We run a variety of scheduled training courses at our Riverside Business Centre but can arrange on-site training anywhere in the Eastern region. We have the expertise to tailor courses for all types of businesses and private individuals. Angela Pilkington – Managing Director / First Aid Trainer Angela PilkingtonAngela has been involved with first aid since the 1970’s when she trained in First Aid at Work and became a member of the British Red Cross Society. She gained the IHCD (Pearson) BTec Level 3 Ambulance Crew Award and has for more than 3 decades, carried out ambulance work for the Society and also worked for an independent ambulance company – mainly covering motorsports at Snetterton race circuit. She is also experienced in covering other sports events – rugby, football, horse jumping; public fetes, concerts, and NHS patient transfers. For several years during the 80’s Angela was a volunteer manager for the Red Cross Therapeutic Care Service, responsible for a team of volunteers working in hospitals and centres across the region, fitting this in with her other work. For 3 years Angela worked as a school nurse at a large senior school in Norwich, during this time she was invited to become a part-time First Aid and Child Carers Tutor at City College Norwich. During her time there gaining qualifications in management, marketing and a degree in education. Angela then became full-time Commercial Training Manager for Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex Red Cross. As well as organising a big team of Trainers part of her role was acting as an NVQ Internal Verifier and training Trainers. Along her varied career path she has built up a wealth of knowledge and expertise which reflects in the training courses and level of event cover P & K Training Services can offer. Landmarks started to offer day services and post-16 education in March 1995, where the curriculum was largely practical and land-based, working in farm buildings in Creswell, Derbyshire. Since that time Landmarks has grown and developed its educational offer so that by the time of writing this welcome, Landmarks supports over 150 post-16 and day service Learners, all of whom learn a variety of essential life skills from our five sites located across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. We have changed our curriculum from purely land and animal-based to include several vocational subjects such as; hospitality, catering, cookery, retail, administration and labouring. These additional subjects support our learners to make informed choices about the type of vocations they would like to follow. College life at Landmarks involves being taught in practical, real-life situations, whilst being supported by highly trained and experienced staff who are experts in working with learners with additional needs. It is important for me, as it is for my team, that whilst learners are with us, they focus on developing knowledge, skills and behaviour that makes a real difference to their lives. I hope from reading the case studies and outcomes featured within this website, you can see what difference that focus has made to our learners’ lives. I am extremely proud of all our learners’ achievements, either becoming more independent so that they can attend activities they enjoy or securing employment for the first time in their lives. Indeed, we are so keen to support our learners that when you leave Landmarks, should you need support to maintain employment or seek advice you can contact our dedicated ‘After College, Aftercare’ team. Montrose Tennis Club is delighted by the faith shown by announcing a £23400 grant award from sportscotland – the national agency for sport. This investment, which is a 50 % grant of the money required to create two mini red courts, will complement the original six LTA standard courts already with upgraded surfaces and all floodlit. The grant ensures that the five year development plan to create a tennis centre of excellence is very much on track. The further money required has been fundraised by club members and the club’s sinking fund, as well as grants from Montrose Common Good, Aberbothock Skea Trust and Colin Grant Trust and any additional donations from local business would be appreciated too. The court build will commence after the club championships later in August. At the club, there is presently a great demand for tots tennis while the under 10 age groups continue to grow and we will now have an area to develop both their skills and play appropriate tournaments on. This new area will also be ideal for disability groups where they can focus in a smaller area and enjoy learning new eye to ball skills as well as holding tournaments. There is a definite spin-off from high profile tennis influenced by Andy Murray. Welcoming the funding Montrose Tennis Club’s secretary, Rhona Alston said “This development will continue to help Montrose Tennis Club, widen accessibility to the sport of tennis within the community and increase membership to the club. Now with the aid of full time coach Graeme Walker and Performance coach Kris Soutar plus invited coaches, there are programmes for all ages, ranging from three-year-olds to programmes for school pupils right up to veterans”. Mrs Alston continued: “Significantly, Montrose is well and truly on the tennis map, with three competing ladies teams, three men’s teams, four mixed doubles teams and the only club in Tayside to be playing out four junior teams as well as competing in junior Aegon fixtures all over Tayside and Aberdeenshire”. Last year was the first time the club were able to hold an official LTA tournament, reinstating the famous old “North Angus Tournament” now sponsored by Doug & Sandra Cree from D C Lighting Services Ltd, and it is on again this year 26th, 27th and 28th June. Entries are now open on LTA Tennis Scotland website and we are hopeful of attracting even more entries.

We are an independent motorcycle training organisation affiliated to IAM RoadSmart. We are also an active, friendly and welcoming riders’ club. ABOUT BRISTOL ADVANCED MOTORCYCLISTS Official provider of IAM RoadSmart training in Bristol. Although we are affiliated to the IAM RoadSmart organisation, and an official provider of the RoadSmart programme, Bristol Advanced Motorcyclists is a separate organisation, with charitable status. And whilst one of our primary purposes as an organisation is to provide a coordinated training programme to motorcyclists in Bristol and the west country region, the club is also an active social hub for riders. Participation in the club’s activities isn’t mandatory, but it’s a great way to meet other like-minded riders and to continue developing your skills. Once you’ve gained sufficient experience you may even wish to progress to becoming an IAM RoadSmart Observer yourself, and of course we can guide you towards that achievement too. In addition to the monthly Super Sunday events we also arrange group ride-outs, more extended trips both in the UK and Europe, talks and other social activities. Bristol blood bikes There is a close association between BAM and Freewheelers, the charitable organisation that operates the Bristol and south west region Emergency Voluntary Service (commonly known as the ‘Blood Bikes’). All of their volunteer riders must be qualified to Advanced standard and many of these have been trained by the BAM group. You can learn more about Freewheelers here: www.freewheelers.org.uk About the IAM The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is a national charity organisation, established in 1956, dedicated to increasing road safety by improving driving standards. Both the organisation and the training programme is now known as IAM RoadSmart. RoadSmart is a national training programme for drivers and riders aimed at developing their observation and control skills. The RoadSmart training programme is delivered at regional level by volunteer groups, such as Bristol Advanced Motorcyclists (BAM), who are a designated ‘Official Provider’. All Observers are accredited by IAM RoadSmart. When you begin your training you become an Associate member. Full membership of the IAM is awarded upon successfully achieving the Advanced standard. Once this standard is achieved there are no further testing stages (unless you opt to train to be an Observer) and you become a full, lifetime member of the IAM, subject to an annual renewal fee (currently £42 per year).

Welcome Wells Park School is a LA funded residential primary school which caters for pupils between 5 and 11 years old, who have an educational statement for social, emotional and mental health difficulties.The children board at Wells Park School from Monday to Friday during term time and are referred to the school by Essex County Council. The site is based in a semi-rural area of Essex, close to the London Borough of Redbridge. Educational The education team at Wells Park School strive to help children who have disengaged from school and learning, to develop strategies to manage their behaviour in a classroom. With small classes of up to ten pupils and a minimum of one teacher and one Higher Level Teaching Assistant in each classroom, the staff at Wells Park are able to introduce and maintain clear classroom boundaries for the pupils. Through providing ability, rather than age, appropriate learning tasks, children at Wells Park can experience success in learning and begin to engage and enjoy learning in school. Residential The pupils arrive at school on a Monday morning and leave on Friday, spending four evenings and nights at the school. Residentially, the children are grouped according to their social needs into four ‘houses’ of up to ten children and three care officers. The ‘houses’ have a family feel to them and mirror the interests and personalities of the children living there. As well as sharing breakfast and dinner with their ‘house’ the children are encouraged to develop their self-help skills and to take on responsibilities appropriate to their age and abilities. The children’s life experiences and social skills are greatly enhanced through the variety of activities provided throughout the week. The aim is to support families and carers to enjoy positive experiences and relationships both with their child and the school. Tokens There is a whole school Token Economy system which allows children to earn tokens every ten minutes in school and fifteen minutes residentially, for times when they are making positive choices with their behaviour, such as listening to the adults, being in the right space with their group and getting on with the set task. Our pupils are very motivated to earn tokens as they can exchange their token slips for evening activities throughout the week and saver trips at the end of each year.
