English in Newcastle grew over 20% each year so we knew we were on to something. In 2013 UK Language Project was born, and we started offering Spanish lessons in Leeds. Amongst other offerings. We essentially wanted to help more and more people. So we started to build a network of tried and tested expert language trainers offering: German courses in London Spanish courses in Manchester French courses in Bristol German courses in Edinburgh To name but a few. The list continued to grow and now we can service over 1000 language / location combinations! If you’re in an English language learner, or have staff who need to improve their English then our English courses in London may be for you or your employees if you are based there. We’d love to help you improve your language skill or pick up a new language with a private tutor. On your terms. One of our passions is to promote language learning. It’s not about rote-learning of grammar tables and repetition of pronunciation until perfect. All of this trash you were no doubt “taught” at school. Welcome to a new approach. The communicative approach. You actually learn a language by speaking it! Who knew? We are passionate about igniting interest in languages and promoting learning. It is a huge pleasure and privilege to welcome you to West Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC). We are a community special school, under the organisation of Leeds City Council. We have 242 learners on roll. The SILC welcomes learners who are aged between 2-19 years with an EHCP which is generic in classification. I am extremely proud to lead a school that caters for a wide range of Special Educational Needs in a truly bespoke and individual manner. Our pupils have varying needs such as CMLN (Complex and Multiple Learning Needs), moderate or severe learning difficulties, social, emotional mental health needs (SEMH) or autism. Everything we do at West SILC is based around the individual and their needs, offering them specific environments at one of our 5 sites is key to being inclusive and individual. Our pupils grow in all aspects of their lives through their time spent with us and leave us as more confident, independent and happy young people ready to access the next stage of their lives. The relationships our staff have with our pupils and their families is at the core of all the work we do, we recognise that the work we do is not solely based in the classroom or at school and it is a lifelong learning journey we are support our young people on. The school has a governing body which supports and challenges the Principal to guide the future direction of the school. West SILC is a regional centre of excellence for the MOVE programme, which supports our learners with physical disabilities to develop functional skills for everyday life – sitting, standing and for some, even walking. We provide outreach to other schools to develop these programmes.

Jo is a fully qualified Physiotherapist and has been working for over 17 years in the profession treating a variety of patients to include Elite athletes, Professional Ballet dancers, amateur sports participants and the general public with complex pain conditions. She completed the training to become a fully certified Modified Pilates teacher in 2003 with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute. Jo lives with her husband, daughter, their son and a springer spaniel in Barnsley and loves keeping herself fit by attending Bootcamp sessions, personal training and running. She is aiming to do her first half marathon soon. In 2006 Jo set up Flex Pilates, originally teaching classes in North Sheffield. Since then the business has expanded to Leeds and Barnsley with people of all ages and abilities enjoying the benefits of this popular exercise. As well as teaching Pilates classes Jo also works with the APPI as an International Lecturer, teaching other Health Professionals the principles of Pilates teaching, enabling them to take the exercise into their practice. This side of her career has seen her travel to America in 2012 to teach 6 courses to rehabilitation professionals. Jo also travels within the UK, lecturing regularly on 3 different Matwork courses developed by the APPI. Having just had her second child, Jo has added Antenatal and Postnatal rehabilitation Pilates classes to the Flex Pilates' repertoire, teaching mums-to-be and new mums alike. After struggling with a muscle separation (Diastasis Recti) with her pregnancy, Jo used Pilates to re-strengthen her own core with great success. Jo is truly passionate about Pilates and loves the way it can help transform an individual's ability to function on a day-to-day basis.

wanting to learn how to create shoes entirely by hand led me to pestering the local clog maker to take me on as his Saturday girl, after a couple of years I got a place at cordwainers college, then part of central and st martins. when I finished my degree, I went straight into an apprenticeship in the west end of london. I was very lucky as apprenticeships were and still are, very few and far between. for 12 years, I worked exclusively for boot and shoe companies, including john lobb, cleverly and jason amesbury, in the west end and mayfair. a chance conversation led to a residency at the royal armories in leeds where I spent two years working with the in-house leather worker to produce 30 pairs of jack boots for the household cavalry. while I was there I began to think about producing a collection of leather goods under my own name. I was encouraged when my first show sold out completely. I have worked hard to build on that success becoming more creative with styling and inventive with detail as the collection has grown. I am currently working on a series of collaborations with an intriguing range of clients: flame oz are an international troupe of fire performers who are looking at ways of incorporating fire resistant leather into their incredible theatre shows. drawn surface have worked on set designs in film and television and are currently producing a range of leather and hand printed canvas homewares with me. I am working with milliner Good Golly Miss Molly to create a range of stunning gents headwear for various celebrities. new projects on the horizon include a range of luxurious aprons and gentlemen's grooming products, and more recently, I have been commissioned to produce body-worn amp covers for a local music project.
