Humankind was first listed as a registered charity in 1984. We are committed to reducing deprivation and exclusion and to improving people’s wellbeing; our vision is for people of all ages to be safe, building ambitions for the future and reaching towards their full potential.  We are an established provider of LGBT+ services and have recognised/supported LGBT+ young people across the North-East for over 14 years. During this time, we have undertaken significant growth in our model and delivery areas, based on service user/partner feedback, referrals, and issue presentation. This growth has led to the development of our training offer and the appointment of a full time Lead Trainer at the beginning of 2022.  While our support services are based in the North-East, we offer a range of CPD accredited training sessions to professionals, young people and schools nationwide. These sessions have been developed by a team with extensive and varied lived, professional and teaching experience. Our training sessions cover topics including LGBT+ Awareness, Gender Identity Awareness, Creating an LGBT+ Inclusive Environment and Understanding Pronouns. The development of these sessions has resulted in our team having an in depth understanding of the issues faced by members of the LGBT+ community in the workplace, the challenges they can face and strategies to promote allyship and effective inclusion.

Since 2012, we have worked in partnership with large construction companies to deliver innovative Learning and Development courses and qualifications, specifically designed to minimise disruption to business operations, raise performance and drive better results. Our team of occupationally competent tutors and assessors each have over 15 years’ experience of delivering training in the given sector. We therefore have the occupational experience, skills and knowledge to engage and motivate learners and tailor all teaching learning and assessment to meet the specific needs/culture of the sector.

National Energy Action, the fuel poverty charity, campaigns so everyone can afford to live in a warm and safe home. This is something denied to millions because of poor housing, low incomes, and high bills. Working across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, everything we do aims to improve the lives of people in fuel poverty. We directly support people with energy and income maximisation advice and we advocate on issues including improving the energy efficiency of our homes. We do not work alone. Partnerships and collaboration have been at the heart of NEA for over 40 years, helping us drive better health and wellbeing outcomes for people struggling to heat their homes. National Energy Action was founded in 1981 when students at Durham University established a group of volunteers to install loft insulation in the homes of elderly local people. Their experiences led them to realise there was a huge problem with people living in cold and unhealthy homes, suffering from fuel poverty. Subsequently, working with Newcastle City Council, this project was replicated on a wider scale by putting together different funding streams to develop community insulation projects. On 18 May 1981, Neighbourhood Energy Action was formally launched as a development programme of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. Since then Neighbourhood Energy Action has evolved into National Energy Action (NEA), employing over 70 staff across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our actions have brought real social change, enabling millions of people to access grants and assistance to help them live in a warm home. Our campaigning work has also ensured that fuel poverty is now firmly on the public policy agenda. We also work closely with our sister charity Energy Action Scotland. SwingFit is a dance fitness class for the young at heart. With dance steps and music from the Swing era, you’ll forget you’re exercising as you dance along to the Lindy Hop, Charleston, Jive and many more. SwingFit began as a class for an NHS ‘Arts for Wellbeing’ programme in 2010 and it quickly grew in popularity with ladies aged 50+ due to the easy-to-follow moves with lively tunes from the 1920s to 1960s. Many of our ladies say that they come for fitness and they stay for the friendship. Although many of our members are aged 50+, all ladies aged 18+ are welcome to SwingFit. You need to be in good health to attend but you do not need to know how to dance as SwingFit is a dance-along class where you copy the teacher. Just come along wearing your favourite T-shirts, leggings and smooth-soled trainers and you’re good to go. Oh yes, and bring a bottle of water! Hello and welcome to Newcastle Beekeepers’ Association Honey Bees are fascinating insects and as a group we seek to understand them better and to support their wellbeing. We are a welcoming group who’s common interest is all aspects of local beekeeping. Our Association covers approximately a 20 mile radius from Newcastle into North and South Tyneside, Gateshead and the southern and eastern ends of Northumberland. We are affiliated to the National British Beekeepers Association, which provides significant benefits including: valuable public liability insurance cover, a monthly magazine and access to education and training. We have a year round meeting schedule with talks, beekeeping demonstrations and practical apiary training sessions during the summer months. Our members come of all ages and walks of life, with new members always especially welcome. We enjoy helping those looking to start or develop an interested in beekeeping and you're welcome to come along to up to three meetings to find out more, have a chat and decide if you'd like to become a member.
