I have a passion for helping people and will cheer you on as you find the best version of yourself. I am 27 years old and I have lived my whole life in Edinburgh, Scotland. For the last five years I’ve been a qualified Occupational Therapist working in the NHS. I have worked in an array of services from Mental Health, Paediatrics to Over 65’s. I always knew I wanted to do more to help people change their lives through health and fitness. I initially got into fitness in my final years of university, being fed up of the sedentary lifestyle I was leading. I remember not knowing where to start, feeling lost and intimidated by the gym environment. I started workouts from home, improving my fitness and confidence in my living room. I soon decided I wanted to try something different, so I got an online programme to follow, making the return to the gym much easier. It was then I found a love for weight training, and it wasn’t long before I invested in a Personal Trainer myself to teach me correct technique, keep me accountable and support my journey to achieving my goals. At present I have two Labradors, and have owned and trained several Labradors and a German Shepherd (a rescue dog) as well as the family’s Shetland Sheepdogs and Miniature Schnauzers (together with a variety of birds and small furries!). I have been training dogs for over 35 years in a variety of disciplines, including Obedience; Agility; Gun Dog Training; Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme; Obedience Rally; Companion Dog Training - and even for a short film, “Her Dog” (2013), which you can watch online! Qualifications I have an Honours (2:1) degree in Ecology & Ethology, a MSc (Merit pass) in Applied Animal Behaviour & Welfare from the Royal (Dick) Vet School, University of Edinburgh; and a Doctorate (PhD) in Ecological Studies. KCAI logo large-min.JPG I have been helping owners train their pets in both classes and on a 1-2-1 basis for the last 10 years and initially qualified as a dog trainer with a local charity in 2011, before becoming a member of the Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour (KCAI). I am a KC Good Citizen Dog Scheme Approved Examiner (List A) for Bronze, Silver and Gold Award Levels. Drawing upon my formal behavioural, welfare and ecological training I can identify and resolve behavioural problems which cause a lot of distress for both dogs and their owners. I have a particular interest in helping dogs with anxiety or fear-related issues and investigated this for my MSc Dissertation: Investigating Relaxation Protocols designed for Companion Dogs (Canis lupus familiaris): Efficacy, Client Engagement and Perception. I am interested in Dog Cognition and understanding how recent scientific developments can be applied to Pet Dog Training and to help you understand the real reasons behind your dogs behaviours.

I was graduated from Yildiz Technical University, which is one of Turkey’s leading universities, Chemical Engineering Department in 2004. When I was studying at the university, I was tutoring lessons in chemistry, mathematics, physics and science. Later, I worked as a chemistry/science teacher in a private education tutoring school. I completed my master’s degree formation as a chemistry teacher which allowed me to work in all schools in Turkey as a Chemistry/Science Teacher. In addition, I started my master’s degree in chemical engineering. But, with the birth of my daughter, I quit my second master thesis. After working for 8 years as a chemistry/science teacher, I was promoted as the head of the chemistry and the department of science. Two years later, I was promoted to the Deputy Principal of the Secondary School. After working for 3 years as the Deputy Principal of the Secondary School, I worked for 2 years as the Principal of the Secondary and High School director. During my work, except for my business, I participated in many programmes to help and support young people. One of them is the Duke of Edinburgh International Youth Award. I worked as an award leader supervisor and coordinator. Another one is for gifted and talented students, I developed some activities in science and maths with my colleagues. During the period I worked, I realized the importance of personal development and participated in many training programs. After my training in mentoring and coaching, there was a huge change in my attitude on life. It is possible for each student to reach the maximum of his / her potential with proper directions. In this context, I am coaching and mentoring and try my best to guide the students and their parents to make the right choice for the right high school and the right university.

Whilst everyone might not agree wholeheartedly with the saying that ‘schooldays are the best days of your life’, none the less, schooling of some sort is part of our popular heritage. So in 1986 a number of people involved in the world of education and museums got together, and started collecting things; to save them from oblivion. The result of their action is a formidable, possibly unique collection, that incorporates a very eclectic mix of old school ‘stuff’. Most of it is indeed old, robust, and built to last, but some of it is a bit more recent vintage – including a BBC Computer. At this time, it was agreed that the best way to organise the care of this collection and to give some form of public access, was to put it all in the hands of a charitable trust. Since then, we have moved with the times and are now a duly constituted SCIO, a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, but still run by a small band of dedicated trustees aided and abetted by a growing number of volunteers.
