I work with natural elements to record places and periods of time, mainly using plants and their naturally occurring dyes. After a rural upbringing I moved to London in 2000 and have lived and worked here since. I graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College in 2003 and recently completed the Artist Teacher Scheme at Oxford Brookes University with distinction. I am currently working as a freelance artist and teacher having previously taught art and photography in mainstream education for over a decade, becoming a head of department before deciding to concentrate on my own artistic practice after giving birth to my son. I continue my love of teaching by delivering workshops and courses. My current practice explores the change and growth of plants in my garden and other places which have significance to me. I work with time-based processes and alternative printmaking techniques, using pigments in plant dyes and rust, to record periods in time or the status of plants at a particular moment. I am interested in the unpredictability of these processes and the effects that they have both on the plants used to create them and the environment they are created in. I am currently investigating how nature can be used to record periods of time by creating work in the environment, documenting the effects of natural elements such as rain. I have work in private and public collections internationally and have exhibited nationally including at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair for the past three years. I completed a residency in 2018 as part of the New: Defence arts project in Essex which culminated in a solo exhibition of the work I created.

Martin has an degree in agriculture from Wye College, University of London. He then taught for 16 years at Writtle College specialising in financial management, agricultural trade, EU policy and business strategy. Martin also established a series of projects to link the College with other EU states to facilitate staff and student exchange, joint course delivery and the delivery of EU funded projects. He has taught short courses in Finland, the Netherlands and Romania. He continues to work closely with the education sector and now gives guest lectures on food markets and policy at the National Centre for Food Manufacturing at the University of Lincoln. Martin co-founded an import business in 1990 which he sold in 1999 and was a partner in the family farm J A Collison and Sons from 1994-2008 which supplies cut flowers to supermarkets. He founded Collison and Associates with Lynn in 2002, having been a consultant since 2000. His clients have included a wide range of commercial, public and third sector bodies and he specializes in developing strategies, projects and programmes to deliver change in rural areas. During 2012-13 Martin worked alongside the team developing the UK Agri-Tech Strategy. Martin is a member of: Greater Lincolnshire Food Board, Greater Lincolnshire Water Management Board, Norfolk Rural Development Strategy delivery group and the CLA’s Agriculture and Land Use Committee. He was Vice Chair of the Fens Adventurers Leader RDPE Group (2010-‘13) and is Chair of the Cambridgeshire Fens Leader group (2015-2020). He leads the Communications and Engagement work of Water Resources East (WRE). As well as his Higher Education, consultancy and business experience Martin was a Principal Examiner for ‘A’ Level applied business for AQA from 2000-’13 following previous work as an examiner for City and Guilds and Edexcel. Having my own business has been a real life challenge but the rewards personally have been exciting and it has enabled me to look at the things in life that really matter. We are a training company offering courses for the Workplace and Healthcare sector Plans for 2023: As regional trainers we’re concerned by the price of fuel and train tickets, strikes and protests, and as such the core team are concerned about making commitments to customers that we can’t keep. Each of the trainers have reduced the distance they are willing to travel and as such the area they are able to cover. At present, we’re only looking to make available about six months. Hopefully this will improve as the outlook improves. Coronavirus Update: The UK Resus Council have confirmed that their ‘Pandemic Protocols’ are not to be considered temporary and we are to treat them as the new norm. This means that a leaner only has to demonstrate effective chest compression to demonstrate competence. The group size is now an increasingly important factor as distancing still needs to be observed on any course. We are minded to cap any course to 12 unless the room size permits otherwise. Primarily based at our own purpose-built venue in North London, we create theatre for all ages and run successful outreach projects, education courses and membership programmes throughout the year. We are also a registered charity and rely heavily on the generous support of individuals, companies, trusts and foundations in order to continue our pioneering work. Performance Entertaining and thought-provoking Performance is at the heart of everything that we do, and brings together all aspects of the company. Our work uses the stage to celebrate diversity and performance as a vehicle to communicate with audiences and tackle topical social issues. We regularly present original and entertaining productions for young children, families and adults. We also create new work, inspired by the people around us, about personal and social issues that affect society today which we then take on tour to theatres, community centres and schools across the UK. Education Because everyone has a right Chickenshed changes lives by bringing young people from all social and economic backgrounds, cultures and abilities together to study creatively alongside each other, many of whom have been marginalised by society and excluded from mainstream educational settings. We welcome over 200 students onto our Level 3, Foundation Degree and BA courses every year. 66% of students would not otherwise have the opportunity to study, yet 95% of these same students achieve a nationally recognised qualification at Chickenshed. Participation Celebrating diversity We believe that every person who joins our company positively changes the way that we work. We work to every individual's strengths, finding the creative environment that will enable them to flourish. We hold weekly workshops for over 900 children and young people - providing them with a safe and rewarding environment where they can gain a new-found confidence and have the chance to regularly perform in major in-house productions. Outreach Targeting those who are difficult to reach Chickenshed has established a network of partners that enables us to effectively target children and young people who would otherwise not be able to access our work. We regularly take our inclusive outreach model on the road, delivering over 15 projects and benefiting over 15,000 young people every year in venues ranging from primary schools and young offender centres, to mainstream and special schools. This will ensure even more children and young people can experience the importance of being included and valued; not segregated or rejected. 50% of children in the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea attend independent schools, yet 42% of children in the Borough are from low income families. Young Creators Vocational training programme Young Creators is a professional development programme which launched in 2013, providing young people with access to training and practical work experience in a variety of theatre skills. The programme provides a platform which teaches young people creative skills and arms them with the necessary tools to further their professional development. I am a therapeutic consultant, trainer, play therapist and supervisor who has worked across a variety of settings for over thirty years. I am able to offer a range of services and strategies to support children, families and the staff who work with them to make positive changes in their lives. I have worked as a therapeutic consultant across seven schools in Manchester, Derbyshire and Tameside since September 2010 providing play therapy, group work, staff training staff and head teacher consultation, parent consultations and parent child sessions. Along side this work I have published several articles and also written three books Understanding and Managing Children’s Behaviour Ages 3-5: A child-centred group work programme published by routledge on 5th April 2016 Understanding and Managing Children’s Behaviour Ages 7-11: A child-centred group work programme published by routledge on 7th May 2013 and Understanding and Managing Children’s Behaviour Ages 5-7: A child-centred group work programme published by routledge on 16th November 2014 I also provide individual supervision for qualified play therapists, art therapists and drama therapists.
