Founded in 1987, CVP is an award winning manufacturer based in Cwmavon (South Wales). Situated within its own private grounds in the Welsh valleys, we have proven that industry can work with nature. The site was first developed in 1900 by brewery architects George Adlam and Sons of Bristol, for Charles Westlake and in 1997 became a grade II listed building. The building was located alongside the Afan Lwyd to take advantage of the water supply for use in the brewery, brewing at the site ceased in 1938. The site has been involved in the plastic industry for the last 40 years, and in that time has seen many changes, including the complete gutting and refurbishment of the derelict “White House” that became the new home of the companies office operations.

With there being no school trips this year, we have organised a picnic for the whole school on Wednesday 16th of Jne 2021 with a ‘Shorts and Shades’ theme. The picnic will take place in the playground in class bubbles, as per Covid 19 guidelines. Children are encouraged to wear summer clothes on this day (weather permitting!) and are not required to wear school uniform. Pupils can also bring along a small towel or blanket to sit on. These will be for individual use only. Please also provide sun lotion (if required) and an extra bottle of water. An afternoon snack is being provided for your child along with an ice cream from the visiting ice-cream van. Our wonderful Parent Council is providing this. Children with dietary requirements will also be catered for.

Many plastic items are used for only a few minutes but last for hundreds of years, they break down releasing microplastics and toxins into the environment. Plastics contain chemicals which can disrupt hormones and cause cancer and these, along with the microplastics are being consumed by animals. Microplastics have been found to pass into fruit and vegetables from the soil, they are found in our water, our bodies and even to cross the placenta into growing babies. Ocean litter also entangles and chokes marine animals, it is our duty to prevent plastic from polluting our environment. Plastic is a resource which we need to use wisely. We need to move towards a circular economy, reduce single use plastics, reuse and recycle as much as possible and dispose of plastic carefully.

Was born in Africa and lived in Lagos until her 9th birthday when her family moved back to the UK and more specifically Cornwall. Moving to Cornwall at such a key age shaped her passions and future in so many ways. Having always been in swimming pools and the sea in Africa the love of water intensified on the beautiful beaches and in the crashing Atlantic surf of the Cornish Coastline. The sea and its different moods have always been in her life. Being a keen surfer in her teens her love of playing in and with the elements became all encompassing when she discovered the thrill of kitesurfing. A pioneer in the early days of the sport she set up one of the first schools in the UK, and competed on the world circuit with her highest ranking being 3rd in the world. She also enjoyed other kiting challenges and set a world record by kitesurfing from Cornwall to Ireland ( under her maiden name Wharry), She discovered Glass by accident, through her landlady whilst studying at Falmouth art college, falling instantly in love with the look and the process of working with glass she decided to specialise in Architectural Stained Glass at Swansea. Though not actively working with glass during her sporting career, the fascination never left. Now retired from competition, glass is back as the focus of her passion. “Its colour, its reflections and translucent quality instantly captured my heart. To me it has a similar quality to water. It is enigmatic you can look at it, or through it. It is there and not there and can create a potent visual effect, either opulent or subtle. I love the challenge of designing for different buildings, interiors and people, whether a large architectural piece or an intensely personal small piece. “ Dreya

Martin has an degree in agriculture from Wye College, University of London. He then taught for 16 years at Writtle College specialising in financial management, agricultural trade, EU policy and business strategy. Martin also established a series of projects to link the College with other EU states to facilitate staff and student exchange, joint course delivery and the delivery of EU funded projects. He has taught short courses in Finland, the Netherlands and Romania. He continues to work closely with the education sector and now gives guest lectures on food markets and policy at the National Centre for Food Manufacturing at the University of Lincoln. Martin co-founded an import business in 1990 which he sold in 1999 and was a partner in the family farm J A Collison and Sons from 1994-2008 which supplies cut flowers to supermarkets. He founded Collison and Associates with Lynn in 2002, having been a consultant since 2000. His clients have included a wide range of commercial, public and third sector bodies and he specializes in developing strategies, projects and programmes to deliver change in rural areas. During 2012-13 Martin worked alongside the team developing the UK Agri-Tech Strategy. Martin is a member of: Greater Lincolnshire Food Board, Greater Lincolnshire Water Management Board, Norfolk Rural Development Strategy delivery group and the CLA’s Agriculture and Land Use Committee. He was Vice Chair of the Fens Adventurers Leader RDPE Group (2010-‘13) and is Chair of the Cambridgeshire Fens Leader group (2015-2020). He leads the Communications and Engagement work of Water Resources East (WRE). As well as his Higher Education, consultancy and business experience Martin was a Principal Examiner for ‘A’ Level applied business for AQA from 2000-’13 following previous work as an examiner for City and Guilds and Edexcel. Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive from parents of our new students: * We are a professional organisation and as such are the premier martial arts association in your area. * Yes, parents do see a marked improvement in concentration levels at school when children have been training with us for a period. * The above classes are for beginner grade children only. * Classes are structured to be fun yet disciplined. We have strict rules regarding fighting / play fighting outside of the classes! * All beginners train in their tracksuit bottoms and t-shirts, they will need a drink of water for during the class. * Our Karate Suits (Gi) cost £35 which includes delivery, white belt & embroidery of Association badge. You do not need to purchase this until you are happy that your child is going to continue their training for the foreseeable future. * Beginner class fees are £26 per calendar month, payable by standing order. We like to encourage students to train as much as possible and even though we only charge for one lesson per week, this fee allows unlimited training in any suitable class, but of course it is up to you how often your child trains! Fees are payable for every month of the year you are a member regardless of attendance. One months’ notice of cancellation in writing is required. * Fees are discounted where more than one direct family members are training! * Please note that once graded to intermediate level students are required to move up a class and train at least twice weekly whenever possible. Monthly fees do increase at Intermediate level. * If for any reason you miss your regular nights training, this can be made up any time at any suitable class within the Association without prior notice! * We do not have Mums, Dads or Guardians in the hall during classes as over the years we have found that children, especially the younger ones tend to join in and enjoy the classes so much more when Mum or Dad aren't looking on. * All Martial Artists no matter how young or old must be licensed! This is a yearly fee, the first year’s licence fee is £27 and includes your Licence & record book, thereafter yearly fees are £22. * All children are taught not to bully and how not to be bullied!
