Christel House Europe

Please help us to break the cycle of poverty that entraps children and prevents them from becoming productive members of society. Children don’t choose to be born into poverty. Most grow up never realizing their human potential. Instead, they face physical and psychological trauma—hunger, malnutrition, disease, low self-esteem and lack of opportunity. Christel House is much more than a school. We give children a hand-up, not a handout, by providing a rigorous academic education supported by programmes to develop the whole child. We don’t just educate, or feed, or provide health care—we do all of these things from early childhood through early adulthood. And we continue to mentor our students for 5+ years after they graduate from Christel House. The results? Christel House works! Since 2001 in India and South Africa we have impacted the lives of over 2,300 children, their families and communities. In India, fewer than 10% of all children ever get to college. In South Africa, 52% of young people cannot find work. Approximately 86% of graduates from our schools in these countries are now working, in apprenticeships, or continuing their studies full or part-time at college or university. Their futures are secure, their ambitions realised. Anubis Training

The Company was formed to fill a recognised gap in the market for specialised, relevant, realistic training. Many companies are so worried about being sued that their training has been sanitised to the point where it no longer resembles the subject being taught. In the first aid industry, we believe this in itself is dangerous practice and as such pay particular attention to the statement made in the HSE guidelines whereby: “Training must be made relevant to the client’s work place.” Lots of courses are one course for all, this, we believe, does not fulfill the above criteria and so at ANUBIS we specialise in producing specific courses for specific groups. Our clients include: Doctors and Surgery Staff, Journalists, Outdoor Instructors, Helicopter Pilots and Crews, Expedition Leaders, Environmental Groups, Childminders, Nursery Staff and School Teachers, Pony Trekking and Off Road Vehicle Enthusiasts. As a Company we are approved by FIAB (First Aid Industry Body). All our instructors are able to teach from experience gained whilst dealing with casualties in a wide variety of environments. Although our courses are run in a relaxed informal manner we are always striving to maintain a professional standard, to this end we regularly run in-house training sessions with all our staff and encourage regular attendance of medical seminars and discussions. Equal Opportunities Policy We are committed to ensuring that all individuals are treated fairly and are valued irrespective of race, gender, health, social class, sexual preference or marital status. The same policy applies on the grounds of age or disability.

Costs We are not a business and try as much as possible to keep training costs to a minimum. Family groups are encouraged to attend. Our current fees can be seen here. We collect payment monthly, in advance, via bank transfer. We ask students to commit to the full month. This helps us manage the class size cost effectively, and regular attendance is essential to making progress. Some fees (e.g. grading fees) are collected via Spond. Sparring equipment is essential for protection when you start sparring. Students are permitted to spar after successfully passing their first grading. See our equipment list for more information. We strongly recommend purchasing gear from Academy Sports in Derby. When you visit Academy Sports please let them know you are attending Littleover Taekwon-Do so they know to provide the appropriate gear. We don’t receive any commission. If sparring kit is purchased from elsewhere we can’t guarantee it will be acceptable for use within LTKD. Please check with us first. Doboks (the white suits we train in) are ordered via your instructor.

St Michael’s Catholic College Ethos and Expectations The College is committed to bringing each student to the fullness of life through education. At St Michael’s we recognise there are no limits to a child’s potential and our aim is simple; to facilitate academic and personal success by bringing each person to the fullness of life through education within an environment that embraces Gospel and Salesian values – of serving others, respect, tolerance, consistent discipline, loving kindness, reflection, forgiveness and the celebration of success. It is our belief therefore that students grow into mature and responsible adults through following the Salesian principles of RUAH: Respect: Recognising and respecting the presence of Christ in every person Understanding: Being committed to learning and striving for academic excellence Affection: Sustaining high quality relationships as a result of loving kindness and consistent discipline Humour: Developing resilience by maintaining a balanced and optimistic approach to life Our students are expected to demonstrate these values through their actions and interactions in the following ways: Respect: Demonstrating Gospel and British values in your words and actions, serving the college and local community, being an ambassador for St Michael’s. Understanding: Being committed to your education, having excellent attendance and punctuality, working as hard as you can in lessons and at home, your books reflect consistently high effort and your behaviour in and around the college is excellent. Affection: Being polite and respectful to all staff and visitors, being helpful, working well with others, supporting and encouraging others to do well. Humour: Displaying positive attitudes to learning, overcoming challenges, participating in house and college events, doing your best to realise your ambitions. The success of St Michael’s Catholic College is built on these shared values. St John Bosco famously said “It is not enough for children to be loved; they must know that they are loved. At St Michael’s Catholic College, we strive to live up to this ideal every day.
