WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? Our approach is light touch with minimal intervention in the environment and prioritising nature. We are currently developing our site facilities and creating spaces for small groups and low impact events. These include bushcraft, forest school, wellbeing sessions, forest bathing, yoga, pilates, artist retreats etc. We’re already working with schools, charities, youth and arts groups. If you've got a small scale event, workshop or idea you'd like to make happen, we would love to hear from you. Just drop us a message on our contact page. NATURE Our ethos is very much one of balance, so for us plants and animals are as important as people. We are currently working with fantastic environmental advisors to establish what plants and animals are currently residing on our site. Our aim is to protect the habitats that already exist, create a comprehensive management plan and increase biodiversity where possible. It's all about the science! In common with most of the British Isles the land here has been managed by humans for hundreds of years - a mixture of farming, park land and old tree plantations. It’s not wild in the true sense of an untouched natural ecosystem but it’s a special place that has been left pretty much to itself for several decades. Check out our Instagram to see photos of some of the animals who make their home here. We’re just starting our long term project to create more detailed surveys of the flora and fauna, and are excited to meet and work with new people. Universal Yoga started in 2004 when Charlotta completed her Teacher Training Certificate and moved into the village, initially we ran classes at the Conygre Hall and the Congregational Church Halls in Timsbury, only in 2008 did we get a space of our own at Red Hill, soon outgrown, we decided to move to Dunkerton Hall, a beautiful little parish hall which we get to have all to ourselves. Universal Yoga, as the name implies is a centre for everyone, young and old, pregnant and babies. We are all from the Sivananda lineage and we strongly believe in the yoga of synthesis, meaning that each class should be a combination of postures, relaxation, breathing exercises and sometimes meditation. Both Charlotta and Becky are Senior Yoga Teachers and as such, run a Teacher Training course every year. We believe that nothing should stand between you and your yoga class, so if there are any financial concerns, please get in-touch to see if we can help in some way. Library of Things and Repair Cafes. We are currently (as of Spring 2021) introducing HOW TO Reduce your Carbon Footprint workshops within the Share and Repair Shop and as a pilot project within primary schools. Another strand of ‘sharing’ is our Library of Things. We started this at the Weston Hub in November 2018 and changed our official name to Share & Repair in line with our expanded vision. We become a charity: In April 2020, Share and Repair gained charitable status as a CIO (charitable incorporated organisation) no 1189015. This is a major milestone for us and means we are accountable and can now raise funds through grant making trusts and from Gift Aid. We opened our first pop-up shop: In June 2020 we hit another major milestone when we opened the doors to the Share and Repair Shop in the centre of Bath. Our first location on Broad Street had an incredible response, raising awareness of sharing and repairing in Bath. In August 2021 we moved to another location at 3 York Buildings, George Street (BA1 2EB), which is now the new home for the Bath Library of Things and a place where we run even more repair sessions. HomeKIT launches: In Spring 2021 we officially launch HomeKIT. This is a new project that will see us taking donations of good-quality but unwanted kettles, irons and toasters and sharing these ‘home kits’ with partner charities who will distribute them to low-income households. If items need repairing, we certainly have the skills and means to do so. We’re really excited about expanding our work in this way and working with other organisations.
