monkstown village tidy district
Monkstown Village Tidy District group was set up in 2017. Our mission is to
enhance the tidiness and attractiveness of the village as a place to live, work
and visit. We do this primarily by delivering the key aspects of being a tidy
district (cleanliness, neatness & appearance, litter and graffiti control). Our
prime activity is our all-year-round schedule of weekly tidy-ups (twice a week
in summer) together with bigger concerted efforts every few months. We also
organise a number of activities and events throughout the year which are
consistent with this and encourage people to engage with all in our community,
young and old, established residents and newcomers. These activities are usually
aimed at helping people appreciate the heritage and environment around them and
consider issues of sustainability and biodiversity. We are continuing with our
efforts to enhance biodiversity in the village and surrounding green spaces as
well as encouraging the adults and children in our community to look at the
flora and fauna around them, appreciate it and commit to doing more to support
it in a sustainable fashion.
