The Woodlands Academy is an Academy for children with a range of Special Needs and Disabilities. Our aim is to prepare our students for the challenges of the 21st Century. For some students this will mean a working independent life and for others there will be planned dependency with as much independence as their needs allow. Our aim is for children to develop into, confident, happy, positive young people. We will ensure we understand each unique individual and their needs. Personalised planned pathways support every child in their progression. We have a strong pastoral structure built on a caring philosophy which nurtures positive relationships through high expectations and supported challenge. We work holistically to develop student’s resilience, mature behaviour, responsibility and independence. Introduction to the Garden Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden was created by a wealthy Warrington banker, Thomas Parr, around 1830 when he built a new house and estate for his family. The land nearest the house was designated as parkland to give a suitable setting to the mansion and the outer areas were farm land. The landscape that existed at that time was incorporated into the estate and many of the woodlands, ponds and avenues that formed the parkland then still remain in place today. As a whole these features form a significant record of a landscape designed in the manner of a gentry country estate. It appears, from historical records, that the estate was at its height from 1875 – 1899 and this is considered to be the most significant period for the design and productivity of the garden. The house was demolished in 1975 but the 4 acre walled garden was retained as a local amenity. English Partnerships refurbished much of the garden as part of their development of the area and new housing, working closely with the Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden Conservation Project charity, the Warrington Organic and Wildlife Gardening Society and the Woodland Trust. Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council took ownership of the garden in 2005 and, with the help of funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Friends of Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden, has developed the facility into a peaceful, well maintained and beautiful garden which is now a popular local visitor attraction and resource for horticulture, education and enjoyment.

Based in the Borders town of Peebles, surrounded by beautiful countryside, Rosetta Early Learners provides quality early learning and childcare for children from 2.5 years of age until starting primary school. Rosetta is a small, friendly setting where learning through play and working in partnership with families and the wider community are central to its ethos. The dedicated team of experienced staff and volunteers ensure a high adult to child ratio and we welcome parents and families to get involved and be part of the Rosetta experience. In addition to our nursery playroom and garden area we have access to the grounds of the adjoining primary school and nearby areas of green space and woodland. We work in partnership with Scottish Borders Council (SBC) to provide funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) sessions for children from the term after their third birthday. We also provide parent funded sessions for children from 2.5 years of age. We are open term time and the term dates follow those of the local schools with occasional minor changes to allow for staff training.

Welcome to Love Outdoor Learning. We help children grow, develop and learn whilst they connect with their natural environment.Love Outdoor Learning was founded by Carol Murdoch. She is a teacher who quickly discovered the magic of taking learning into the playground and beyond. With almost twenty years of working in education, she has experience teaching in primary, severe and complex schools and ASD bases. Throughout the years’ Carol has and is working on wide range of training. This includes a Master in Learning for Sustainability (with an outdoor learning focus), Lead Teacher in Outdoor Learning, Woodland Activity Leader Training and also Forest School training (level 8 FOLA). She is also set to complete her Coastal Activity Leader Training in July 2022. She Carol loves to support schools by providing training, advice and resources helping teachers break out of the classroom and deliver learning outdoors. Carol is one of the countries leading educational consultants supporting schools in Scotland, the UK and across the globe. She delivers training, presents keynote speeches and is passionate about helping schools develop high quality outdoor learning.

Based adjacent to the Infants School at Sarisbury Green, Woodlands Early Roots has been designed to offer a stimulating and safe environment, with motivated staff to provide children with the best possible care from birth to school. Half & Full Day Sessions Available Woodlands is open 51 weeks of the year, with very minimal full shutdown which is usually over Christmas time. School Readiness Programme Our ‘Rising Fours’ have been established for over 10 years now, preparing our oldest children and parents for school. Recognised and supported by our local schools.
