The Dance Lab offers a wide range of classes and lessons meeting the needs of all ballroom dancers. Owned and managed by Stefano, Natasha, Damiano and Laura we are a family run business and for all four of us, dance has been the centre of our lives. With a passion for ballroom dancing, we are dedicated to bring to you the best possible service with fantastic facilities, great music, experienced teachers and a variety of classes and special events. Thank you for visiting the Valence School website. We are proud to share with you the excellent work we do with children and young people who have physical disabilities and complex medical needs. Our school is unique within the maintained sector in the whole of southern England. We cater for students aged 4 to 19 and have both day and boarding places. We have a large site with high quality teaching, social care and health care facilities. A staff team of over 200 people provides specialist teaching, social care, therapies and nursing care to an exceptionally high standard. Our overall aim is to enable every child and young person to achieve meaningful independence. Students flourish in a supportive but challenging environment, making good educational progress and achieving a range of accreditation as they get older. There is excellent support to enable students to achieve functional communication, mobility and skills for daily living. We are a Foundation Special School and are part of the Kent SEN Trust, a cooperative trust of ten schools working together to improve outcomes for all the children and young people attending the schools. In 2008 Valence became a specialist Sports College and this status plays a significant role in raising students’ achievements and their participation in high quality physical education and sport. The School works proactively with parents and external professionals to provide holistic support for every child and young person. "We encourage, enable, develop, mentor, facilitate, empower and support local creative arts practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds." Since our Foundation, in September 2014, we have staged over 120 exhibitions showcasing a varied body of work, by artists both emerging and established. Encompassing a diverse and multi-disciplinary range of artistic practices including: Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Illustration, Photography, Sound, Video and Performance Art. A comprehensive list of all of our past exhibitions can be found under 'Portfolio'. Our overarching ‘Philosophy’ is to actively encourage, enable, develop, mentor, facilitate, empower and support local creative arts practitioners from a wide range of background with a priority to engage in discussion around accessibility within the arts in relation to mental health, financial hardship and institutional bias. We have also provided work placements to a number of European students, via the Erasmus + and Gecko programme. Partnering with local Venues, Institutes and schools , we aim to develop a strong community that has access to free space, free mentoring and the ability to grow and learn from each others valuable experience and skills. The spaces are offered for hire and for free depending on the nature of the request and is offered to both emerging artists or collectives that deserve a space to explore and harness potential, or established artists with a strong visual aesthetic. Our initiative is to offer this space first and foremost to west-midlands based artists who wish to strengthen their local artistic community and create a discourse for regeneration. We curate approx one show per month in our two exhibition spaces and these are either from chosen submitted proposals or from exceptional and forward thinking artists that we find on our travels. In-between these exhibitions we encourage groups or collectives with a passion for community welfare and development to use the spaces for poetry , music, discussions, rehearsals , workshops or their own curatorial interests. Based in Llanberis, in the heart of Snowdonia National Park; Mountain Independence specialise in running rock climbing, mountaineering and Mountain Training Qualification courses. Our ethos is to run fun, friendly and relaxed courses helping people develop the confidence and skills to enjoy their own adventures in the outdoors. Stu Lade, Mountain Independence Mountain Independence is run by Stuart Lade, I’m a keen climber and mountaineer of nearly 20 years with adventures throughout the UK and across the world. From starting out instructing in a number of climbing walls I have progressed through the Mountain Training schemes to gain both the Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor and the Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor awards, the two highest qualifications for climbing and mountaineering activities in the UK. I specialise in climbing, mountaineering and hill walking activities and throughout my career I have, and continue to, work freelance for numerous organisations instructing and coaching clients at all levels. I work on the majority of courses, but you will also benefit from the input of other carefully selected staff members from time to time. We only use qualified instructors, with extensive local mountain experience; and a passion for sharing their knowledge with others. Additionally all our staff are dedicated professionals, being members of AMI / MTA and engaging in continuing professional development; not to mention being friendly folk : ) Our ethos for Mountain Training qualifications courses is not only to use highly qualified and experienced instructors, but also current and active freelancers doing the work of the award schemes that they are delivering. We’re based right on the high street in Llanberis, from our home in Snowdonia National Park. We have a quiet, private space for Mountain Independence where we run morning meetings and evening lectures; equipped with facilities for weather briefings, presentations and lots of resources.
