We provide small groups with the individualised support, assistance and / or expertise they need but do not have amongst their volunteers and cannot afford to 'buy in.' An example of this is acting as a banker by holding monies in trust and paying suppliers direct on the group's behalf when asked to do so. This simplifies the administrative burden greatly for groups and gives them more time to focus on what they set out to do. We also provide Governance advice so groups can get less bogged down in red tape. Most sail-training programs focus on the essential hard skills. After years of experience in the professional maritime industry, we decided to not only cover expedition sailing skills in a Morse Alpha Expedition but also emphasize crisis management, leadership, professionalism, and camaraderie. These are the skills that will keep you and your crew safely working together even in a crisis situation. Our programs cover a broad curriculum of hard skills such as sail theory, weather, technology, voyage planning, first aid at sea, engines, traditional navigation, emergency drills (MOB, drogue, fire, etc), VHF protocol, RADAR, anchoring, and more. But it doesn’t stop there. We also discuss communication and leadership, bridge resource management (BRM), maritime law and conduct, etc. Our philosophy is that even when you aren’t sailing a commercial vessel, you are still bound by the same laws, weather challenges, crew dynamics, and physical forces. Therefore, recreational sailing shouldn’t be taken lightly. But on the flipside – we love to laugh, bake cookies on cold days, dip in the ocean, and have fun. This was me 12 years ago, aged 16 and weighing 15 stone and 8 pounds. I battled with my weight for much of my childhood, averaging a weight gain of a stone a year. This had a significant and negative impact on my emotional wellbeing and I became very creative in my attempts to cover the embarrassment I felt about my physical presentation. Not only was my self- esteem on the floor, so was my confidence. I remember Fridays at school very well, it was the day we had swimming which meant having to expose my physical form in front of my peers which I found humiliating and difficult to deal with. This ended with me trying every trick in the book to avoid swimming including skiving and feigning illness. My weight issues impacted on my passion for golf too, during the summer months I continued to wear a jumper in an effort to hide my body. I tried to lose weight through yo-yo dieting, self-education and slimming pills but nothing seemed to work and I was left feeling de-motivated and with my self-confidence at an all-time low. By the time I reached young adulthood, I had become very frustrated with the way I looked and knew that it was preventing me from reaching my full potential in life and I accepted that I had to make changes. I plucked up the courage to join my local gym and have never looked back. It was hard initially, I felt I was being judged by my size and initially the embarrassment did not leave me. All summer I would be training in the gym doing a mixture of cardio, weights and circuit training, this was in addition to playing several rounds of golf each week. My aim was to stay active all summer and this strategy achieved results; pounds were dropping off each week and my confidence grew as a result, I was more confident with the girls and was able to go swimming without being self- conscious.

We provide bespoke training courses on topics concerning imaging, radiation safety and legislation.Training is delivered by a team of experts including RPAsRadiation Physics is made up of Health Physics (MTW), Radiology Physics (EKHUFT) and Nuclear Medicine Physics (MTW and EKHUFT) consists of Medical Physicists and Clinical Technologists specialising in radiation safety and medical imaging. The group works closely with a large number of staff groups within the Trust including radiology, oncology and estates. The group covers a wide range of specialties to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and staff who come into contact with sources of ionising radiation (eg x-rays, beta rays etc) and non-ionising radiation (eg ultra violet (UV) radiation and lasers etc). In addition the group has vast expertise in medical imaging (X-ray, Nuclear Medicine, MRI and Ultrasound), and undertakes radioisotope therapy administration and some other non-imaging studies in nuclear medicine. Activities Our activities include: Equipment Checks and Quality Assurance Programmes for: All X-ray Equipment (including dental) Ultrasound Equipment UV Nuclear Medicine Equipment Radiation Monitoring Equipment Calibration Service (eg contamination monitors and dose rate meters) Providing RPA and MPE advice for the Trust and many other clients.
