I had a deep interest in Marketing whilst studying Business and Finance at college. Marketing, and its crucial role in the success of every business, fascinated me: I knew I wanted to run my own business one day. I spent the majority of my early career in IT Marketing and Sales functions for medium size enterprises, where I gained a broad range of skills in both areas. I enjoyed being involved in the creation of various marketing campaigns, from concept through to implementation. In recent years, I finally got the opportunity to start my own venture and I launched a successful Terrarium workshop business. However, it was impacted by the pandemic, which had lead me to create Blue Fern Consult. I am passionate about entrepreneurs, start ups and SME’s; passionate about helping facilitate their business objectives through simple, digital marketing strategies. I enjoy the consultative aspect of my work - delving into the core of businesses, finding out what their story is, deciding how I can help them find their digital voice - and making them standout from the crowd. The most fulfilling part of my work is the tangible benefits I deliver to my customers and their businesses, in a reasonably short space of time. I live in Surrey with my partner, our two sons and a variety of pets. When I’m not working or with my family, I can usually be found on a tennis court…

The two broad disciplines in trapeze are swinging and static. Our classes are in a form of static trapeze, which means we let the trapeze hang straight down without swinging on it. Both of the ropes are rigged from the same point in our classes, meaning that the ropes and bar form a large triangle shape and the trapeze can spin freely on the rigging point. This setup is commonly referred to as a “dance trapeze” setup. Our classes focus on making shapes on the equipment and moving through sequences, gradually building your skills as you get stronger and more confident. But these sessions will also help you build relevant strength and knowledge to give you a headstart if you ever decided to give flying trapeze a go in the future. People are often surprised by how much they achieve in their first trapeze session. So if you’re not sure if you’ll have enough strength for it, why not just come down and give it a go? We’re very friendly, we have a lot of fun, and you might just surprise yourself along the way!

Having grown up in Norfolk, I am inspired by the great British countryside and coastline. My paintings show my love of painting, colour, creating surface pattern texture and playing with compositions. I mostly paint in oils but also love to combine medias. My range of contemporary botanical prints are a real contrast to my oil paintings. But they also show my absolute passion for nature and love of colour and pattern, thanks to my textiles design background.. You are welcome to visit me in Studio 9, which is set in beautiful Oaks Park, opposite Mayfield lavender fields in North Surrey. I am there for a few hours most days and can often be seen painting outside my studio with my dog Tilly by my side. It is at my studio that I run my children’s art parties and various art classes and workshops. Karen feels very strongly against punitive heavy handed methods and believes if we have our dogs as companions and part of the family they should be treated that way. She also used to be a tutor for Alpha Education OCN accredited courses for new trainers and behaviour counsellors. Now 37, Karen's ambitions and success led her to branch out with her own team of trainers and launched Canine Kids® in July 2009. Karen and her team run training centres in Camberley, Godalming and Farnham area and do one to one training and behaviour councelling through out Surrey, areas of Berkshire and Hampshire. Pond Meadow Academy Trust is an outstanding special school where staff have high expectations and ambition for all children and young people. The Calibre programme has been run at North East London Foundation Trust every year since 2015. It was the first NHS Foundation Trust to host Calibre and over 50 members of disabled staff have completed the programme. These include doctors, nurses, specialist clinicians and professional staff as well. Not only has Calibre been beneficial to those member of staff, it has also benefited their managers, senior management and also the way in which disability is now understood at NELFT. Calibre is now integral part of the training offer to disabled staff at North East London Foundation Trust. I am a disabled person from a black and minority ethnic background, and an E&D consultant with fifteen years of experience as a trainer and specialist adviser. I spent twelve years as an academic at the Universities of Oxford, York and Surrey and have written seminal works on the experience of BME disabled people and social care. As a trainer, I have run disability and E&D training courses for Public Sector organisations such as the NHS, the Department of Health and Social Care, numerous Local Authorities, Universities and voluntary sector organisations. Since 2013, I have also run the Calibre Leadership Programmes for disabled staff at a number of Universities and NHS Trusts. If NHS foundation trusts like NELFT want to meet the needs of their disabled staff and see the improvements in their experience through the WDES.
