"the Gloucestershire dialect seemed like a foreign language" WORKSHOPS - COURSES - MENTORING Dialect is an inclusive literary development platform for rural writers. Our home is in Gloucestershire but we reach rural writers all over the UK and beyond. Dialect is here to develop talent, connect with communities and offer rural writers opportunities to share their work. Our Story Dialect launched quietly in July 2020 with an online Summer School of taster workshops. A programme of workshops around Stroud Book Festival followed, along with regular critique workshops, courses, a Writer In Residence scheme in partnership with Lake 32 and an Arts Council funded mentoring scheme. We are now offering regular courses focused on the craft of writing and immersive writing workshops in intriguing rural locations. Dialect is now a Community Interest Company, committed to investing in literature and author development. We will soon be launching DIRT, a plantable ecopoetry press… Ethos Dialect speaks from the edges of things. We celebrate the remote and the pastoral, the mountains and hills, the woods and the wilderness, the coasts and waterways, but also the small town and its suburbs, the retail parks, verges, dual carriageways, wastelands, lay-bys, scrapyards, agricultural spaces, derelict mills, industrial estates, motorway services, recycling centres, the spaces and voices in-between.

weaversbazaar came out of a shared passion for tapestry weaving when Matty Smith and Lin Squires met for the first time on the 2008 West Dean College Tapestry Summer School. We had both been experimenting with art, craft and cloth weaving and loved using yarns in creative ways. As we progressed through that hot summer week, weaving and talking and talking and weaving, we not only discovered many shared life experiences but also a common sense of fulfilment in the process and outcomes of tapestry weaving. However, once away from West Dean, we faced a serious challenge - how to find high-quality yarns in just the right colours needed for the tapestries we wanted to weave. After much research, a supplier of high-twist worsted yarn was found and then a dyer who was able to match-dye from just a one-inch colour sample...and at that point, we began to think about whether this would be a product and a service that other textile artists would be interested in: weaversbazaar was launched! The products and services we offer have grown in popularity: our original range of six colours have grown to over 200.The fine 18/2 yarn we started with has been complemented by two medium-weight worsted yarns (7/2 & 9.5/2). In addition, we have extended the range of yarns offered to include both dyed and undyed Nettle, Silk and Linen. We commission the manufacture of equipment that cant be found else where and a year ago took on a studio space in which we run workshops. In doing all these things have establish relationships with diverse textile artists arounfd the world and to communicate regularly with our growing community; sharing information and news that we hope both interests and informs. And our own weaving has continued to develop. Lin and Matty are both active members of the British Tapestry Group, the American Tapestry Alliance and the Canadian Tapestry Network and relish opportunities to get together with other tapestry weavers and textile artists to share ideas. Everyone who contributes to weaversbazaar is a textile maker. Matty retired from weaversbazaar in April 2020. But we continue and Rachel Hanney has joined Lin to continue to develop weaversbazaar. Our mission remains to be the place to find quality yarns and reliable, to provide a personalised service and to facilitate creativity and especially Tapestry Weaving as a contemporary art form.

Camp Crusoe is the quintessentially British summer camp experience where campers feel connected, valued, challenged, and supported. We take having fun incredibly seriously and believe that as modern childhood is all too short we must help our kids make the most of every moment of it. While school work is a vital part of our children’s development, so too is holiday time: Camp Crusoe is very much a fun and adventurous camp and not a summer school! We are the perfect size. There are plenty of opportunities to make new friends with no more than 80 campers per session. We know every camper by name, what interests them, if they need extra support or just an open stage to shine. Over the course of camp, community bonds are forged that last well after campers return home, sometimes a lifetime. Having seen first hand how our American cousins get it so right when it comes to summer camps, we feel it is essential that every child has the opportunity to get away from home each year and enjoy a new environment, testing themselves, trying new things and making new friends, all while having fun in the great outdoors. Too much time seems to be spent cooped up with electronic gadgetry of one sort or another when there is so much fun to be had outdoors, playing with other kids in a safe and controlled setting. Our extensive program of activities from water-sports to drama, archery to photography, appeal to every type of child, offering the opportunity for each camper to grow in confidence, improve their decision making skills and maybe discover a new lifelong hobby. We don’t try to cram too much in and allow just the right amount of time for campers to hangout, make new friends and play together. We are a small, independent camp run by a close-knit team of friends and family who are committed to enriching children’s lives. The core group have many years experience working with children both on summer camps and in the classroom, and are supported by a highly trained and motivated team of camp counsellors, many of whom have worked at camp before and are planning a career working with children. Camp Crusoe is about allowing children the time and space to be exactly that - children. Fun and personal development is our ultimate aim, but we also know from experience how much children learn at camp, both about themselves and about being part of something larger than them. We offer one to one private lessons in our studio in Meadowbank or online lessons. Groups We offer a range of music group activities including our Baby music groups (for ages 0-5), youth singing groups, performance coaching workshops and summer school music groups. Please contact us to find out the groups that are currently available. Concerts At ESM we believe that learning to make incredible music is just not as rewarding if you don’t share it with others. We provide monthly showcases at Edinburgh's Jazz Bar in addition to end of term concerts. This gives our students plenty of opportunities to showcase their progress and develops our pupils into confident performers. Our strong faculty staff ensure that students are able to learn and complete ISTD exams in a multitude of dance genres (Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre, Jazz, Contemporary, Street, Rock 'n' Roll and Freestyle) as well as LAMDA solo acting exams and London College of Music singing exams. Higher level ISTD and LAMDA exams also carry beneficial UCAS points for university. We are a family run school that has been running for over 5 years and we really enjoy coming each Saturday to see everyone! We have our amazing bi-annual show and in between this an ‘Exhibition of Work’ evening and an annual ‘Acting Showcase’ followed by a prize-giving. Every August we have our ever growing popular Summer School with our amazing Musical Director Robert Hyman and Pixie. All the students have worked so hard every Saturday and Tuesday and Thursday evenings, we are extremely proud of them all! It is so wonderful to see the students come to us to learn and grow into talented individuals. We have our wonderful teachers to thank for this and parents for being so supportive. Our students have gained 100% pass rates in their exams, most obtaining the highest marks. Our outstanding achievements from our 2015 opening to date are: Jessica Wade-Barry was cast in ‘The Sound of Music Live’ for ITV, in 2015. Erin LeCount was a finalist in the ITV show, ‘The Voice Kids UK’, in 2017. Lucy Blanchfield went to Laine Theatre Arts and then onto Bird College where she was awarded a DADA in 2017. Holly McDonagh played her West End debut as little Cosette in Cameron Macintosh’s West End musical production of ‘Les Misérables’ Jan 2017 to Jan 2018. Holly also played little Gloria Estefan in the musical ‘On Your Feet’ at the Leicester Curve and then at the London Coliseum from May to Sept 2019. In 2018, Mia Lineham passed her ISTD Advanced 1 Tap with a distinction, aged 15. In 2018, Holly-Marie Davenport passed her ISTD Intermediate Tap and Intermediate Modern both with a distinction, aged 15. Frankie-Mae Garner made her West End debut in the musical ‘School of Rock’ in 2018. Lily Boreham and Taite Grindlay were selected to be part of The English Youth’s Ballet production of ‘Cinderella In Hollywood’ in July 2018. Lucia Wratten was a finalist in the ISTD Junior Ballet Awards in October 2018 and 2019, and also qualified for the ISTD National Finals in Solo Disco Freestyle Set Dance in 2020. Faye Wood was a finalist in the ISTD Junior Ballet Awards in October 2018. In 2019, Harvey Alcott passed his LAMDA grade 8 (gold medal) with a distinction, aged 16. Lucy Shaw was cast for a feature film ‘120 Hours’ in 2019 and also a short film ‘Our Plastic Beach’ in 2020. Mary Alcott and Lucia Wratten were awarded scholarships from The English Youth Ballet. Elise De Boos, Jessica Fleet, Holly McDonagh, Madison Karukus were also selected for the production of ‘Giselle’ in March 2020. Scarlett Coles qualified in Solos for the ISTD Freestyle Nationals in 2020. Our Elite Competition Team came 1st Place at the ISTD competition in 2020. Annabelle Holland, Mary Alcott, Elise De Boos were awarded scholarships to the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. Ruby Rose Rider, Madison Karakus and Jessica Tickel were awarded full time places too. Jessica Tickel recently auditioned and has now been offered a full time place at Arts Educational School. Holly-Marie Davenport was awarded a DADA and joined Bird College in 2019. Taite Grindlay was accepted into the Dance Conservatoire. Ruby Rose Rider auditioned and was offered after a place at The National Youth Theatre as a member and ambassador. In September 2019 Ruby-Rose successfully auditioned at the Arts Educational School and joined their sixth form. She will be going into her second year in September 2020 as Head Girl. In 2020, Elise de Boos, Lottie Wright, Holly McDonagh and Madison Karakus gained places to attend Performers Elite Program, training with the college once a month for a year. During Lockdown 2020, Lucia Wratten and Scarlett Coles qualified for ISTD Grand National Finals, Scarlett placed in the top 12 and Lucia Wratten placed 3rd in the whole of the UK. We also competed online for the prestigious Janet Cram awards where there were over 700 entries. Holly-Marie, Lucia and Scarlett were Semi finalists, placing in the top 20. Izzy White auditioned and successfully gained a place in December 2020 to start The British & Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) in Sept 2021. Christina Turner passed London College of Music (LCM) Grade 8 singing with g8 singing with a distinction. In Feb 2021 our elite team Qualified to represent England in Small group Street, Show dance and Jazz. Holly-Marie Davenport was selected to compete in the Senior Jazz Solo section for the Dance World Cup ,representing England.

Onsite training delivery costs are more variable due to complexity and location and are available on discussion/application.
