Kingston Upon Thames

Kew Learning combines all the advantages of private tutoring with those of learning in a classroom environment. Many children struggle in large classes at school, as teachers are unable to meet the individual needs of 30+ students at any given time: some children are left to struggle through work they do not fully understand, while others may be bored and unstimulated by work they find too easy. At Kew Learning, by working with small groups, we can provide tailored, sensitive support and teaching according to the needs of your child, while also maintaining the focused, collaborative environment of a school classroom. Our lessons cover multiple fields, from curricular subjects like English and Maths from primary to secondary level, to extra-curricular activities such as Mandarin Chinese, Junior Computer Programming, Speech & Drama, Chess, Painting and tuition in Musical Instruments. Our courses are specially designed for different age groups, so you can rest assured that your child will receive the best support for their educational needs, as well as learning in a fun, stimulating environment. Inspiring Tutors At Kew Learning, the quality of our tutors is at the heart of what we do. All of our tutors are hand-picked for their experience and expertise in their given fields, so you can expect only the best teaching for your child. We look for tutors who have a genuine passion for their subjects, which they can instil and inspire in their students. All of our tutors are DBS checked and undergo a rigorous application process to ensure that they are driven, academically accomplished and, most importantly of all, inspiring teachers. Moreover, we ensure that our tutors are equipped with the best teaching resources, lesson plans and materials to ensure that your child learns according to a constructive and progressive scheme of work. This also allows us to assess and respond to each child’s individual needs and to gain a thorough understanding of how they learn, while providing parents with periodical academic reports so you can stay up to speed with your child’s progress. Exciting Learning Environment Children learn best when they are engaged, focussed and comfortable. Our Twickenham centre is a lively, friendly and well-equipped teaching environment, but most importantly it is a safe place where children can feel at home and develop a passion for learning. We’re confident that the moment you step into the centre, you’ll want to sign up for our classes, come see for yourself! A Culture Of Encouragement At Kew Learning we celebrate every child. Too often, schooling can focus on test results, league tables and assessment criteria. We recognise, however, that the best teaching is achieved by developing the confidence of the individual and ensuring that, for them, every learning experience is a positive experience. Certificates, stickers, reward boards and our prize cabinet are just some of the ways that we celebrate our students’ efforts and achievements. Furthermore, a great deal of research shows that rewarding children for persistence and thinking intuitively has a positive effect on their academic attainment. As such our reward system focusses not only on results, but also on the quality of thinking and the process of reaching those results. Frequent & Open Communication You know your child better than anyone. That’s why it’s important that you are involved every step of the way. Tutor’s written feedback after every session ensures you are always kept up to date with your child’s progress. What’s more, our monthly reports give you a thorough and comprehensive insight into your child’s work, areas where they may be struggling and their progress through the curriculum. We’re always available to discuss progress and answer questions, keeping you up to date curricular developments and offering parent information evenings on a whole range of topics.

I am delighted to welcome you to Central Academy, which is part of United Learning Trust. The United Learning motto is ‘The Best in Everyone’, and we wholeheartedly subscribe to this philosophy. Here at Central Academy, we are committed to providing an outstanding learning experience through our broad and balanced curriculum. Our curriculum is far more than just a range of subjects, in its broadest sense it provides a full rounded education for all students, with excellent enrichment opportunities that broaden horizons and create lifelong memories for our students. “The curriculum supports pupils’ personal and academic development” Ofsted 2017 In recent years we have been really impressed with how our students have performed. Most recently in Summer 2021 with our students receiving some excellent GCSE and A-level results and a large number of Russel Group offers for our Year 13’s going to university. Education is much broader than what happens in the classroom, and we celebrate this as a school through our “Education with Character” program. This program focuses on education beyond the classroom, from extra-curricular opportunities to working with the Manchester United and Carlisle United Foundation. Our Education with Character program is underpinned by our core values; Respect, Ambition, Determination, Confidence, Creativity and Enthusiasm. We have something for anyone and everyone here at Central to ensure all students can succeed in the future. We are a caring and inclusive school community who want the best for all our young people. I am excited to have such a strong body of staff here at Central Academy and really proud of the pastoral support we provide for our students. “Pupils’ personal development and welfare are good. They are well cared for.” Ofsted 2017 We pride ourselves on high expectations for all students with our main focus being on learning. Therefore, all students at Central have the right to disruption free learning. As a school we pride ourselves on this simple expectation, therefore the behaviour system is simple, easy to apply and allows staff to focus on teaching excellent lessons. Here at Central we look to strive for excellence in everything we do, never settling for just ‘good enough’. As Principal, my standard is simple “the experience we provide our students’ must be equal to the experience expected for our own children”, if this isn’t the case we must adapt and develop a better experience for our students. As a parent, I understand the importance of the choice of your child’s secondary school. At Central we provide a unique transition experience from personalised tours of our school to the transition summer school for all of our new Year 7 students. Nothing is too much to ask, therefore if you have any questions, please email the school at info@rrca.org.uk. As Principal, I operate an open-door policy and welcome anyone to contact me directly with any concerns and I will always work with my staff to find positive solutions. I hope you find the information on our website useful and would like to welcome you to our great school. Dan Markham Principal

Halifax

Making music is inherently human: it connects us, has the ability to improve our lives and brings people together. It also helps people to grow in self-esteem, build essential skills and lead bright futures. It’s the reason we exist: to help the young people, schools and communities of Calderdale to have access to – and benefit from – life-enhancing music and arts opportunities. Calderdale Music Trust was established in May 2015 having previously been part of the local authority when it was known as Calderdale Music Service. In 2019, we took an important step forward in our transformational journey. We made changes to our structure and the way we operate, including the appointment of a new leadership team who share a passion and vision for making a positive difference in the communities we serve. Marking a new chapter, we have invested in our stunning new flagship HQ in Halifax, that will make it easier to bring people together, providing a community base for live performances, private lessons, a place to gather, and much more. We also listened to feedback from our schools, parents and our team resulting in our new name and brand identity: Calderdale Music. There’s no final destination; we see this as an ongoing journey to keep doing better and providing better services, which we’ll do by listening to the needs of our learners, their guardians, schools and hub partners. Our ambition is to create an inclusive, forward-looking service that puts people and their unique musical learning adventures at the heart of everything we do. We currently work with thousands of children, young people and adults, and this figure continues to rise year on year. We take pride in our professional development (CPD) offering to schools and our flexible, bespoke approach to teaching, working around the curriculum to make music a fun and pleasurable experience for young people. Our music leaders are among the best in the sector. We offer much more than just music education, we provide support, performance opportunities and a community for learners from all backgrounds to come together socially and share a passion – or just try out something different. Although steeped in musical history, and without doubt some of the finest brass bands in the world, we believe Calderdale can do more to reflect and celebrate its musical and cultural diversity. So as the lead organisation for Calderdale Music Hub, we’re working with local schools, cultural organisations and community groups to bring exciting opportunities and live performances to the doorsteps of Calderdale. We’re here to shine a spotlight on the amazing talent, diversity and prospects our region has to offer. Our vision for the future is to open life-long music and arts education opportunities to all, providing a cultural heart for Calderdale that unites, motivates and inspires people to live more creative lives.
