Better Business Academy

better business academy

Helping you realise your potential for a better business and a better life. My mission is to inspire growth focused business owners and managers to realise more of their potential and develop the skills to do the same for others. I provide proven tools, training and support that teaches and enables business owners to think more strategically and create the time working ‘on’ the business more often instead of feeling stuck ‘in’ it. I started in business from a young age and have owned 14 businesses across 11 different industry sectors and including a business I grew from a single garage to an award winning nation-wide business consisting of 19 franchisees inside 4 years. Another, I grew from just an idea to attracting a number of investors and selling its world-first technology product into 55 countries. Others were in financial services, publishing, IT, distribution, an ISP and more. My wealth of ‘real world’ experience along with a corporate management background in banking, financial services, media and food distribution give me a unique advantage when it comes to understanding the challenges facing business owners in today’s competitive world. Since 2003 I have worked closely with more than 200 progressive business owners, held 7000+ face-to-face strategic coaching/mentoring sessions and led hundreds of workshops for business owners, managers and teams. I am one of NZ’s most experienced strategic business coaches and NZ’s only business coach trainer. I am a professionally trained Coach, Licensed Facilitator of the Coach Clinic Training (CoachU, USA and Australia) and an experienced NLP Master Practitioner (INLPTA). I’m married with 6 children and 3 grand-children. My personal interests include learning, coaching, high-performance strategies, surfing and time at the beach with family and friends.

Fi Tilbury Jewellery

Worcester

Fi grew up in London and throughout her childhood was always either making things, drawing or painting. She did her foundation course in London and then chose to leave the city and take her degree in Fine art Painting in the beautiful city of Bath. After spending a couple of years, based in a studio group in Bristol, making her own work, she decided to move back to London and shortly thereafter she did a PGCE and began her teaching career. After having her son, and due to work commitments, Fi and her family moved to Worcester and this is where she began honing her skills as a jeweller. She is now a jewellery designer and painter, offering unique, handmade jewellery pieces which are mostly made in silver, incorporating semi precious stones and accents of gold. Jewellery commissions are regularly undertaken and include recycling of old jewellery pieces to make new. Her jewellery is inspired by the style of ancient and archaeological pieces and natural forms and aspire to having a very handmade, and 'just dug up' look. Most of the work has been hand forged but more recently Fi has employed the lost wax casting process and now also runs workshops. Vibrant colour plays a large part in both her painting, prints and jewellery. Having trained in Fine Art, she uses the studio to paint in and undertakes portrait commissions. Having a portrait painted of a loved one can be an excellent way to mark a special birthday or occasion. As with possible jewellery commissions she would be more than happy to discuss requirements and options. There are a selection of workshops which can be booked in her studio, based on jewellery making and painting. Workshops can be a fantastic way to learn a new skill or done as a group can be a wonderful experience.

It is also the record of the client’s progress as they move through their treatment episode. Each level of care has specific criteria for medical necessity. JDS Consulting’s UR and Clinical Services Department provide a wide range of training to ensure that your facilities documentation supports the authorizations being requested. From an overview of medical necessity, to training on specific documents, i.e intake assessments, group notes, utilization review forms, etc, we can pinpoint any areas that may require attention. We pride ourselves on working within the system already in place within each individual facility, tailoring our skills to the identified needs of the clinical team. On site training sessions are available as often as your facility deems necessary. JDS Consulting will work closely with your clinicians at each step of your client’s stay at your facility. Redruth

Enable your baby to swim happily, safely and confidently from an early age. Swim Academy for Babies is a specialist baby swimming school that started in Cornwall more than 10 years ago, and is now available in Somerset. We are proud to be entirely run by mothers, providing a unique experience for families with babies and small children. We run tailored baby swimming classes for babies from newborn to 4 years old, we hope to soon be able to resume offering swimming development courses and junior squads for ages 5 to 10 years old. We create a natural, loving and fun environment where you can enjoy special time with your baby, deepening your special bond whilst learning how to help your baby enjoy the water. We teach babies water awareness and safety, allowing them to explore and discover what their bodies are capable of in a variety of structured situations. All our classes are uniquely planned taking into account the ability of each individual baby and child. The earlier babies are introduced to water the sooner they can be taught vital water safety skills as well as increasing their strength and stamina. We also include fun excercises to help mothers recover their pre-pregnancy body weight. We use internationally proven ‘in water’ and ‘underwater’ techniques to improve babies lung capacityand function as well as boosting babies self-confidence and general heath and fitness levels. Most babies also develop better eating and sleeping patterns, and many parents plan sleep times around swimming classes! Other family members are welcome to bring their baby swimming as soon as baby’s umbilical cord has healed. This may be useful during the first 6 weeks when mother cannot go in the water. Bonding, Nurturing, Caring, relaxing, fun!

Aquatots

Our friendly comprehensive swimming programme is spread across 29 progressive levels suitable for the early introduction of babies, from 10 weeks old in our Level 1, right through to children of approximately 7 or 8 years in our Child Level 29. We not only teach the children how to swim but also, water confidence, water safety and when older, snorkeling, rescue and how to use underwater scooters! And you can choose between many venues with weekday or weekend classes Not only has the Aquatots programme been carefully enhanced and adapted over the 22 years to be the best Baby, Toddler and Child swimming program available, but we also take care to ensure that the babies and children are swimming in a suitable and warm environment. For example our baby classes will always be taught in warm, shallow private pools ensuring the perfect relaxed surroundings for new parents and first time swimmers. Once the children are able to swim independently, we move to bigger pools providing the extra space required, so all swimmers are encouraged to develop their skills to their maximum potentials. We also want and need our parents to join us in the water throughout the programme, even into the later swim levels. This not only keeps this activity as a shared family event ensuring learning continues outside of our lessons, on holiday for example, but also avoids that common issue in many other swim clubs without parents, where children sadly spend lots of wasted time waiting for a Teacher to swim with each one individually. During that time they often start to get bored and lose their enthusiasm. Having a parent in the water ensures that each child has a personal assistant at all time, to enhance and speed up the learning process altogether.

I am a Chartered member of both IOSH and CIEH and on the OSHCR register. I initially set up this business to provide practical and authoritative training in health and safety regulation and enforcement. Everything I include in my training is drawn from my 25+ years experience as a health and safety regulator, lecturer and Practitioner. During this time I have used the full range of enforcement options drawn from complex criminal investigation resulting in service of notices to prosecution of both individuals and large businesses. I worked for HSE for two years and held a full Inspectors Warrant providing advice and support to HSE and local authorities. I have investigated or managed many different incidents resulting in broken bones, multiple injuries and many fatalities. Here are a few: Crushed by barrier Fatal scalding Explodng tandoori oven Slip accident Fatality at a nightclub Child falls 15ft at a nursery Asbestos release 9m Fall from care home window I managed a team of local authority health and safety regulators and acted as mentor for their investigations. This involved providing advice on appropriate action, use of powers under S20 Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, providing advice on investigations and supporting them through to prosecution where appropriate. This has enabled me to develop detailed practical skills in investigation and interview techniques, PACE interviewing (including PEACE), dealing with lawyers and building successful cases for prosecution. I also provide advice to other local authorites assisting them in their investigations, reviewing prosecution files, acting as second interviewing officer and advising on all matters in between. For many years, I acted as the local authority liaison officer providing support to those bereaved following workplace fatalities. I have written guidance on this role which forms the basis of my training in family liaison. I have produced reports for coroners inquests and have presented evidence during inquests.
