Hello. I’m Jon Reed, a writer and social media consultant. I’ve worked in social media since its earliest days, and have helped thousands of people use it for marketing through my writing, teaching and consultancy. I previously worked in publishing for 10 years, including as publishing director for McGraw-Hill. ‘I am an artist, choreographer and performer trained in Butoh since 1992. My desire to see this type of work grow and evolve in the UK led me to develop this organisation. Audiences and participants for this art form are now fully established in the UK and Butoh has now become quite mainstream, and as familiar to students and audiences as African, Contemporary or Indian Dance. But it is important to acknowledge that Butoh is also always best when it’s not trying to be mainstream – it is an edge dance, a dance of the underground, a dance in the shadows’. (Marie-Gabrielle Rotie 2020) A Tiny History of Butoh in the UK. In the 1980’s Lizzie Slater (writer/historian) was very active in promoting Butoh and organising performances and workshops for Japanese practitioners including: Sankai Juku, Natsu Nakajima, Mutsutaka Ishi and Kazuo Ohno.

Bex is a yoga teacher and writer based in East London. It was in recovery for an eating disorder that Bex first found yoga, began to settle into herself, and feel at home in her body again. It was this homecoming and the simple joy of mindful movement, that inspired her to take her first yoga teacher training in 2019. She has since completed over four hundred additional hours of study and remains inspired by how the practice encourages us to show up as ourselves. Alongside her yoga teaching, Bex writes about living with mental illness, sharing her honest (and sometimes hilarious) experiences of OCD and clinical depression on social media and online. She also writes poetry and has just completed her first novel, too. To this day, Bex remains a dedicated student of a yoga, and still sees her time on the mat as an arrival home.

Laura Fyfe is an award-winning writer with short stories, non-fiction and poetry published in literary magazines internationally, including Northwords Now and Butcher’s Dog. Laura has nearly twenty years experience in motivating writers, as well as a M.Ed in Educational Enquiry and an M.Litt in Creative Writing under her belt. She travels Scotland to facilitate writing workshops and adjudicate writing competitions and is a prominent voice in Scotland’s writing community, serving on the board of the Scottish Writers’ Centre and the Scottish Poetry Library. Laura publishes books under her imprint, Figment Books and has published a book as an app as well, ChildsPlay app. She predominantly writes poetry and novels and loves experimenting with new ideas and techniques. She has written papers and led academic classes examining participatory ethics within the arts, social and welfare sectors. The focus of Utopia Arts is taking forum theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed techniques into the community to health and wellbeing professionals and it's service users. Graham Lucas - Technical Director Graham is a video & film director and producer. Co-founder of Spot On Productions Ltd which produced TV documentaries and corporate videos. Graham directed and produced, “There’s something About Me I Like!” a video musical about bullying. Theatre, video, lighting and sound technician. Fran Carpenter is the Managing Director of Frantic Productions Ltd. Frantic was formed in 1998. A prolific writer of school music resources and Christmas nativity plays and musicals, Fran has more than 20 years' experience of teaching early years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 as a music co-ordinator and specialist class music teacher. Fran's catalogue of school musicals and music education resources is growing all the time, and her nativity plays and musical productions have been performed worldwide in thousands of primary schools. Fran also worked for several years in school television and educational video production. She worked as a member of the producer's team on a series of BBC's Look and Read and on a TEFL video for Pearson Education, and was a co-writer of the accompanying teachers' resource packs. She is a member of the Orff Society UK and much of her music for children is inspired by the creative Orff approach to music education. In addition to her writing work, Fran runs music workshops in nurseries and schools and CPD teacher training courses for music hubs and teacher training colleges. These courses are highly regarded and provide teachers and students with a whole host of ideas for creative music making with early years and primary children.
