Anaphylaxis is a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction that affects numerous individuals worldwide. In the UK, the incidence rate is estimated at 7-9 per 100,000 persons per year, with an increase noted in recent years. Basic Life Support (BLS) plays an essential role in managing anaphylaxis. As an immediate response system, BLS can help maintain airway, breathing, and circulation - the key aspects threatened by anaphylaxis. By recognising signs early, initiating emergency procedures, and ensuring appropriate medical intervention, BLS can be the difference between life and death. Therefore, comprehensive training in BLS is vital, particularly for those at risk of anaphylaxis or in caretaker roles.
