Zurbel Training works with local communities such as the Job Centre Plus, Connexions, Advice & Guidance and the Outreach Team in making sure candidates are guided on the right path. Our gratitude to our business partners working with us for our learners' work job placement, 95 per centre. With the support of our centre partners, courses are now delivered closer to learners' vicinity within their community. They also have the opportunity to study from home via our online E-portfolio assessment system. On completion, all our learners supported with progression route into further education or employment, where we offer them workshop activities on their CV writing, confidence building and job interviews techniques. General feedback from stakeholders i.e learners, employers, staff and funders have been so encouraging, in seeing learners achieving their aims. Our main aim is to increase our provisions to the hard to reach target group in the country and to secure direct funding.

Landmarks started to offer day services and post-16 education in March 1995, where the curriculum was largely practical and land-based, working in farm buildings in Creswell, Derbyshire. Since that time Landmarks has grown and developed its educational offer so that by the time of writing this welcome, Landmarks supports over 150 post-16 and day service Learners, all of whom learn a variety of essential life skills from our five sites located across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. We have changed our curriculum from purely land and animal-based to include several vocational subjects such as; hospitality, catering, cookery, retail, administration and labouring. These additional subjects support our learners to make informed choices about the type of vocations they would like to follow. College life at Landmarks involves being taught in practical, real-life situations, whilst being supported by highly trained and experienced staff who are experts in working with learners with additional needs. It is important for me, as it is for my team, that whilst learners are with us, they focus on developing knowledge, skills and behaviour that makes a real difference to their lives. I hope from reading the case studies and outcomes featured within this website, you can see what difference that focus has made to our learners’ lives. I am extremely proud of all our learners’ achievements, either becoming more independent so that they can attend activities they enjoy or securing employment for the first time in their lives. Indeed, we are so keen to support our learners that when you leave Landmarks, should you need support to maintain employment or seek advice you can contact our dedicated ‘After College, Aftercare’ team. We are the Open College of the Arts. An open access, distance learning provider of higher education courses based in Barnsley, UK. We were created by Michael Young in 1987, one of the founders of the Open University, to offer high quality arts courses as a means to transform lives, with the opportunity to develop and express creative talents under the guidance of experienced artists. An OCA qualification, be that a degree, Certificate or Diploma in Higher Education, or undergraduate credit, can be a huge achievement for many and opens the doors to new careers, or new lifestyles built around the arts. Over 2000 people study with us every year as part of a truly global community representing 67 nationalities worldwide on 13 degree programmes and one Masters. We reach people in every walk of life, with over 20% of our students having a declared disability, and many students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and with no qualifications. Our students come from every walk of life imaginable, fitting work, family, caring responsibilities and everything else alongside study and more besides. OCA’s community consists of students, practitioners and tutors working together, offering encouragement, creative criticism, hints, tips, insights and ideas. A community invested time, running events, social media groups, meet-ups in places as diverse as London and Glasgow, Newport and Scunthorpe, you’ll feel at home as part of the OCA.
