It brings up many aspects of myself that I had kept hidden for a long time. But, today I’m more open and in a place where I actively work on my body and mind. Health to me is true wealth and this comes from a place of committing to my physical, mental and emotional self. Also, now being a coach and supporting others in their process brings me so much joy because I know how challenging it can be, feeling stuck as though your body, mind and life are working against you. I went through many stages of uncovering the root cause of my health issues and worked through many body, mind and soul practices to heal what was holding me back from living a full life mentally and physically each day. Here’s some insight into my story. Supporting other women As I learned about the power of foods, mind body connection and holistic health techniques, my burning desire to continue learning and to share that knowledge. Enrolling on a Naturopathic healing course in 2018 was one of the best decision of my life. It was liberating to re-learn about the human body as well as ancient practices and healing techniques which have been overwritten by modern day big pharma and food corporations who prioritise profits over people. This empowering experience led me to put myself into self-experimentation mode of trying different foods, protocols, and practices. I managed to re-wire my body and mind, resetting it back to what it was originally designed to do - THRIVE! This has been the most exhilarating experience of my life, bringing me ‘back to me’ and feeling freedom in my mind and body. Now in my late 30's I feel more alive than I ever have. My perspective on life is infectious on those closest to me and I pride myself on how far I have come.

We all go through low points at times in our lives and it is not unusual to experience symptoms related to stress, anxiety and depression. Merton Uplift is an integrated Primary Care Mental Health service accessible to anyone living in the borough of Merton or registered with a Merton GP who are 18 years and over. We support anyone who has a mental health or wellbeing need, whether this is due to emotional difficulties or life stressors. We also offer a service for people with a stable mental health diagnosis such as psychosis and Bipolar Affective disorder. Merton Uplift is a partnership between the NHS and local voluntary sector organisations and launched on the 1st April 2019. With values based on empowerment and building resilience within the community we tailor support to the individual. Wellbeing is core to our service with Wellbeing Navigators working in collaboration with all elements within Merton Uplift. We can support your mental health and wellbeing needs through a number of ways including: Self management courses Psychological therapies Psychiatric assessments Recovery and Wellbeing support Liaison with other Trust services: There will be seamless liaison with, and transfer of service user care to secondary care mental health services run by the Trust from Merton Uplift if clinical risk requires this. This pathway will be managed through daily interface meetings between Merton Uplift and the Merton Assessment Team. Garforth Academy mainly serves the community of Garforth with some pupils travelling further to school from communities such as Micklefield, Kippax, Colton, Whitkirk, Swillington, Aberford and Crossgates. Whilst the majority of pupils live within walking distance we do have a broad intake of primary schools with current year 7 pupils coming from 27 primary schools. The Key Stage 2 APS on entry is broadly in line with national average but some year groups are slightly below national average on entry. The academy is larger than average, and has around 300 pupils per year group in Key Stages Three and Four with a large 6th form in excess of 400 pupils. We serve a diverse community and whilst a large proportion of pupils come from affluent backgrounds, some pupils live in areas containing pockets of deprivation, characterised by high unemployment, an inadequate employment base, low average income levels, poor physical and mental health and a degraded urban environment. It is therefore important that our curriculum meets needs the needs of all learners from a wide range of backgrounds. The proportion of disadvantaged pupils is below the national average (16% v 29%) as is the number currently in receipt of Free School Meals (7% v 12%). Pupils within the academy are mainly White British, with only 2.7% of pupils having EAL. The number of pupils with an EHCP is 1.3%, and a small number of pupils requiring behavioural and emotional support attend The Elland Academy in Leeds, which is a registered Alternative Provision within Delta Academies Trust. We serve our local community and work closely with partners to plan a set of learning experiences that meet the needs of our pupils. In addition, we use local, national and international labour market intelligence to plan courses to best prepare our young people for life beyond school. We have the highest standards and expectations for all pupils and we strive to provide a curriculum that respects the needs of all pupils as well as one that encourages young people to seek continuous development and improvement.

The National Counselling Society is a Not for Profit professional association for counsellors, and we hold an Accredited Register which is recognised by the Professional Standards Authority. The Society offers a wide variety of online continuing professional development (CPD) courses in counselling skills and related topics, designed for counsellors, health and social care professionals, teachers, and others who work in a public-facing role. While the courses themselves are not a route to our Accredited Register, as we are an Accredited Register holder you can rest assured that the high standards we adhere to in the day-to-day running of the Society are reflected in the quality of the courses on offer. The courses that the Society has published will focus on counselling and mental health skills for public-facing practitioners. I am passionate about supporting people who have experienced feeling overwhelmed by societal pressures to conform to a particular body shape and size. I bring a wealth of experience as a therapeutic counsellor, mindfulness and mindful eating practitioner, a non-diet dietitian and a Health At Every Size advocate.  I have experienced the harmful impact of diet culture and weight stigma, from a young age, setting off a chain of unhealthy habits and a strained relationship with my body. Constantly monitoring my food intake and distrusting my body's natural cues was exhausting and became the norm. I developed a deep dislike for my body, always feeling inadequate in the eyes of society and myself.   My personal experience has led me to embark on confronting and rejecting the suffocating influence of diet culture. Practicing mindfulness and self-compassion, I worked on breaking free from diets and to embrace my body in the present moment, appreciating its natural changes. As well as personally, I have also witnessed in my professional capacity the devastating and destructive impact weight stigma and diet culture has on people's emotional wellbeing.   I understand how tuning out the pervasive and overwhelming influence of diet culture can remain a constant struggle, often leaving you feeling alone. Cultivating self-acceptance and self-worth despite a world that tries to define your worthiness based on your size is not easy. I believe that providing the right weight inclusive and compassionate environment is essential for you to negotiate the complexities of body image, learn to heal, and regain trust in yourself and your inner body wisdom. I am committed in providing a caring and empathic approach that supports you in valuing and appreciating the incredible vessel of your body that carries you through life.

Stefano Manca is the Director of the Piano School Cambridge from September 2017, and a member of the Incorporated society of Musicians. He provides one to one private Piano Tuition & Music Theory to children and adults. Included preparation for Concerts, ABRSM & TRINITY Exams and Musical Competitions. SPECIALISED IN TEACHING CHILDREN  He has achieved the “Orff-Schulwerk” qualification in 2010 at Tor Vergata University in Rome. In recent years, this method has become very popular and relevant for helping children in the approach to music education by combining music, drama and speech into lessons that are similar to child's world of play. Thanks to this qualification, he has achieved an excellent capability in relating to children from both an emotional and musical point of view. This makes him an ideal music teacher able to make every child involved and passionate about music.   ARTISTIC CAREER    Born in Bari (Italy) in 1986; he has obtained his Bachelor of Music cum Laude in 2010 and Master of Music in Piano Solo cum Laude and Honourable Mention in 2013, both from the Conservatory of Bari (Italy). He has attended several specialization courses and master-classes in Italy, Austria and England with some of the best Italian and Foreign teachers (among them M. Somma, G. Sannicandro, E. Sarno, F. Altamura, D. Fung, E. Schumann, J. L. Wood, A. Delle Vigne) and he was always selected to perform in the final concerts. He has also attended a harpsichord master-class by M°M. Bisceglie. During the years at the Conservatory he has developed his own vast and technically complex musical repertory. Starting from "The Well-Tempered Clavier" by Bach up to Gershwin's Jazz; rising from the pillars which are Beethoven's music and Liszt music. This repertoire requires considerable technical skills and an extraordinary passion for music. He was invited to perform in piano and chamber music concerts, music lectures, music master-classes, music workshops in ITALY, UK, AUSTRIA, meeting great public acclaim. He regularly performs piano and chamber music recitals around Cambridge; most of them in colleges like Homerton, Trinity, Robinson, Clare, Girton, Newnhouse College. He regularly performs also at the Church of Our Lady and English Martyrs in solo and chamber music concerts.
