Cherished Blossoms, operated by Cynthia Jackson and a team of creative artists and teachers, is currently based in Kumasi, Ghana. A home educator of two active and creative souls who loves playing, drawing and having the opportunity to play computer games (what kid in our current times doesn't appreciate a bit of crazy Minecraft character creation). Our days involve studying and exploring (with the encouragement of self-directed play) and creating experiences, whether artistically or venturing out to exciting places. Sometimes, the word 'I'm bored' pops into the day, and no matter how many things you buy to appease them, it is never enough. Still, that time of 'boredom' is essential for a wind-down or an excellent opportunity to practice mindfulness and recharge and relax to stimulate the mind creatively. I understand much better now that they learn best through creative activities and imaginative play. As an entrepreneur, transformational business and life coach and writer, creating a space and environment for adding value through offering engaging, motivating and stimulating products and services that bridge the gap is a passion and dream. Cherished Blossoms aims to help instil, inspire, and allow children to learn in a fun, nurturing and engaging environment where they will be free and encouraged to think outside the box. Our dedicated team of artists and creatives are keen and willing to transfer their skills, knowledge, experience and love for what they offer their customers so that the kids can incorporate what they are learning from school into real-life experiences. We believe that children need a solid balance and opportunity to learn from academic settings and exposure to real-life experiences. We design our activities to bring out the passion and love for simple things in life that encourage explorations into what they can be or strive to be in life. My name is Andrew Okaro, I’m a therapist and coach who specializes in relationships, inner child therapy and career transformation. I’m passionate about helping others to achieve their goals and to reach their full potential. I’ve been interested in self-development ever since I learnt how to read, and was able to borrow books from my local library. However, my 1st career was working as a Graphics Designer, which lead to further work in world of advertising. In my 20’s I had my dream job, and a flat in central London, all the things I wanted to have growing up as a teenager. However, I struggled with relationships and found myself repeatedly disappointment in matters of love and the heart. At the same time, I became interested in psychology, in particular the works of Carl Jung, and Freud. What fascinated me, was the idea that your childhood experiences and the relationships with your parents, are key factors in shaping your life as an adult. I also became interested in the world of spirituality and was naturally drawn to Toaism and Shamanism. I studied various universal laws such as 'the law of polarity' ‘the law of resonance’ and ‘the law of attraction.’ But not from the superficial view often portrayed in documentaries like ‘The secret’. I was more interested in the workings of the unconscious mind, and how attraction is often influenced by, archetypes, inner parts and shadow aspects of the psyche. I started to see how the relationship with my mother fitted the pattern of my early relationships. But knowledge alone, was not enough to transform this, and I realized that I had to dig deeper in order to experience transformation. After a particularly bad breakup, I became aware of healing power of EFT (emotional freedom technique) and NLP (neuro linguistic programming). While practicing these for some time I became aware of several shifts which manifested as synchronicities in my life. Some of these were subtle, while others were blatantly obvious, like two ex’s contacting me within a space of a couple days.

My Pilates journey started after I was diagnosed with scoliosis (curvature of the spine) as a teenager and underwent several operations to fuse a large part of my spine with rods. I was introduced to Pilates by my Physio and it became part of my early rehab - which then developed into a love for Pilates in my adult life. Pilates, on the mat and using the apparatus, has had a huge impact on my physical and mental wellbeing. To such an extent that it led me to want to help others experience Positive Movement Every Day. I work with my clients, largely on a one to one basis, identifying their needs and developing a personal movement programme whether that be for rehab, athletic training or general well being. We use the suite of Pilates apparatus (reformer, tower, chair) as well as the mat and smaller equipment (eg spine corrector, blocks and balls). If you are hoping that Pilates will help with your pain management, I can provide information on how it has helped me over the years. I have true empathy with all chronic pain sufferers and my goal is, over time, to help you improve your quality of life. I have lived in and around South Woodford for most of my life and love that my job enables me to meet and help other local people. I am a mum to two children, plus our newest addition - a puppy. They all keep me very busy and active, something that would have been a daily struggle without Pilates in my life. MY TRAINING I completed my comprehensive (mat and apparatus) Pilates training with Polestar Pilates. I am a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher and a member of the Pilates Teachers Association. I have my Level 3 in Pre and Post Natal Training, which qualifies me to teach Pilates safely to mums at a time when their bodies and minds are experiencing great change, and I am trained to teach Pilates to children (I have an enhanced DBS). Simon holds an Honour's degree in English Literature from Cardiff University, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Worcester, and a Master of Educational Studies degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia. In 2014, he was the recipient of the prestigious UNSW Dean's Leadership Award, and was honoured to become a fellow of the Project Zero Institute at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is currently in the process of writing a book introducing a new framework for teaching and learning called Curiosity-Based-Learning. Educator - Facilitator - Change Agent Simon has enjoyed many years’ experience in senior educational leadership roles, working in both government and independent sectors in the UK and Australia. His first significant leadership role was as Head of English at Cleeve School in Cheltenham, UK. Following this, Simon spent ten years as Director of Teaching and Learning at Masada College in Sydney Australia, developing close connections with Dr. Ron Ritchhart and the Project Zero team at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In this role, Simon led the transformation of the school into a lighthouse school for Cultures of Thinking pedagogy and practice, and became a key influencer in the cultures of thinking movement in Australia. Simon’s most recent in-school role prior to becoming an independent educational consultant in 2016 was as Regional Principal for an international network of independent schools. In 2017, Simon became a founding member of the Project Zero Sydney Network, and continues his work with this not-for-profit organisation designed to share Harvard Project Zero ideas with the educational community. In 2018, Simon and his family moved from Sydney to Cheltenham in the UK, and he continues to work closely with partner schools in the UK, Australia and around the world. The London Suzuki Group ( LSG ) was founded in 1972 and was the first group in the United Kingdom to teach music by the Suzuki Method. With 60 qualified teachers and over 600 children currently receiving tuition, the LSG runs individual and group classes, orchestral and chamber music courses, workshops and an annual residential summer course at Bryanston School in Dorset. The group offers instruction in violin, viola, cello, piano, flute, recorder and voice. Public and private concerts are regularly organised at venues throughout London and elsewhere, providing much more than the opportunity to learn an instrument. Children and parents form lasting friendships. Parents and teachers are able to share experience and ideas. Music, and the love of music, becomes a natural part of the life of the whole family. Being a former dancer, classical dancer, it informed me as a human being just in terms of the grace I guess. Ballet is a very graceful form of art. You also become very aware of your body and your mind and your body is working in conjunction. That kind of helps you in acting as well. It is not only using your mind, it is like making your own mind communicate this character into your body so that you can bring it to life and physicalize it. Cara began dancing at a very young age taking part in ballet, tap, modern jazz, street dance, lyrical and musical theatre lessons throughout all of her childhood. She went on to study Sport at college alongside doing her teacher training within dance. Cara then went on to study musical theatre and dance at a full time professional college, alongside teaching dance at the weekend. After having to pull out of college with a serious injury she decided being a professional performer wasn’t for her as she LOVED every second of teaching, so focussed all of her time on gaining 10 teaching qualifications within the IDTA. Alongside teaching for nearly half of her life, Cara has also taken part in many amateur dramatic companies performing in musicals, worked for professional dance companies in shows and events and completed many training courses including physical literacy, nutrition, Zumba, exercise to music, and smoking cessation. She has a background of working with families and children in helping them live a healthier lifestyle as part of a Derby County Community Trust program and continues to work with DCCT delivering sessions for different programs they run. 14 years of teaching dance has given Cara lots of experience in working with a wide variety of children, including those with behavioural and learning difficulties. She has worked in many primary and secondary schools across Derby and Nottingham and continues to do so with pride. A fact about Cara: Alongside running The One School of Dance, she is a mummy to two small children (so please be patient with her).
