Nottingham

I am delighted to introduce you to the Nottingham Girls’ Academy website. At Nottingham Girls’ Academy, we strive to fulfil everyone’s learning potential within a kind, nurturing and inclusive environment. We value high standards, hard work and a ceaseless desire to improve. But, most importantly, we enjoy the journey together. Research shows that a single sex environment empowers girls to realise their potential. We foster a caring, supportive and happy environment which encourages our girls to flourish. In terms of behaviour, uniform and Academy standards we are very traditional and have high expectations. We expect pupils to wear the full Academy uniform correctly, attend well, behave respectfully to others and to work hard. We also believe that education is more than just academic success and aim to develop the whole person. Our curriculum nurtures the development of qualities and skills alongside the acquisition of knowledge. It is broad and balanced, develops ‘cultural capital’ with enrichment activities and is complimented by a wide range of extra-curricular activities and events, which we encourage all girls to take part in. I regard being the Principal of Nottingham Girls’ Academy as a personal and professional privilege and, along with my staff, I am committed to ensuring the future for our students is bright and full of promise. I hope you find our website interesting and informative. If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact us or arrange a visit. Sarah's Swim School

sarah's swim school

Nottingham

About Sarah's Swim Academy Safety, fun and fitness - these are the key values we at Sarah’s Swim Academy advocate. In the South African context, water is everywhere. For a child who cannot swim, this can lead to disaster. It becomes particularly dangerous if the adults around a child cannot swim either. An instance where a child who innocently stumbles into a bucket of water, falls from a boat, leans over too far while looking at fish in a fish pond, falls or is pushed by another child into a pool could turn deadly if that child can't swim. From our watertoddlers to our adults, the safety of all our swimmers is our first priority. Swimming is an extremely important life saving skill that you should not neglect. Our philosophy is simple To passionately deliver the highest quality swimming experience to toddlers, children and adults while staying safe, having fun and keeping fit. Our classes are built around safety in the water. Our focus is to teach swimming from toddler to adulthood in a safe environment for all swimmers. We encourage parents to get involved in teaching their toddlers basic safety skills in the water and we assist parents to develop their toddlers’ natural swimming ability. As with any activity, an element of fun must always be present. Fun motivates us to continue to learn and hang in there when things become a little more challenging. We achieve this through play, which creates a fun and exciting environment for all levels of swimmers.

Ruskin Road Repair Cafe

ruskin road repair cafe

Carshalton

At Ruskin Road Repair Cafe, we are committed to working with people to help them develop the skills to repair rather than replace broken or faulty consumer products, and keep them out of landfill. When you bring in an item which does not require professional expertise to safely fix, volunteer fixers will work with you to repair or maintain it, offering as much explanation or support as is necessary so that you can develop the confidence to try and fix the item yourself if it breaks again. Of course you are always welcome to come back again for more help! At a Repair Café there are the tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. On clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, toys, et cetera. And there are also repair specialists such as electricians, seamstresses, carpenters and bicycle mechanics. Visitors bring their broken items from home. Together with the specialists they start making their repairs in the Repair Café. It’s an ongoing learning process. If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Or you can lend a hand with someone else’s repair job. The Repair Café teaches people to see their possessions in a new light. And, once again, to appreciate their value. The Repair Café helps change people’s mindset. This is essential to kindle people’s enthusiasm for a sustainable society. But most of all, the Repair Café just wants to show how much fun repairing things can be, and how easy it often is.

West Central London Fixers

west central london fixers

London

West Central London Fixers bring together volunteer repairers and the community to fix their electronics for free. The idea is to nurture repair culture in the community, rather than throwing away electronics – indeed e-waste has become a huge environmental problem. The events are open to volunteer learner repairers so are educational as well. WCL Fixers currently organise monthly free repair events at the Dalgarno Trust and the Space in North Kensington as well as at the Livat shopping centre in Hammersmith. The idea however is to have three branches: WCL Fixers – North Kensington WCL Fixers – Hammersmith WCL Fixers - Westminster - from April 2023 We are supported by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the London Borough of Hammersmith Fulham. We work in partnership with the Restart Project. West Central London Fixers also engages in the private repair and recycling of laptops. Please call or email us for further details - wcl.fixers@gmail.com. We love fixing things at our free electronic repair events. The European School Of Animal Osteopathy

the european school of animal osteopathy

What is Animal Osteopathy One of the definition of animal osteopathy job description, as given by the French Board of Veterinarian Surgeons, is as follows: The sole purpose of these manipulations is to prevent or treat functional disorders within the animal’s body, excluding organic pathologies which require therapeutic, medical, surgical, medicinal or physical intervention. These manipulations are musculoskeletal and myo-fascial, exclusively administered manually and externally. To assist in the management of these functional disorders, people performing animal osteopathy procedures perform non-instrumental, direct and indirect, non-forced manipulations and mobilisations. Animal osteopathy involves finding the cause of the animal’s disorder and discomfort. Each country has its own legislation concerning animal osteopathy: you may for example be called animal manual therapist using osteopathic techniques or you could be required to register (UK) with a vet or osteopaths professional bodies before you can start practicing. It is therefore important that you check the legal requirements in the country you wish to work in. A Day in the Life of an Animal Osteopath We can convey the daily life of a manual therapist based on the 6 essential professional skills of animal osteopathy. On a daily basis, the manual therapist is required to: Travel to meet the animals to be treated (cats, dogs, horses, cattle, exitoc pets). Evaluate the clinical situation, taking into account the animal as a whole. Establish an osteopathic diagnosis. Determine and implement the appropriate osteopathic manipulations. Identify the cases that must be treated, first and foremost, by a veterinarian. Manage a practice or your self-employed activity.
