Abi’s background is in youth work and she has collaborated with a number of organisations to develop participatory approaches to working with vulnerable adolescents. She has worked with The International Centre: Researching Child Sexual Exploitation, Violence and Trafficking at the University of Bedfordshire, supporting specialist social care teams in Wigan and Rochdale to implement strengths and participatory approaches to Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE). Abi co-wrote training for these teams with Dr Camille Warrington on behalf of Research in Practice. At the University of Bedfordshire, Abi also worked on the LEAP project (2015-17) with Dr Kate D'Arcy. Abi wrote training tools for young people and professionals across Europe, in order to respond to young people's experiences of sexual violence and to support efforts to prevent sexual violence. The three-day youth facilitator training programme is called “Life-skills, leadership and limitless potential" (LLLP). All these programmes provide knowledge and tools to apply participatory approaches to practice with young people.

Broomfields Youth Project (BYP) is a multi award-winning voluntary Christian youth work partnership that seeks to be a signpost and support for young people. Being part of the local community, and working in partnership with multiple agencies, BYP look to support ANY 13-17 year olds in our local community to support and signpost young people who want help with emotional and mental health needs. BYP's aim is to welcome, value and reflect the love we have been shown to the young people who come to us. We want all young people to feel like they belong and have a purpose. The 'Shack' youth centre was built to allow BYP to develop beyond our original Friday night intervention work, by creating a space where deeper relationships can encourage change. We now focus much of our resource around supporting and leading Bridgewater High with their work in the areas of mental and emotional wellbeing. Since BYP's inception in Nov 2009 the local Police stats have shown a consistent reductions in anti-social behaviour in the area. Wildlings & Wellbeing CIC aims to reduce social isolation and improve mental well-being through nature connection and social engagement, by providing accessible and inclusive outdoor sessions at several locations throughout the Doncaster borough. We encourage Doncaster residents to get outdoors in all weathers and improve physical development whilst learning transferable life skills. We provide after school and extracurricular activities for children and young people and are a registered destination for Children’s University. Our nurture and well-being sessions are for personal and spiritual development. Our team of graduate professionals have backgrounds in child development, teaching, nursing, well-being and holistic therapies and youth work. Working in a natural environment helps to create a holistic approach to learning and development. Attendees will develop their physical, social and emotional needs through a person-centred long-term educational journey, improving confidence and well-being. Wildlings will be working closely with the safer communities teams and family hubs across Doncaster, in addition to other local community organisations and charities. Adult well-being sessions are also available, to meet up, have a chat around the campfire and learn new skills for personal development.

Engage Renfrewshire is a third sector interface (TSI); this means that we support local charities and other not-for-profit groups. Now in its 12th year Engage Renfrewshire support local organisations to be well managed, well resourced, well represented and well connected. Engage Renfrewshire provides advice and support to all community focussed groups who want to start up or develop further. We support social enterprises, community development trusts, charitable groups, mutual aid groups and more. We help groups to build capacity and to be safe, by providing information, advice and training for everything from charitable structures to funding. We have a comprehensive volunteering service. We support volunteer involving organisations with recruitment and volunteer support, and work with individuals to find them rewarding and uplifting volunteer opportunities. We also work with local charities and public sector bodies to promote volunteering for all. Our financial services social enterprise, Engage Finance, offers payroll, HR and financial services to individuals and organisations in Renfrewshire and beyond. Our space in Ferguslie Park is a community hub where we host training and networking opportunities as well as hosting other third sector organisations and charities. We are part of local community planning and actively support collaborative working with the public and private sectors to ensure that people and services are working together, in the most effective way possible. We support and advise many community agendas across Renfrewshire including Renfrewshire’s Health and Social Care Partnership, Local Employability Partnership, Future Paisley, RenSEN (Renfrewshire Social Enterprise Network), and Renfrewshire’s Youth Work Network.

Project 4 Youth Empowerment (P4YE) is a Community Interest Company born by four friends who became tired of constantly speaking about issues impacting young people negatively, so they decided to do something about it. Concerned about the number of young people involved in, or on the verge of criminality, unemployed, or not in education or training, our team decided to try to change the narrative by dedicating tailored programmes for young people. We assist young people and families by offering a range of support such as group and 1:1 mentoring, online workshops, case study workshops, a weekly youth club, advocacy, and signposting to other professional services. Prevention, intervention, and diversional work is at the forefront of what we do and what we aim for with our young people. We have been trained in Conflict Resolution and mediation and work to resolve instances that can often lead to situations of serious youth violence by using our bespoke methods. Our team has many years of experience of working with young people in a variety of settings such as youth work, teaching, specialised gang work, outreach work and working with young people with special educational needs (SEN). We also have experience in leadership, project management and media and we use our skill sets when developing projects and programmes.

Holistically, we also support family sessions alongside the children, in parallel workshops called The Parenthood Academy: Self development for parents, as well as exploring strategies on progressive parenting for the millennials. The multi award-winning Manhood Academy for Boys was birthed by 8 men who shared a single vision. Following a trip to Gambia by 4 of the co-founders of Manhood Academy, in February 2016 a community call out brought them together in the same room, meeting at an Ethiopian restaurant in South London. At the end of the round table meeting they unanimously chose to “Be the change we wish to see in the world” by collectively establishing The Manhood Academy.Each founder previously holding a distinguished track record in youth work, from a BAFA award winning senior educator to working on the streets of London with urban youth. The Manhood Academy officially launched to the community at Park View Academy, London on October 15th, 2016.A curriculum was co-designed from the collective wealth of experience of the founders, and the nameManhood Academy, Womanhood Academy & Parenthood Academy were coined. Established under the umbrella (CIC) community interest company name: Lifehood Academy on 15 May 2017. The Manhood Academy program was implemented with the intention of exposing our young people to character building experiences, tests and master classes.All geared towards shifting young people’s paradigm, from the chronic news headlines, school disenfranchisement and stereotypes some of our young people manifest as a self-fulfilling prophecy.
