This course provides the theory, practical knowledge and skills required for use of microscopes and fibre counting to WHO rules, air sampling and four-stage clearance procedures. The course is based around 'HSG248 Asbestos: The Analysts Guide for Sampling, Analysis and Clearance Procedures'.

Who is it suitable for? This qualification is suitable for learners aged 19 and above. What are the entry requirements? There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. How is this qualification structured? The qualification is made up of three mandatory units: • Unit 1 Equality and diversity in society • Unit 2 Equality and diversity in the community • Unit 3 Equality and diversity in the workplace How is it assessed? This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed and externally verified portfolio of evidence. Funding for our qualifications This qualification is available fully funded under the Adult Education Budget funding stream and is free to the candidate.

P402 Surveying and sampling strategies for asbestos in buildings is the industry standard qualification for asbestos surveyors. In addition to holding the qualification, asbestos surveyors are required to undertake and provide evidence of annual refresher training. Previously, BOHS provided two Refresher courses for this purpose: P402RM (Management) and P402RRD (Refurbishment and Demolition). This new course, RP402 Refresher - Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings, replaces P402RM and P402RRD. RP402 Refresher enables candidates to revise and update their knowledge on all types of asbestos surveys, and to receive a certificate of course completion by passing a written examination, which covers both the theory and practice of surveying for asbestos in buildings.

Planned changes to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme mean that from September 2017, Construction Related Occupation (CRO) cards will be phased out. Without registration on an accepted course, or an industry-recognised qualification for your trade, you will not be able to apply for a CSCS card, unless you apply for the CSCS Labourer Card, to access construction sites. An IOSH Working Safely Certificate, along with a CITB Health & Safety Certificate, allows you to apply for a Labourer Card. Therefore, from September 2017, without a CSCS card, you won't get on site. The Labourer Card may be the only way you can get on site.

This is an opportunity to improve your knowledge of the issues surrounding your adult child at risk, share your experiences and gain ideas of support available for yourself and your adult child. The course covers the requirements set out in The Care Certificate, in NICE guidelines, and by the Care Quality Commission. This practical medication administration course includes competency sign-off.

Manual Handling covers more than simply lifting or carrying something. The term is used to describe activities such as lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying, moving, holding or restraining an object or person. It also covers activities that require the use of force or effort such as pulling a lever or operating power tools. The aim of the course is to provide a theoretical knowledge and the practical skills to recognise the risk of unsafe practices.
