My love of horticulture grew after starting an allotment 6 years ago at the school where I used to teach. I have always enjoyed nature and wildlife, but wanted to explore the possibilities that learning outdoors could have. After teaching in the classroom for 14 years (at that point) I had no idea of the impact gardening would have on my students. It has been simply magical to watch. I have witnessed first hand the positive impact nurturing a garden can have, and not just on a personal level! Everyone should garden - it is SO good for you! Gardening after a day in work was simply not enough, so three years ago I enrolled on a horticultural course with the Royal Horticultural Society at Ness Gardens, I have taken floral design classes and I'm using my teaching skills to hold workshops so that others can enjoy plants and flowers regardless of whether they have a garden or not. An opportunity arose to hold my own planting workshops at Make in Liverpool and an idea for Emma's Wild Garden grew from there, I finally had a creative outlet for my plant passion and I could share it with others. As well as providing workshops, I have been creating my own terrariums as gifts and then to sell. Gardening doesn't have to involve wearing wellies - although I love my bumblebee pair - it can be done whatever the weather and using beautiful glassware and stylish planters for any room in your home.

Our purpose built premises offer comfortable and relaxed surroundings with a combined waiting area where parents can sit in with their children whilst lessons take place if necessary. Our guitars, instruments and audio equipment is of the highest standard as we firmly believe creating a great sound when playing is an integral part of being inspired to play more. We do however encourage our students to use their own instruments where-ever possible. In addition to our one to one personal guitar and bass lessons we are planning in the near future to offer online courses and tuition. Our subscribers will be able to follow any six string guitar and bass courses structured around the nationally recognised and acclaimed Rockschool curriculum, where students work their way through progressive grades one to eight, or tailor made courses based on an individual’s needs and interests. We will also have separate and specific beginners course to suit all ages and abilities. We (Paul and Mitch) are based in Leeds, but our tuition and lessons cover Leeds, Rothwell, Woodlesford, Castleford, Wakefield and Pontefract areas. At Ruskin Road Repair Cafe, we are committed to working with people to help them develop the skills to repair rather than replace broken or faulty consumer products, and keep them out of landfill. When you bring in an item which does not require professional expertise to safely fix, volunteer fixers will work with you to repair or maintain it, offering as much explanation or support as is necessary so that you can develop the confidence to try and fix the item yourself if it breaks again. Of course you are always welcome to come back again for more help! At a Repair Café there are the tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. On clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, toys, et cetera. And there are also repair specialists such as electricians, seamstresses, carpenters and bicycle mechanics. Visitors bring their broken items from home. Together with the specialists they start making their repairs in the Repair Café. It’s an ongoing learning process. If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Or you can lend a hand with someone else’s repair job. The Repair Café teaches people to see their possessions in a new light. And, once again, to appreciate their value. The Repair Café helps change people’s mindset. This is essential to kindle people’s enthusiasm for a sustainable society. But most of all, the Repair Café just wants to show how much fun repairing things can be, and how easy it often is.

Children's TV and Film School We are a part time TV and film school for children based at Pinewood Studios. We deliver a unique range of screen and film classes in a fun and practical way to 6-16 years. We are passionate about ensuring that children are well trained and we offer our students a huge wealth of opportunities to meet casting directors, directors, top coaches. We offer lessons, close to the new Shinfield Studios in Reading, on Sunday mornings from 10.30am until 12.30pm and close to Pinewood studios in Iver Heath on Tuesday evenings 5pm until 6pm We offer weekly acting lessons exclusively for TV and films. Ideal for beginners, our courses allow children to learn techniques that build their confidence in a fun and unique way. Children perform against green screens on a weekly basis. Every week we focus on a different style and scenario making these classes fun and highly interactive. Children will receive immediate feedback and at the end of each term their work will be showcased in a glamorous red carpet style premiere event for their friends and family. Children who are currently represented in the industry can learn techniques for onscreen acting.
