Having taken early retirement, I am now ready for the new challenge of promoting the importance and love of cooking in the wider community and decided to join Cook Stars in order to further this goal. I just loved the name 'Cook Stars'. Cooking allows every child the opportunity to shine in their own unique way and I'm so excited to be running children's cooking classes. I instantly knew I needed to be involved in this business in order to create an abundance of 'stars' armed with essential life skills. Learning to cook is such an important life skill but unfortunately over the years less and less time has been given to this subject in the school curriculum and many children have not been able to experience what they should have. Cooking has never been more important than it is now with increased obesity rates, diabetes and other food related disorders. I am so excited to be able to contribute to improving a person's health and well-being through cooking. I am married with two children, both in their twenties. They have been away at university but still want to come home for some 'proper food'!! In my spare time I like to follow sport and I am a Cardiff City Season ticket holder. I also swim regularly and recently swam the length of the English Channel for charity. Holidaying somewhere hot is also a must!

Sullivan Upper is a co-educational, inter-denominational, voluntary grammar school. The school was founded in 1877 and, since 1939, has occupied extensive grounds on the edge of Holywood. The school’s aims remain very much as they originally were: to provide the best possible education for all pupils, regardless of race, sex, background or religious denomination. Pupils come to Sullivan from a large catchment area, covering North Down, Ards and East Belfast. We provide for all our pupils as broad and balanced a curriculum as possible; we support it (as our motto lamh foisdineach an uachtar ‘the gentle hand foremost’ suggests) with a much-praised pastoral care system; and we extend it through a tremendous range of games, clubs, societies and other extracurricular activities. A truly dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff helps all of our pupils to develop their talents to the full and to prepare themselves effectively for the challenges and responsibilities of adult life. Our emphasis is strongly academic and we place a high value on academic achievement. Pupils entering the school at age 11 begin a 5-year course of study leading to GCSE examinations, in which they will be expected to enter for at least 9 subjects, and it is anticipated that the vast majority of those who take GCSE examinations will remain at school for a further 2 years to take GCE AS and Advanced Level courses before heading off to universities at home or across the water, including Oxford and Cambridge. Our proud record of tremendous results in public examinations shows that all pupils are empowered to realise their potential.

Cheltenham Tutors Ltd was founded at the start of the pandemic with the purpose of providing affordable and accessible tuition to students. With schools closing and all learning being remote, we thought that there was a need to offer additional educational support to schools, families, and children. We also thought that this tuition should be accessible to all. We therefore provided affordable online tuition throughout the pandemic and we worked with local schools and families to deliver hundreds of hours of online tutoring. 9am to 3pm each day, we logged on to support students in their learning and to offer 1-2-1 teaching. We greatly enjoyed working with all the wonderful schools, families, and students and making a difference to the education of many children. Now that life is returning to normal and schools are fully open again, we continue to offer affordable tuition to schools and we are happy to take on private clients as well. We offer our tutoring predominantly face to face. What we do We specialise in meeting students where they are at and moving them forward in their learning. Because we are run by teachers, we know what students need to cover in their curriculum, where they should be academically, and how best to accelerate progress in learning. We also believe that all students are capable of making good progress, and that it is normal to struggle and need extra help. The tutoring we provide is professional, effective, and supportive. After several years of experience teaching EAL to all age groups, she began teaching IB Diploma Programme English and ToK in 2002. Since then she has also taken on the roles of examiner and workshop leader for the IB. Her perspective has been shaped and informed by her varied experience and her teaching in very different and diverse contexts in Greece, Germany, the UK and China. Additionally, her experience from working at residential schools has enhanced her awareness of the impact of holistic education on teaching and lifelong learning. Her understanding of the challenges of the interaction of national curricula with the IB Diploma Programme as well using English as the medium of instruction in international schools have become an integral feature of her professional agenda. We have always been passionate about helping others and, during the pandemic, we saw the anxieties of parents trying to keep up with, and understand, their child’s learning. We could see what parents really wanted was support and guidance and we started to think how we could offer this through ‘Tutor Your Child’. We decided to put together a programme which will help and guide families through each school year for maths and English, nurture confidence and mental health as well as try and support any additional needs. ‘Tutor Your Child’ is an online subscription service for parents of children Reception to Year 6, to help with maths and/or English. Each week, parents receive a short video showing them what to teach and how to teach it, with supporting activities. By the end of the academic year, parents will have covered the skills within the curriculum with their child in small, manageable steps and been part of their child’s learning journey. There will be assessment opportunities along the way so they can keep track of their child’s progress. We are passionate about children’s mental health so ‘Tutor Your Child’ includes helpful advice through regular blog articles and access to our ‘Wellbeing Zone’; offering guidance for supporting children’s self-esteem and developing a positive attitude to themselves and others. We have been friends for many years with Maryanne having considerable expertise as a SENCO and Deputy Head and Sue spending many years working as a private tutor and teacher, and hope eventually we can grow ‘Tutor Your Child’ to help many families nationally. Restorative and relational practice is an emerging Social Science, adopted in multiple ways across the UK and beyond by Police and Crime Commissioners, Schools, Local Authorities, Health and Social Care Settings, Prison and Probation Services to address a wide variety of challenges, including: • Positive mental health and wellbeing • Organisational culture change • Staff retention and a reduction in sick leave • Improving attendance, attainment and behaviour in schools • Fostering inclusive residential environments and a reduction in re-offending In 2012, the Restorative Thinking team began delivering face to face training and coaching. In 2013 we also started to develop intervention programmes for a variety of settings and groups: prisons and probation services, schools, youth offending services, parents and carers. Our parenting programme won the CANparent Quality Mark in 2014 and our curriculum programme for primary schools won the Teach Primary Resources Award in 2019. In 2020 we began to develop e-Learning CPD, creating our own learning platform and an innovative blended learning offer for all our working partners, allowing organisations and individuals to access restorative and relational practice via: • e-Learning CPD • Consultation • Face to face training/coaching • Zoom/Teams training/coaching • Action Learning Sets • Supervisions • Guided self-study • Restorative Practice Intervention Programmes Restorative Thinking has a comprehensive offer for working with colleagues in the field of restorative and relational practice. Our team continuously strives to operate and co-operate differently and better – being purposeful about improving our own brand of restorative and relational practice, guided by our belief in (and growing evidence base of) positive outcomes for those we work with.
