Nottingham

Hands On Pottery is a small ceramics school based near the centre of Nottingham. The building is light and airy offering Wheelchair access to all three work studios. We have been working with people since 1990 and we encourage everyone to reach their own individual aims and objectives. Confidence is enhanced by our high standards of teaching and working in a comfortable friendly environment. The pottery is all wheel chair friendly with adjustable tables and a loop fitted in the main workshop. As the pottery is all on the ground floor it is easily accessible for all. When working at the pottery you will be encouraged to work individually, on your own chosen designs, which will be finished to a very high standard. The teachers working at the pottery are proud of our reputation, as many students have discovered their creative ability with us through the art of clay. Many students who have never worked with clay before have gained qualifications or found a new creative skill they enjoy. We believe that clay is a wonderful medium to work with and that clay brings out the best in people. The most satisfactory way we can describe our findings is: "It's not what people do to clay, it's what clay does to people" Hands On Pottery offers classes to everybody. We are prepared for you to come to us at the pottery, or for us to come to you in a place of your choice. At Fight for Peace young people make friends, get fit, and develop their interests, skills, and confidence. Our aim is to ensure young people achieve their full potential in life, and we welcome any young person from our communities aged 7-25 years old. We embrace the power of sport for the life lessons it teaches, such as resilience and discipline, as well as improved health and wellbeing. And we combine this with one-to-one mentoring conversations with qualified youth workers, personal development sessions, and education and employability support. Young leaders also shape our services, being part of staff recruitment and strategy development, producing communications, and progressing to employed roles as ‘Next Gen’ staff. We support around 500 young people per year at our Academy in east London and, in order to reach as many young people as possible, we train and work with like minded community partners across the UK and the world - something we call the Fight for Peace Alliance. We also coordinate Collectives in east London and Jamaica to bring together diverse partners from across communities in support of young people. Ali Smith trauma informed coach

ali smith trauma informed coach

Hi, I’m Ali Smith, coach, EMDR therapist, inspirational speaker, corporate trainer. I’m on a mission to educate and empower both individuals and organisations. I use a trauma-informed approach in my one to one sessions and workshops , providing education on tackling workplace wellbeing and stress at work After almost losing my life to a terrorist attack some years ago, I believed that my experience would lead me to my purpose. As an inspirational speaker I share my journey to recovery with the aim of raising awareness on PTSD. After years of experience working in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, I noticed a need for increased focus on employee training initiatives around managing stress at work . Workplace wellbeing has now become a priority in our post-pandemic world I became a best-selling author in 2019 after documenting my journey to recovery after CPTSD. Alongside my 1 to 1 client sessions and speaking engagements, my trauma awareness training for organisations and business coaches has been designed to equip leaders to improve employee collaboration and reduce staff absence I’m comfortable talking about stress and trauma. Trauma is NEVER about the event but always about the internal process as a result of the event Understanding how we can manage our own internal experience helps us to reframe our lives and manage stress at work In a highly traumatised society , I’d like to see everyone willing to engage in these conversations . We need to be talking openly about trauma if we are to move forwards as a collective “Take what was your past and light it as a bonfire to be a beacon of light for others to gravitate to”

I have been teaching yoga and body based therapies for over 10 years. I am insured and registered as a Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals. I mainly works with groups in a class or workshop setting as well as with privates clients from my home studio. My one to one yoga sessions can help you to develop a personal practice that works more deeply than if you were to join a class. I structure it specifically for your personal needs. I get to closely recognise, talk to and understand the anatomy, movement and postural habits and patterns of each individual.  I work relationally, holistically and intuitively to begin the process of unravelling and resetting old pattern with-in the body, especially focusing on the ones that aren’t serving my client well . I always love witnessing the integration process that begins with movement and breath awareness.   My work reaches out to a broad range of people including people suffering with physical ailments such as; physical tension, pain, general wear and tear, injury and mis-alignment, as well as working alongside clients suffering with mental health issues such as anxiety, stress, insomnia, depression, trauma…  My therapeutic approach integrates many tools and resources which help aid the healing process for both the mind (Cognitive) & body (Somatic) in a profound way. Many people carry traumatic experiences in their body which can have a detrimental effect on their quality of life and wellbeing.  Trauma has many characteristics; anxiety, stress, anger, physical pain, insomnia, panic attacks, depression and other physical and mental depilating illnesses.  I teach the art of embodiment and Interoceptive awareness to help create a new map, a new experience for her clients – releasing old patterns that may be getting in the way of them having a “better life”. Think of it as a ‘new life map’!

We believe we can collectively change the music industry for the better – helping to bring about a fairer, more diverse, better educated… musically more exciting future! Higher education should have value for life and we hope your studies at LCCM will be a time of creative and cultural experimentation as well as personal development. We want to help you develop lifelong skills in communication, creative expression, collaboration and cultural understanding as well as furthering your talent, passions and personal ambitions. We believe in the Schopenhauer principle that music is the pinnacle of the arts and so at its best can be considered the highest form of human expression. So be true to yourself, whether you are an artist, entrepreneur or future executive. Be original and inventive. Your ideas and talent, if you work hard, can help bring about this exciting future. To deliver this vision we commit, wherever possible to teach: In small groups with students being supported by one-to-one tutorials With current insight from top industry professionals In a friendly, creative environment With access to industry-standard facilities and resources To the highest of academic standards With students focusing on how to collaborate and communicate effectively With exceptional skills embedded into the curriculum to ensure work-readiness for all sectors after graduation We’ve been doing this since 2002, when our founders, all professional musicians themselves, decided to launch a new college for contemporary popular music in the centre of London. The aim was to create a new approach to teaching music that mixed the best of the good universities and conservatories with an art school environment. The course that emerged embedded production with performance, establishing LCCM as the first music college where all students had to master both performance and production; a development that was increasingly evident in the music industry.
