The Adab Trust was set up in 2007 to facilitate improved employment outcomes for students from challenging backgrounds. Since inception, the Trust has worked with six universities and supported over 7,000 undergraduates and recent graduates. Our inaugural programme was the 'Leadership by Example Programme'. This involved high calibre graduates from ethnic minority backgrounds - particularly from modern universities – being put through a six stage employer-led training and selection programme. The selection programme was delivered by one of UK's leading executive search agencies - Odgers & Berndtson – alongside the market leader in psychometric testing - SHL group. Successful candidates were then marketed to employers and in our first year of operation, 45 candidates secured graduate level roles. From delivering our inaugural programme, we discovered that the principal barrier to most graduates being able to secure their desired jobs; was that they often lacked the soft skills employers sought. To address this, we developed our current programme - the very successful 'Employers in Higher Education (EHE) Programme'. The Employers in Higher Education (EHE) Programme: This programme aims to create a strong connection between education and employers. This is done by bringing employers onto campuses to deliver a range of creative and innovative training sessions to young people. Juniper Green Tots is a small, family orientated nursery based in Juniper Green, Edinburgh. We offer full and part time places for children aged between 6 months and 5 years. We are governed by the Care Commission, and our staff have been specifically chosen for their commitment to providing quality care for each individual child in our setting. Micklems Farm is a unique venue. A 17th century grade 2 listed property surrounded by characterful farm buildings set in mature gardens and overlooking open countryside - a wonderful environment to inspire creativity. Workshops have been running here for 5 years and we are constantly adding new subjects to the curriculum. Despite its rural setting, Micklems Farm is easy to get to, situated between Maidenhead and Reading, with access to both the M4 and M40 only minutes away. We have plenty of onsite parking right by the studios. Our team of experienced, enthusiastic tutors will make you feel welcome and guide you through each stage of the workshop. Most workshops are designed for beginners and where more experience is required, the workshops are indicated for intermediate or advanced students when booking - so you will never feel out of your comfort zone! Our main aim is to encourage creativity, promote confidence and provide students with a relaxed environment in which to meet like minded people and enjoy themselves! Our teaching studio is light filled and spacious, allowing students to be seated at least 1.5m apart. In addition to running our own workshops, the studio is available for teaching artists to hire for their own workshops. We provide a selection of complimentary tea, freshly made coffee, biscuits and delicious cakes throughout the day. In the spring and summer students can sit outside to enjoy the garden and socialise with other students.

During the pandemic when indoor trips were a big NO NO we decided to make our own trip facilities onsite, by re vamping our corridor that housed bags and coats into our own Nature reserve and Forest Cafe. Remembrance Day On Armistice Day we decided to focus on one person from WW2. Ena Collymore-Woodstock OBE is believed to be the oldest surviving female veteran of the British Army at 103. We had many discussions with the children about Ena and the meaning behind the poppy. It was fantastic to hear the children could recall the information.

It’s time to look again at Let the Right One In, the Swedish film from 2008 that perhaps has something to say about 2022. It offers a distinctive take on Bram Stoker’s Dracula story which itself appeared in 1897 at a time of migrations from Eastern Europe. Dracula has proved to be a popular story in both theatre and cinema with many adaptations. 2022 is the centenary of Nosferatu, perhaps the most celebrated film adaptation. The novel Låt den rätte komma in by John Ajvide Lindqvist was published in 2004. The story is set in the early 1980s with heightened tension caused by Russian submarines tracked in Swedish waters. It is a fantasy story but Lindqvist made use of some of his own experiences as a young teenager in developing the narrative. The film adaptation in 2008, directed by Tomas Alfredson, presents an almost social realist Stockholm suburb with a new resident, a girl of 12 named Eli, moving in next door to Oskar, an introverted boy of the same age. The 2008 film became an international hit, celebrated by popular audiences and critics alike and generating a Hollywood remake (not so successful) and several stage adaptations. Tagged a ‘romantic horror’, the film raises questions about ethnicity, gender and migration. There will be plenty to discuss. Let the Right One In is available on BBC iPlayer for the next two months. Cut Editions is a silk-screen printmaking studio specialising in the production of limited edition original artist prints. Established in 2017 by Ni and Ben Gooding, the print studio is based in The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth, Suffolk. Originally a Victorian Maltings, the building is now home to a theatre, gallery, arts cinema and cafe and has a prestigious cultural programme. Situated on the ground floor, Cut Editions aims to collaborate with artists and designers who wish to make original prints. Artists do not have to have any previous knowledge or experience of the screen printing process. We are here to guide you through every stage. We will give as much or as little help and advice as required. We are able to make editions for artists or artists are welcome to book time in the studio in order to produce work for themselves under our technical supervision. Cut Editions offers screen printing courses and workshops aimed at beginners and the more experienced print-maker. Classes are small and designed to be enjoyable and affordable. Ben Gooding is an artist based in London. He has a 1st class Honours Degree in Fine Art (Printmaking) from the Cambridge School of Art and an MA in Fine Art from Central St. Martin's College of Art and Design. He has since been living and working in London. Alongside his own practice, he teaches printmaking at Camberwell College of Art and is a contributor to Saturation Point Projects.
