5UP CIC was formed in January 2020 at 13 Raleigh Industrial Estate, Camp Lane, Handsworth, Birmingham, B21 8JF, as a community interest company (CIC). 5UP CIC’s company registration number is 12405631. It is a special type of limited company which exists to benefit the community rather than its private shareholders. The funds will be used for the benefit of the social objectives rather than for the individual shareholders.

In the UK, a bachelor's degree is usually one year lower than the American system, so you will get a bachelor's degree within three years. However, this is not the case for Scotland, where bachelor's degrees take four years, as in the United States.

Our mission is to develop the emotional intelligence, social and practical skills of young people between the ages of 9 - 21 within Birmingham with special focus placed upon young people who live in regeneration areas. This includes young people who are either disengaged with education, at risk of becoming disengaged with education, in care or at risk of going into care, struggling with anxiety, depression and low self-esteem; involved in anti-social / criminal behaviour and at risk of going to prison and those soon to be released from prison back into the community.

Driven by a desire to create texture and engage the senses, my work reflects my interest in haptic perception: - our instinct to touch and the importance of touch to the human experience. Taking an experimental approach to the ancient craft of felt making, I explore material combinations and processes, to celebrate tactility. Investigating the relationship between actual and perceived textures, translucency and opacity, I create functional objects with surfaces that invite physical interaction with the materials and challenge the perception of felt.
