Welcome to Guardian Defence. Specialist trainers in Krav Maga Self Defence Manchester. We provide self defence classes with techniques that are primarily based on Krav Maga. Our lead instructor Dave Kay successfully completed his Krav Maga instructor qualification in Israel in 2010. All of our instructor team are qualified BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award Self-Defence Instructors. Instructor John D is also a specialist boxing instructor. We run specialist Self Defence Seminars in Manchester & Bury four times a year.

At the heart of education and innovation The Cardiac Diagnostics Education Centre is based within the North West Heart Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital which forms part of the wider Manchester Heart Institute of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. As an IQIPS Cardiac Physiology and BSE accredited department we have many years of experience in running advanced cardiology courses, launching our new portfolio of courses under the ‘Cardiac Diagnostics Education Centre’ name in 2021.   With over 65 staff members at all levels we provide diverse training to support the needs of school leavers, undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as qualified healthcare professionals. Our learners include students, AHPs, nurses, physiologists, registrars, GPs and consultants. Our aim is to deliver the highest quality cardiac education to healthcare professionals to encourage continuous improvement and progression in cardiac knowledge in order to provide the best, most advanced patient care. We are proud to provide the BSc and MSc clinical cardiology teaching for both the Practitioner Training Programme (PTP) and Scientist Training Programme (STP) run by the National School of Healthcare Science on behalf of Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). In collaboration with the British Society for Echocardiography (BSE), Health Education England and MMU we also facilitate the 18 month echocardiography training programme (ETP) which includes a Postgraduate certification in Echocardiography and a BSE Level 2 accreditation in transthoracic echocardiography. We are also a selected National Practice Assessment Centre for the BSE. In line with our commitment to education we also host numerous apprentice, PTP, STP and echocardiography students each year throughout their learning and ensure they are incorporated into our wider team to enhance their experience. We also offer work experience for candidates of all ages (school leavers through to career changes) to provide unrivalled access to the crucial work we perform - this helps to raise the profile and showcase the importance of cardiac physiology as a discipline. As an extension to our in-house education we also run external courses for other a wide range of other healthcare providers. For thousands of years, compassion has been seen as the antidote to suffering and harmfulness. The definition of compassion used by the Compassionate Mind Foundation is "...a sensitivity to suffering in self and others with a commitment to try to alleviate and prevent it." Compassionate courage lies in the willingness to see into the nature and causes of suffering - in ourselves, others and the human condition. The Compassionate Mind Foundation was founded as an international charity in 2006 by Professor Paul Gilbert and colleagues including Prof Deborah Lee, Dr Mary Welford, Dr Chris Irons, Dr Ken Goss, Dr Ian Lowens, Dr Chris Gillespie, Diane Woollands and Jean Gilbert. We believe that one of the greatest challenges facing humanity is how to stimulate compassionate ways of thinking and problem solving for the benefit of all. Adam Cresswell - The Lawyer He / Him Before The Lawyer and The Nurse met, Adam was studying law after graduating from the University of Liverpool at the College of Law of England and Wales’s Birmingham campus - then following up with the Bar Vocational Course at the same institution in London. Adam then went to work for the Crown (CPS) in Worcester before returning to civil law within a family firm in Corby, where he was employed as Head of Civil Litigation, and later became a Director and shareholder in the firm. He remained at the firm for over a decade before leaving to establish The Lawyer & the Nurse. Adam has always had a lot to say! His strengths lie in his knowledge of health and social care law and regulations, which is underpinned by his strong advocacy skills. The part of his work that he most enjoys is assisting families with applications before NHS England’s Independent Review Panels, or indeed any tribunal setting where there is an argument to be made out for what is right as opposed to what the Government wants to pay. Never try to call Adam on a Sunday morning as he religiously listens to The Archers omnibus - and despite Ambridge being a fictional village, he insists that he will retire there some day. Adam will also say that he likes to collect antiques, though his children (18 and 21) regard these the same way they do him - 'dusty and tacky'.
