We have an excellent and very close working relationship with Dave, Helen and their team and they cover all aspects of the event management for us. As well as the preparation work their 'on the day' management and organisation are first rate and we have had great feedback from the runners, volunteers, charities, sponsors and celebrities about how much they have enjoyed the events. We are delighted that The Fix Events are one of our key partners.” Martin Smith – Project Manager, Go Dad Run “In 2015 we contracted the Fix Events to manage a series of 5K and 10K running events in Glasgow, Birmingham and London. We held the fun runs to raise money for the Stroke Association and with the help of Fix Events we brought together thousands of people in support of this very important cause. The events themselves were executed seamlessly and extremely professionally, with the added elements of fun, humor and a relaxed ‘all-welcoming’ atmosphere. Brighouse High School

Brighouse

At the heart of the Brighouse community is Brighouse High School and we are delighted to start a new academic year on the front foot with you all, looking forward to another successful year working together. The summer results showed the determination and resilience of our students and staff and we were delighted to see our Year 11 and Year 13 cohorts secure the qualifications they needed to take those important next steps in life. Even more satisfying, perhaps, was seeing the development of those young people over the years into young adults ready to contribute to society. Despite the continuing difficulties of last year, our school and our community continued to thrive and we are proud of all of their achievements. A particular highlight of last year was the relaunching of our wide and varied extra –curricular activities and our trips and visits. Everyone was delighted to see the Lakes trip back in the calendar and the Year 7 students had a wonderful week up in the Lake District during that final week of June. There have also been other trips out to the coast for coursework studies in Geography and to Doe Park and Bradley Woods for outdoor pursuits as well as planning ahead for the return of the Berlin trip and the Ski trip. As we took the step back to formal examinations, we saw the incredible achievements of our students who have worked hard for many years to secure the richly deserved outcomes from the key stage 4 and key stage 5 examinations. As always, I am delighted to say that Brighouse High School students are heading into the wider world to embrace their next challenges, whether that be with us for two more years in our sixth form, in college, university or employment and the school continued to strengthen the qualification outcomes in many key areas. In our vibrant and successful sixth form college there were outstanding results in academic and vocational qualifications and our post-16 students moved on to their places in higher education, employment or training. In key stage 4 we were delighted to see that the majority of our students achieved the important GCSE benchmark qualifications in English and Maths, the vital springboard into their next stages in education and life beyond school, and succeeded across our rich creative curriculum too. As always though, I am sure that you will agree that our school is about so much more than just qualifications. From the moment our Year 7 students step foot across the threshold, they are challenged to contribute and to achieve within a warm, caring and supportive environment. The opportunities within and beyond the traditional curriculum are rich and diverse at Brighouse High School; we encourage all of our students to become part of our community and build on the sense of togetherness, which is so important to us, and importantly recognised by those who visit us. Ofsted recognised the strength of relationships in our school when we were inspected in February of this year, commenting that ‘positive relationships are a cornerstone of the school’ and recognising that ‘everyone cares at Brighouse’. It is on the firm foundations of these relationships that we build our success with our students and the community. We will continue to deliver strong classroom practice within an appropriate and personalised curriculum, a positive ethos and behaviour and, with support from home, we will continue to deliver successful outcomes for all.

Which? and The Student Room have worked together to ensure that valuable content from the award-winning Which? University website could continue to be easily available to students, parents and teachers. From 3 February 2020, the course and university search tools and much of the independent expert advice developed by Which? to help students make informed choices is now owned and operated by The Student Room, as The Uni Guide. The site retains its design and the key student-facing services. It also maintains the Which? University ethos of focusing on the needs of the student and delivering the highest quality expert advice and guidance, independently and free of bias. “We are delighted to have found a great new home for much of our excellent university content," says Jenni Allen, Director of Content at Which?. "We chose to work with the Student Room as they share our mission to be a trusted, independent source of information for students. "We are exceptionally proud of the fact that we have helped millions of prospective students and their families make informed choices about all aspects of their higher education over the years, and our agreement with The Student Room ensures that many more will benefit in future.” “As part of The Student Room family, The Uni Guide will allow us to help even more students in their educational journey," says Pete Barnes, managing director of The Student Room. "We will continue to develop the site as a market-leading source of guidance and will be introducing new services to deepen the support we offer to university applicants.” For student finance and other information now available on the Which? site The Uni Guide is a free and unbiased university advice service from the The Student Room, which is based on content that was originally hosted on Which? University. Our mission is to help students make the best possible choices and get the most out of their educational career. The Uni Guide does this through interactive tools, straightforward advice, and key stats (including explaining what these numbers actually mean). This way, you have everything you need to decide with confidence where you want to spend the next three years of your life studying. We can help you… Find a university course: search, sort, compare and shortlist from more than 30,000 full-time and part-time degree courses via UCAS. Match your predicted or actual grades to courses’ entry requirements to narrow down your search. Our course profiles contain full entry requirements, tuition fees, modules and course-content info, and satisfaction ratings from students. Learn more about a university or college: view over 300 university and college profiles to get the latest league-table ranking, comments from current students and more. Match your A-levels to degree course possibilities: enter your subjects into our A-level Explorer to see the full breadth of degree subjects you could study (including ones that weren’t on your radar). If you’re a Year 11 student choosing A-levels, you can use the Explorer to see where different combinations will leave you in two years’ time (particularly useful if you already have a degree subject in mind). Enter the ones you’re mulling over and see whether they’ll lead you down the right path. Get tips and advice at each stage: you don’t have to make the journey to university alone. Read jargon-free advice and guides, including guest posts from external experts (admission tutors and careers advisers) and personal student stories.

Philadelphia Church Of God

philadelphia church of god

Henley-In-Arden

From the beginning of Jesus Christ’s ministry with just 12 disciples to the thousands of laborers, supporters and co-workers of today, God’s Work has had a vital job to do. The purpose for which Christ established the Church characterizes its work—its activities and overall commission. The Work is a spiritual work. In the New Testament, Christ showed us that the purpose of God’s Work is twofold. First, we are to proclaim to the world, as a witness, the good news of the coming Kingdom of God. As part of that witness, because of mankind’s sins we are to publish the Bible’s warning of the disasters that will precede Christ’s Second Coming. Secondly, we are to spiritually nourish the Church itself, preparing the people God calls for future responsibilities under Christ when He returns to rule all nations in love. The many and varied endeavors of the pcg all trace back to this clear, exciting twofold commission. The ministers and members of the pcg are dedicated to proclaiming and living the way of life explained in the Bible. It is a way of sharing and giving, of caring for others, of striving for godliness in all our dealings with our fellow man. It is a way of family harmony and joy, a way of peace among nations and peoples of all cultures and races. It is a way of rigorous accomplishment, and drawing on God’s help to achieve the very fullest of our incredible human potential. The pcg is working—humbly, but diligently—to hasten the day when, as the Prophet Isaiah said, “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:9). The pcg promotes strong families and practicing “pure religion”—looking after the widows and fatherless (James 1:27). Members endeavor to follow God’s law: love toward Him and love toward fellow man (Mark 12:30-31). Philadelphia Church of God: Statement of Activities The purpose of the Philadelphia Church of God is to preach, promote and advance the spiritual teachings of the Church. It is also the Church’s responsibility to support and maintain local congregations and ministers in order to propagate the faith. In furtherance of the above objective, the Philadelphia Church of God will: Establish, maintain and administer churches to provide for the fraternal, spiritual and educational needs of those members of the public who wish to study or practice the religious observances, tenets and doctrines associated with the faith; Educate, ordain and hire ministers to care for and work with the congregations; Procure, advertise and arrange for the broadcast of The Key of David television program for the free educational benefit of the public and procure, advertise and circulate educational reading material and audio tapes for the free educational benefit of the public; Establish, maintain and administer a central office to provide for the overall control, coordination and management of the Philadelphia Church of God, which includes general administration and record keeping relating to funds received, funds disbursed and other legal requirements; Provide scholarships and other assistance based on applicants’ financial needs and local pastors’ recommendations to a summer educational program for youth and an annual religious retreat; Provide for an evangelical and missionary support system in particular areas of the world to which the Philadelphia Church of God desires to bring a similar message by similar means as mentioned above; Provide for humanitarian financial contributions or works of service through the Philadelphia Foundation to national and international charitable and humanitarian projects deemed worthy by the Philadelphia Church of God.

Last but not least, attending a UK university means you’ll be able to make connections and develop a high-quality network that can prove very useful when the time comes to look for a job. Besides, the UK is a multicultural society, and as such, you’ll easily be able to meet friends for life. Education Systems in the UK The UK education system can be divided into four distinct levels, and the national curriculum is organised into ‘’key stages’’: Primary education: Students will attend between ages five and age 11 and undertake key stage 1 and 2 with compulsory subjects and tests to assess their English and Maths skills Secondary education: Students will typically be between 11 and 16 years of age, undertake key stages 3 and 4 and work towards taking their GCSE’s. Further education: Students who have completed their secondary education and wish to gain access to university or college must complete further education. They’ll have to obtain qualifications such as A-Levels, BTEC's, or other qualifications based on the type of curriculum they wish to pursue. Higher education: With over 33% of British people entering the higher education level every year, the competition is fierce. A-Levels are the main criteria to get into university. However, there are some entry pathways, such as enrolling for an Access to Higher Education (Access to HE) course. If you’re an international student, you‘ll need to complete the equivalent to the UK’s further education. Note that all four regions of the UK, including Northern Ireland, England, Wales, and Scotland, have their own forms of education systems. The main difference pertains to primary and secondary education, where each region has its own qualifications. Higher Education Higher education in the UK offers students multiple options ranging from bachelors and masters to doctoral degrees. As an international student, you can apply for pathway programme in order to improve your English skills while accessing foundation courses to consolidate your basic knowledge in some specific areas before enrolling for university. This will ensure you acquire both the English and academic qualifications you need to get access to better universities. Note that both universities and private institutions offer pathway programs. Undergraduate courses Undergraduate courses are a great way for students to transition to the university level after high-school. Indeed, undertaking an undergraduate course in the UK will provide you with a first-degree level (Bachelor) while allowing you to explore different subjects and better define your preferences. To help you understand the different types of programs you can choose from, we’ve added a table below. Postgraduate studies Postgraduate courses allow students to obtain a postgraduate diploma, a professional degree, a master’s degree, or a doctorate and usually require having a first degree to enter (Bachelor). More specifically, there are four main types of postgraduate degrees: Taught courses: Master’s degrees or postgraduate diplomas Research degrees: PhDs, DPhils, integrated PhDs, and professional doctorates Conversion courses: Certificates and diplomas based on crash courses designed to get you up to speed on a subject you haven’t studied before Professional qualifications: Practical training to enter a specific profession To help you understand the different types of programs you can choose from, we’ve added a table below. Tuition Fees Tuition fees will greatly vary depending on your location, the institution you’re studying at, the study level, the program, and the duration of the program. Normally, the tuition fees range from 10,000GBP to 20000GBP+ per year, depend on the university or college you are going to attend. Students life in the UK The UK includes four different countries, including England, Scotland, North Ireland, and Wales, and is home to 66.65 million inhabitants. A few general facts you should be familiar with when enrolling for a British university: British people like law and order Respect and politeness are expected Punctuality is important Universities and college campuses are non-smoking zones Although the UK is usually safe, travel in a group at night, lock your doors, and avoid leaving your valuables in plain sight Accommodation There are a few different types of accommodation options available when it comes to accommodation for international students depending on your location, your budget, and whether or not your university features halls of residence: Halls of residence Finding accommodation will most likely be one of the first obstacles to tackle as an international student. One of the most popular options for a foreign student who starts the first year of study in the UK is to stay in a hall of residence. Halls of residence are buildings offering small single or shared flats usually provided by universities or colleges to accommodate students. Living in a hall of residence is an excellent way to meet other students as they feature common facilities and communal areas such as canteens, pool tables, or bars. This option is usually cheaper than renting a flat or a house. Private Flats or Houses While choosing to live in a flat or a house is more costly than staying in a hall of residence, this option allows for flexibility as you’ll be able to choose the location you live in. However, choosing to live by yourself might make meeting new people more challenging. According to a study led by the World University Ranking in 2020, the average student rent is £126 per week on average, and the average annual rent cost is £4,914. Note that around 70% of rents include bills. Shared flats Some websites, such as studentspareroom.co.uk or room.go.uk , allow students to research shared houses and shared flat options. Less expensive than renting a private flat, this option will also allow you to meet other people (may they be students or not). It also means you won’t have to consistently stay on the college or university premises. Public Transport The UK is well connected through different types of transport: Trains: Most cities and towns in the UK have a train station. You can plan your journey and book your tickets on thetrainline.com . As a full-time international student under the age of 25, you are eligible for a 30% discounted pass . Coaches: Coaches are a great option if you’re planning to explore the UK as these large buses are designed for long journeys. Buses: Buses are the cheapest way to travel around and are very popular among students. You can use the app city mapper to plan your journey. You can find tickets based on your destination here . Underground: Whether you’re studying in London or just exploring for a couple of days, you’ll most likely use ‘’the tube’’ to travel around. As an international student under the age of 25, you can apply for the 18+ student Oyster card , which will give you access to a 30% discount on fares. Social Life Two great ways to immerse yourself into the UK culture and embrace the local way of life is to learn English and join student clubs or societies. Some campuses, including Loughborough University, Lancaster, or Liverpool Hope, offer great facilities such as spas, gyms, shops, bars, and clubs, which can help you meet other students. The towns and campuses brim with bars, restaurants, and clubs welcoming countless students every night. Going out on the weekends is an integral part of the UK way of life and is a widespread activity among students. Note that, if you’re invited to a house party or for dinner, you’ll be expected to bring something along (dessert if it’s a dinner, for instance, or a drink if it’s a party). Note that the pub culture is embedded in the UK way of life as it’s a way for people to relax and socialise. Although the country is multicultural and international cuisines are an integral part of the UK food scene, Britons have a few specialties you might want to try on a day out with friends. Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash, Shepherd’s pie or steak & kidney pudding are some of the British favourites to try. Last but not least, the local sense of humour might surprise you. Indeed, Brits use sarcasm and irony a lot (famous British sense of humour) so make sure you don’t take things to the first degree as they’ll often be teasing you.
