I have always been interested in communication and languages, so I gained my initial degree in teaching Hungarian language and literature both to native speakers and as a foreign language. I have taught in different countries – in Hungary, Serbia and Switzerland – committed to continuous learning and development. However besides language acquisition I am also interested in brain and personality development so I have specialized in UK in Early Years Development. I grew up with my mums much younger sister who was diagnosed with autism, so I always had a loving heart for children and people living with special needs… Whilst studying neuro diversity I discovered that I was a child with all symptoms of ADHD… and at some point I had to realise that it never went away… I still do have it… I have started reading and taking notes about it, and now i can claim with confidence that I know this type of condition inside out… I have worked in nurseries as an Early Years Teacher and later as a nursery Manager. After studying at the Metropolitan University and gaining the Diploma in Teaching Adult Learners I have taught Early Years Childcare to Practitioners as a Tutor/Assessor in wide variety of settings in London. Apart from creating a relaxed and joyful environment where active learning can take place, I am passionate to help and motivate people in every possible way, so I have also studied a variety of Holistic Coaching and Healing methods as well as Event Management. I have participated in the organization of international festivals, several exhibitions, artisan fares, fashion shows and holistic healing days. During the lock down I was approached by many parents who asked me for help with variety of issues. I have decided to organise the Happy Parent = Happy Child Online Conference and have gathered over 30 professionals to support families, children and parents.

Oxford BSAC Scuba Diving Club is the award-winning Oxford Branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC). The branch was founded in 1956 – a few years after the BSAC itself, making it one of the oldest diving clubs formed in the UK. As you might imagine we have a rich history and some very experienced members. Our club is run entirely by volunteers. We train people to dive and snorkel but we also welcome qualified divers to join us (whoever they trained with). We organise regular diving trips to Dorset and inland sites. We run several trips a year to longer-range destinations – in the recent past, these have included the Red Sea, Gozo (Malta), Scapa Flow, Sound of Mull, Plymouth and the Isles of Scilly. We also have close relationships with other local BSAC branches including the Oxford University Underwater Exploration Group (OUUEG) with whom we often collaborate. The activities of the branch centre around three areas, the clubhouse, pool training and diving. We also carry a decent level of equipment and have a great hard boat moored in Weymouth – all of which help to make us a successful dive club which has been going for over 60 years. We are a mature club with a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere. The branch has around 70 members from the Oxford area stretching from Bicester in the North to Didcot in the South and from Witney in the West to Aylesbury in the East. We even have some members who live here during the week and go home on weekends. We cover a good cross-section of Oxford society. Ages range from young children who snorkel to senior citizens that dive or who are social members. We are always happy to welcome new members, be they untrained novices, experienced divers or instructors – no matter who they have trained with. Cybersalon is the trading name of Digital Liberties Limited for its UK-based collective and think-tank activities focusing on the process and effect of the digital revolution in industry, society and its emerging digital cultures. Its members and audiences include entrepreneurs, technologists, hackers, activists, government officials, business and community leaders, academics, artists, creatives, and designers. Originally founded in 1997, from 1999 to 2003 Cybersalon ran monthly events at the Institute of Contemporary Art. From 2003 to 2006 Cybersalon was housed at the Dana Centre at the British Science Museum. Cybersalon re-launched in 2013 at the Arts Catalyst in London, and was based at the DigitasLBi agency in Brick Lane, Shoreditch, in the heart of London’s Tech City before moving into its current home at NewSpeak House, Shoreditch. The size of the contributing, senior membership of Cybersalon varies year to year from a core team of a dozen to a management and logistics group of more than twenty. Cybersalon audience membership numbers in the hundreds. In addition to monthly meetings, Cybersalon curates real and virtual spaces for people involved in digital creativity to participate and feedback their knowledge, curiosity, and concern to the wider community through the running of workshops, presentations and special projects in research and education. The recent HyperHabitat series of events, projects, and presentations investigated the changing nature of our living environments. Besides other activities, the series included Cybersalon events, participation in the London Hackney Council’s “Hack-ney-thon: 24 Hours to Hack for Hackney”, and a study of data gathering for the retail industry which in turn led to presentations and workshops at the Hybrid Cities conference in Athens, Greece. In recent years Cybersalon has additionally contributed a Digital Citizenship Bill of Rights for debate in the British Parliament, presented member book launches on workplace surveillance and the results of research into the political use of social media.

We play an important role within the profession of counselling in the UK and in May 2013 the Society was one of the first organisations to gain Accredited Register status with the Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register programme. Our belief is that counselling (and related therapies) should be seen as a vocation (not just a job but a worthy occupation) and that the relationship between counsellor and client is important for the outcome of therapy. We support and promote counselling and counsellors, offering a wide variety of benefits to our members and training providers. We have also created and published online CPD courses to support healthcare providers and those in public-facing roles. As an Accredited Register holder we meet the robust and exacting standards set by the Professional Standards Authority with particular emphasis on public safety and assuring that the best interests of the clients are protected. We’re also very pleased that, again as a result of our efforts, Health Education England has amended the information on the NHS Health Careers website also to be in line with the aforementioned changes on NHS Choices and NHS employers sites, and promote inclusive hiring practices We are a not for profit organisation and the high standards of our Accredited Register are externally verified by the Professional Standards Authority. The organisation is bound by appropriate rules of governance including a constitution, codes of ethics, and a complaints procedure.

Why EY Matters? My love affair with the Early Years sector began back in 2011 when I started working with Laura Henry, and through my work with her I started to connect with other Early Years Professionals. During 2013, I supported Laura with her vision of creating an organisation for the Trainers and Consultants of the sector, by organising the first meetings, the first survey and collating the results. Out of this vision NEyTCO was born. Launched in 2014 at the House of Commons, NEYTCO - National Early Years Trainers and Consultants - brought together experts in the sector to offer mutual support for trainers and consultants and a one-stop-shop for early years settings, local authorities, schools and others. In 2017, at the invitation of the CEO, Catriona Nason, I started working closely with NEyTCO, looking at the member experience, finding ways to improve the membership offering and also promoting the members and the organisation, but sadly in the current climate, NEyTCO was unable to survive and closed in October 2018. After receiving the devastating news that NEyTCO was unable to continue trading, I thought long and hard about what this would mean for the sector and then came up with the idea that the new Twitter Chat (#EYMatters) I had introduced a few weeks earlier in September could perhaps be utilised in some way to support Early Years Professionals to continue connecting, communicating and collaborating. With this in mind, I formed a new company EY Matters Ltd with the sole purpose of providing the platform to support the sense of community that has been building over the past few months between the NEyTCO Members and other individuals, companies and areas within the sector. I should stress, this is a separate venture from my main business, Virtual Support UK Ltd, where I still provide support and administration services to the sector on a Pay-per-Minute basis!

David's story The Fat Fish team has developed over 100 mobile apps in the last ten years, including the Tiny Sports franchise, which has had over four million downloads. How did you get started in the gaming industry? Initially via my degree and coming up with website ideas to try and make money. Just before we graduated in 2004, two classmates and I decided we wanted to set up a software business, Bright AI. We had some ideas for products and reached out to our network to find people that were looking to outsource software development projects. We won our first project a month later. Bright AI started mobile application development in 2005, producing branded football content such as wallpapers, games and animations. We developed and published the smash hit utility app My Secret Folder in 2011, generating over £1million in revenue and reaching the top five paid charts in the UK and US. This allowed us to develop more of our own intellectual property. We set up mobile development studio Fat Fish Digital in 2013, of which I am founder and managing director. What's been the biggest challenge in your career so far and how did you overcome it? There have been two big challenges in my career to date: 1. Picking up the business skills required, such as planning, cash flow and managing staff. The technical skills we picked up on our degree were second to none, but we had to learn everything else from scratch. 2. Moving away from production to management. My experience and passion lay in working on projects, so being able to delegate to others and focus on the business strategy and management was difficult. What's the most surprising thing you've encountered in your industry? Probably the biggest learning curve was learning how to run a business. In the early days of the app store it was very much like the Wild West, with people trying different tactics to get an upper hand. I would say we saw some surprising things there!

Caroline Waldegrave is the founding Principal, former Managing Director and co-owner of Leiths School of Food and Wine, one of the most prestigious and respected cookery schools in the country. After 33 years’ involvement, Caroline retired and became a non-executive director on the board of Leith’s in 2009. She was also Chairman of the Guild of Food Writers for several years, and a former member of the Health Education Authority. Caroline was awarded an OBE in 2000 for services to the UK catering industry. Her passion and enthusiasm for teaching and love of food have continued to be the fundamental drivers of Caroline’s work. Since stepping back from day-to-day involvement in Leith’s School, Caroline has focused on imparting her wealth of cookery knowledge at Dudwell School, on the site of the beautiful Waldegrave family home, Dudwell Field Farm. In addition, she owns the Barley Mow pub in London's Marylebone with three of her four children, as well as being a director of the family organic dairy farm. Caroline is also in demand for media appearances, and has been seen on various TV and radio programmes, including Chef School, Masterchef and Tricks of the Trade. In what spare time she does have, Caroline enjoys playing bridge and tennis, and attending the theatre. Publishing Caroline is the author or co-author of a range of cookery books. These include the Leith’s Cookery Bible, Cookery Course and Cookery School books (co-written with Prue Leith), Leith’s Easy Dinner Parties (co-written with Puff Fairclough and Janey Orr), Leith’s Fish Bible (co-written with CJ Jackson), The Healthy Gourmet, and the Low Fat Gourmet. Many of the recipes you will cook on the Dudwell courses will be taken from the Leith’s Bible, but you will also benefit from a copy of the Dudwell cookery book which you will take home at the end of the course, or which is available to buy separately here.
