As a non-maintained special school, West Kirby School and College (Run by the charity West Kirby Residential School) caters for children and young people, aged 5-19 years, with complex special educational needs and disabilities. We support pupils with social and communication difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Condition, sensory and emotional needs, across a range of cognitive abilities. Our aim is for our young people to leave West Kirby School with academic qualifications and developed social, emotional and communication skills. We achieve this through structured, supportive learning and an individualised curriculum, based on the concept of relevant and meaningful learning, where pupils make aspirational progress from their starting points. Due to its location, West Kirby School and College can offer a wide range of opportunities for community activities including the local park and beach, sports, water recreation and natural history. Liverpool and Chester with their wealth of art, culture and history are within easy reach. The school is close to the centre of West Kirby village and is just two hundred yards from the nearest beach and local marine lake.

SPAEDA, Somerset Partnership Art Education Agency, has a unique role in helping children and young people connect to the world around them, encouraging them to take a positive role in their communities and to be curious and adventurous. We believe that putting the arts and creativity at the heart of education supports the wellbeing of staff and pupils and provides space for rich learning experiences. We act to maximise children and young people's engagement with arts and culture, reducing barriers to participation and building confidence and skills in arts leaders. Spaeda takes pride in its highly knowledgeable and skilled team of staff and trustees. We work closely with our board of trustees, artists and associates to increase access for children and young people to arts and culture.

As a fulltime potter for many years, it had always been a dream of mine to open a teaching studio. My vision was to be able to have a studio that would be accessible and available to all potters, no matter what their level of interest. Finally, together with my husband David and the support of our family, we opened our doors in July 2019. We found the perfect building and set to work, figuring out as we went along how everything would be laid out. David is the quintessential do-it-yourself Kiwi, and he set about figuring out what we needed, and how to build it. Lots of late nights, our children helping us paint the floors, our friends bringing over meals, we opened and released our first set of classes. They all sold! We started with one wheel throwing classroom, a hand building classroom, and a dedicated Members area, so that our students could join up as members and practise their new skills, much like a pottery gym. Our members area built up over time despite the lockdowns.

In terms of Martial Arts we have a whole host of World, European and British champions and we have a host of wealth of knowledge in terms of the skills our coaching team have amassed. These include Karate, Kickboxing, Boxing, Kung Fu, Krav Maga, Eskrima and Jiu Jitsu. Our facilties provide the best places to build strength, fitness, Martial Arts skill and to build the best version of you!
