I’m Louisa and I live in Edinburgh with my husband, Craig and two young boys, Adam and Angus. Keeping fit and healthy has always been a priority for me. Yoga is a great way to build strength and focus the mind. I started practising yoga around age 14 but really started feel the mental health benefits when working full time in a stressful job as it allowed me that time to switch off. During my pregnancies, yoga really became a huge part of my life to maintain strength and prepare my body for birth through breathing, movement and relaxation.
Yoga is a unique and different way of exercising. The purpose of each class is to help students relax and energise. Every class starts with a warm up by using movement with breathing. It continues with a variety of postures designed to build strength and improve flexibility. This combination of stretching and breathing help to de-stress the body, preparing you to finish each session with some simple breathing exercises, followed by deep relaxation. Did you know that as soon as you take conscious control of your breathing, you are moving into a meditative state? It really is as simple as that.
