curriculum support to the NCA students and run a youth night on a Friday evening to provide local young people with a safe environment. In 2017 our success & hard work was recognised by British Gymnastics and we were selected as 1 of 3 clubs in the whole of the UK to be shortlisted for the award ‘British Gymnastics Club of the Year’. Following this success CGA were also awarded the 2017 winners of the ‘Living Sports Community Club of the Year’ fighting off strong competition from sports clubs across Cambridgeshire. Both huge achievements for the club. The club is a registered member of both British Gymnastics and Eastern Counties Gymnastics Association and has a number of fully qualified coaches & judges up to National Level who are DBS checked, safeguard & first aid qualified.

Our teaching techniques at MAKE are very holistic. All of our students design and make items that they want to create for their level of skill. From basic skirts, curtains, pillows, simple pencil cases through to ultimate fashionista jackets! With my younger teenage fashion students every project is more exciting as its bespoke to them and their vision...just like a mini fashion school. We're just there for you on your journey, enabling you to actually make it! We work with students from concept, learning how to measure, fabric selection through to finally sewing your final project from curtains to clothing. Most of our current students couldn't sew or use a machine before they came to MAKE. After our regular weekly sessions, they now make clothes that they actually want to wear and create curtains or bags that make their friends envious! Anyone can learn to sew, design and make. All you need is a bit of encouragement, patience and a nice cuppa to help you along your way!

Our vision is to inspire, challenge and innovate to improve outcomes for all children but specifically the most vulnerable children and their families. We provide training courses, leadership and research opportunities and bespoke school to school support in all aspects of early years work. The Pen Green Centre was set up as part of a substantive under-fives initiative and is housed in a 1930s former comprehensive school. At the Centre we offer high quality education and care for children and their families. We also offer information and support services for parents through home visiting, group work, health interventions, adult education and training as well as the professional development, training and dissemination of good practice though the Research, Development and Training Base, and the Teaching School. The principle functions of the Centre have remained constant over the last 37 years although we have significantly developed the accommodation. We have maintained our principles of operation; withstood radical changes in local and national government; responded creatively to new legislation and to major demographic changes, and influenced national government policy in early years.
